liberation from oppression and liberation from being an oppressor and aiding our fellow oppressors from liberating them from abuse of power and privilege
it is a HARD HARD HARD journey but the most rewarding one
John Bosco Conama's presentation on the Equality of Condition seems to tie into this liberation theology also
Very clever!!! Beautiful Analogy! I do not know which one person, who wrote on the bible. " Do not curse Deaf" It is very clear picture! Audism do curse Deaf.
neat vlog! you made me think one story that you might know. i want to spice to this story. a group of deaf on the ice try to keep them warm by survive themselves is because they knew to take care of themselves,... in the while another group is hearing people on the side of ice that got a nice hot water tub to offer a help.
would need to add deaf theology to asl institute. lol!
A quick response to many of you. Yes, spirituality is an important aspect of a human being's journey as a person. It requires us to explore the purpose of our existence, our morals, our core values, and how we live them out day by day. Most definitely, being Deaf with a Language and a Culture, we MUST explore the spirituality of this. Dr. Paddy Ladd always points this out, too. And Kristen Weiner of Deafhood Yoga explores this from yoga's perspective which is equally exciting & important!
Someone "spammed" Deafmom3ASL, I dont see anything wrong with her comment. I applaud Kim's church to go on their own and I wished her and her church best of luck! Keep us posted, Kim!
Interesting thoughts which i hadn't thought of... of course, got me thinking deeper...we are all gifted in different ways and forms. I believe that God has given Deaf souls ABUNDANT grace cuz of what we go through, which made many of us stronger through obstacles, struggles and overcoming them. A few have become bitter, just like anyone else in the universe. God has given us life to go through journeys...we'll always keep learning til the day we die, then our learnings/journeys ends. Great vlog!
Heard your message clearly! My church is leaving the 'hearing church', and will be on our own as DICC (Deaf International Community Church) this July. Everything will be in ASL, and celebrate our Deaf Culture at all times (doing worship in Deaf way). I'm very excited about it, and am very blessed being the member of this church journey. My pastor is female, Deaf of Deaf, and has Deaf children as well as hearing children. Thank you for your powerful Easter message. Hugs, Kim
@Deafmom3ASL DeafPoet2 alerted me that someone spammed your comment and I just unspammed it. I apologize for this. Seems this new youTube look/system does things differently. Not sure how to set up the system the right way. Anyway, thanks for your exciting news. I look forward to knowing more about your new DICC!
Yes I always believe that GOD give us deaf people gift. I told GOD I accepted for what and who I am. I could feel inside that GOD said to me "BLESS YOU".... because I understood completely that GOD create us as being deaf. I thank GOD for the gift. You're so correct all the way!
Freedom for Deafhood in Christ is found or restored again !!! I want us also to look at this hidden audism scripture - Luke 4:18. There are many things we can apply that toward our experiences concerning Deaf Ed, deaf babies and so on..because audism is one of the oppressed or captives of the devil (evil).
You know I'm not Christian, but following your logic, the real sin is rejecting God's wish for us, trying to make ourselves (or in the case of Hearing people, making Deaf people) what we were not made to be: Hearing. If we accept ourselves as Deaf, then we would be accepting ourselves as God made us.
Your talking about the Deaf Theology is so remarkable! I never thought of this before. Looking forward to seeing more Deaf Theology comments from time to time.
Interesting perspective. My mother would agree with you that Deaf is God's gift to us, to our parents. I agree as well. Too many people view Deaf as a deficiency, an evil, a punishment from God. Audism as a sin... that is a new one. Unfortunately, people use the Bible to justify audism (the story of Jesus healing the Deaf, the Blind, etc) I'll read the verses you mentioned. This bears further thought.
@shelpotma1 exactly. People did use Bible to justify slavery of Africans (racism), and look at how African-Americans used churches as grassroots organizers to mobilize for the Civil Rights fight in the 1960's, so the Church does have a lot of potential for the fight against audism as well as being the worst practioners of audism. Sigh. A long history is prone to more complex human conflicts but we should not throw out the baby with the bath water as the saying goes. Yes! More discourse a must.
I want big thank you you really right I know you try explan to us about issue deafhood I cant wait see you on sept 11 Richmond, va . I am proud of you bravo Bravooooooooooooo

Hello.
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
The gist of this verse does include - neither hearing nor deaf, nor ASL Deaf and Orals Deaf, and so on. We are all in Christ.
I suggest you look at verse 27, just before this 28th verse.
Are you a Christian Ella? Are you really a bible believing Christian?

Your vlog is very "360" degree perspective! You certainly have abilities to have those kinds of thoughts.
Thanks for sharing this with us, especially today.

That is so very interesting Deafhood Easter! What is ASL for "Epiphany"? Is "Epiphany" different from Theology and Catholic ministry?
