im running this game on a e8400 cpu and a 8800 graphics card max settings. i can even run it on 2560x1600 on max but i only get like 12 fps. theres somthing badly wrong with your rig. if i was you i would check your memroy timmings in the bios

depending on your main board on how you get in

its usually the delete button as you boot up but not allways.

you should have a manual but if not google your board then download it and print it off for reference as and when you need as your in the bios.

find the make of your memory and find the maximum voltage and the lowest timmings setting and command rate. for example my meory is set to manual with a 5 5 5 15 t2 setup over voltage of .3 volts.

Will this do it? How does this 6850 compare with say an Nvidia gtx 460? Oh he has a Phenom ll x4 not sure model but its bumped up to like 3.6ghz or so. 8gb ram maybe 1333 decent mobo and psu. @ZackDrz125 skyrim is very cpu hungy(but limited too), and all new games require good processors to be run at high settings. That athlon, it's a dual core, it's very old and outdated, and it even is only 2.7 GHz...man that's a HUGE bottleneck...

@callmeandrei the 6850 is the best value card out there, its ranked #1 for Price point (meaning youre getting the best bang for your buck, so to speak. ). I'm sure you'd be able to run it on ultra, but you might suffer some framerates. It all depends on your budget, if you have the extra cash, buy the 6870 and you should be able to squeeze out ultra with a good processor.

@GxZHD What settings do you have it on? Unless you have the best gaming laptop with the best hardware, you wont be able to run the game on max or ultra settings without lag. Laptops will always suffer in performance.

On a VIZIO 37" HDTV, 1920x1080, HDMI, I'm running on ULTRA, with everything maxed, using FXAA, Anistoropic, etc. Pretty much the same performance as this guy is getting. You actually don't need the Quad-Core, as Skyrim is not made to take advantage of the technology. Runs just as good on a dual core, all things being equal.

@hildegain look up on google how easy it is to overclock fx 4100... u just raise multiplier to 20-23, and that's it, no voltage raising no anything else. By just raising multiplier to 23, u overclock it to 4.6 GHz, and it still runs stable with stock cooler, guys from some benchmark web page said, but they also said that if u are to overclock to 4.5+ GHz it would be best to buy aftermarket cooler :)

@MrGabbe1200 I suggest turning off V-sync in the SkyrimPrefs.ini (In documents/mygames/skyrim). V-sync tends to run with this off anyway so having it on in the ini causes slow down.
