When i stopped eating meat a few years ago it was to develope a better lifestyle for myself. It wasn't until after I gave up meat that I realized the impact I was having on the life of others. To see how animals are treated just to produce food for the masses is difficult. I wish everyone were more aware of the suffering we subject animals to just to provide unnecessary meat on the table.
everyone in my family eats meat they dont understand how the animals are treated I wish that everyone would watch how these animals are treated at factory farms
1. If you are hungry and you have no tools with you and i give you a field of vegetables and field of all sorts of live animals, what will you go for?
2. Do you have even enough strength in ur teeth and nails to chase a chicken , catch it and bite into it ?
Unfortunately, the Lake Tahoe Unified School District harasses, slanders and intimidates teachers who teach about the gross inhumanity of factory farming... they don't want parents complaining about the low quality of food in the school district.

Just watched a couple of videos by PETA and it made me think that they're main aim is to make people vegetarian, not make the treatment of animals more ethical. It goes on about why not to eat meat, but surely the ethical reason to give up meat is purely due to the manner in which the animal is kept and slaughtered, not whether or not there is blood and other 'gross' stuff in meat. I know what im getting when i buy meat, course there's going to be blood etc but this doesn't put me off.

The main aim on PETA shouldn't be in converting people to vegetarianism, rather than work on the way the animals are kept. Believe it or not, even those omnivorous living amongst you think this is wrong, and would be quick to help if they thought that PETA supporters weren't going to scapegoat and try to convert us to eat rabbit food. Ironic that you're taking the food away from the creatures you're
"The main aim on PETA shouldn't be in converting people to vegetarianism, rather than work on the way the animals are kept." You miss the point, veganism/vegetarianism are one of the most effective ways of boycotting the largest source of animal suffering in America today - factory farming. Way over 90% of the meat you eat is from factory farms. Even if most people were vegetarians, there would still be a small amount of animal farms with much more room for animals to live in
also, daveciaramella, the farms would be much more humane in that case. however, the problem is that when you treat animals as a commodity, as things to be sold, and the main focus is on profitting monetarily, then it is not hard to see what will happen to even a small farm eventually. Eventually, corners are cut in order to save money. Granted, if we at least had some minimal animal welfare standards in most states, that would be helpful. This group advocates for those too.

Animals shouldnt be raised or killed cruelly. But that doesnt mean we cant raise or kill them at all. If you raise them humanely, (with good food and space) and kill them humanely, (without pain or suffering, e.g. break the neck in one stroke) then I dont see anyting wrong.
The problem is that it's impossible! How many people want to eat steak twice a day? You must provide for those selfish people millions of cows, pigs, chickens... and there is not enough space/money/willing to let them in large area, with kind treament, and kisses while being slaughtered... As long as money and benefit will be the main goal, animal wellfare will be secondary. This is why the best solution, the most realistic solution, is to go vegan.
What about just having less people? Im all for that. We are over populated. If we reduce the population we reduce the demand for meat (and everything else). With less demand to cater to, we can work with the amount we need and make sure it up to a minimum cruelty standard. Cut back on the kids. No glove no love. Nothing against vegans though. Tofu is good stir-fried!
One thing I must ask, and I always wonder this when people start talking about "humane" killing of nonhumans...You're basically admitting that nonhumans can feel, yet that only prompts you to think of changing the manner in which they are killed, instead of not killing them in the first place.
All these welfare reform campaigns to make living conditions for farmed animals more comfortable, give them space to perform their natural behaviors, toys to prevent boredom, and a swift death so they don't feel any pain, or know it is coming...Just seems like an awful lot of work that only exposes how complex and sentient these beings are. Why do that at all? We don't have to consume animal products to survive.
wait, woops. i get what you are saying now ShrapnelSong. I didn't see your correction. Here's a question, why not read the book mentioned in this video? There is a paperback version for like 15 bucks and you could read the arguments against using animals as things instead of beings with their own interests. You could maybe read about arguments against using animals as means to our own ends.
How is it "humane" to raise something that is solely alive for you to kill it in the first place? Is it humane to treat an animal as food when you are a rational human being who has the ability to rebel against your genes?
anyone who has ever eaten meat has blood on their hands..I won't deny the blood stains on my hands..they shall never be washed away but at least i no longer commit murder.
it's not farfetched...I thnk you'll find your meat is murdered animals...I'm not trying to change you, if you want to eat it that's your choice, howvere you will find meat is dead animals...so no it's not far fetched.
There are two important issues that are commonly entwined. Between the issue of the process at which factory farms operate when it comes to raising and slaughtering animals and the issue of simply eating animals. We have far greater grounds on the first issue compared to that of the second. Inflicting pain on an animal continually throughout its life in these factory farms is new relative to human history. International trade will make it tricky, but legislation can and should stop the brutality
I like better this then peta becuz i heard stuff like "peta kills 96% of the animals they get" and i dont believe it but...Anywayse GOOD JOB YOU MUST BE THE HERO FOR THE ANIMALS AND HOPE YOU GUYS WILL CONTINUE!!!!
Thanks for everything you do in educating the public about factory farming. I was a vegetarian but then I came across the website and after watching the videos about it I became a vegan. It's a gradual process as I don't want to waste the food I already had but I feel so great about doing this!
I went to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glenn, NY 2 years ago and walked out of there a vegitarian almost vegan after seeing and hearing the stories. To date I have not eaten meat or dairy and truly believe in not killing aniamls to satisfy my own taste pallet. We CAN live without meat and dairy, I do crave a nice real meat burger now and then but pass on it, and last Thanksgiving they made ME carve the ham and turkey, I DID NOT even take a tiny piece. I am that strong about it.
THat was beautiful. At first I didn't think eating meat was not a big deal, but everything that I've seen on these videos and about the horrors of factory farming changed my view. Hope it does the same for the others so they'll understand.
good job! I'm glad you found that sheep and took care of it and to the other animals also, I'm vegetarian, but I eat eggs, but not supermarket eggs! I eat eggs from my pet hens, would like to visit farm sanctuary one day!
yaayyy! good job! i did my "social action" project in school on factory farming and you guys helped me learn a lot! i was a vegetarian for a week, but now i try not to eat as much meat, but i do eat free-range chickens.
I love you farm sanctuary

@1DangerMouse1 So if you raised your own livestock to standards you saw fit, you too would eat meat?

The simple fact of them feeling things only prompts me to raise/kill them in the first place because I still would like to consume said animals.
