@jcjodouin you cant buy a gl1 brand new because they discontinued it to make the gl2. A brand new gl2 is around $2,100. You can get a used gl1 for about $700.

are you retarted, a gl1 is a really good camcorder, and is nothing like a walmart camcorder. Yes, the vx's are better, but there more expensive, and the vx1 has better colors then the vx2000, and vx2100

i would go with the gl1 because with sony, it cost alot more to repair, and you need 'sony' everything (tapes, accesories) from what ive heard. although they are bothe great cameras.

u need a firewire to ur computer.

but if u have windows they have no firewire inputs so u have to buy a PCI card.

i'd recommend a canon Gl2 or either one of the Sony Vx products such as the Vx-1000 (has the best sound quality ever), Vx2000 (great low light footage), and the Vx2100 (about the same as the 2000 except the quality difference)

Good Eye Mindless, I never noticed that. Let me first assure you it is the same Canon GL1 camera, but I learn't something new about my mac. I used the internal camera from my imac computer and it looks like it produces a "mirror" effect. I never noticed. THanks for the heads up and hope you win!
