Im planning to keep minnows as a feeder fish for my turtle. But the first time i kept it,it died.Yes,i use an air pump ... Most of the minnow that i kept it started to go down to the bottom of the tank and stay there and suddenly drop to the side and die.My friend said that when i bought it,some of the fish in the plastic bag have been there for a long time because it have also happened to him.Im not really believe it...Maybe the Air Pump is spoiled or others.....Any Advise??? Please!!!!
Sorry, I love my fishies, so I can't really support feeding live WCM to another pet. However, I must prevent unnecessary suffering of those poor little fishes. My guess is that the water in the tank has the wrong chemical balance. The tank water should be dechorinated, and that there should be a filter to ensure the water remains clean. Do a 20 to 30% clean water (make sure it decholrinated ) first) every week. Hope it helps, and maybe you can avoid feeding live foods!
@kfk100 i had feeder guppies for my paradise fish but i have stoped now because i beleive it is cruel unless it is absoloubtly nescesarry so instead of feeder fish i breed fancies now and i have a "no cull" rule it's just not worth the life of an innocent being so hopefully when i start producing recognised fancy strains than i can use the money for bigger tanks oh and btw your ownership is refreshing after seeing so many peple who couldn't give a rats about animals like fish
@themousemaster Thax for your remark, and I am very happy that you no longer feed live fish to your pet fish. In nature, they feed on each other, but whilst we are keeping them as pet, we as human should minimise suffering. Well done.
@bobdigi88 Dont worry, only a small % of the glass is exposed near the window. I dont think the water ever gets particularly warm... dont forget this is England!
Hey I love white mountain minnows! Take a look at my minnows on my channel! How many do you have in there? How long have you had them?

@themousemaster Well done. I definitely agree that fishes are quite emotional creature, and we should definitely give them more respect.

You shouldn't have a tank by the window. It can get too hot for minnows.
