    You're right but on a live performance I prefer a singer who assures a good e-flat than one who takes a risk of singing a g without being sure of it being perfect. And even if it's written this high g doesn't bring much to the aria which is already a very difficult piece, don't you think ?

  • @OlafReuh That G is only reason for using a baritone instead of a bass, that I'd prefer: if you don't sing it, use a bass!

  • This is the reason that explains why Rossini is not sung many often...His music is too difficult!!!!!
