Yo check out my remake of the sunshine song by Mos Def. It's in the video response section. Hopefully ya'll enjoy the verses i scripted. If not thumbs down me and I'll try again.
I dunno how niggas can dislike this shit, Def one of the nicest cats doing it.
I hate when I go on a DOOM, Common, Blu or Monch video and the mo' fucker's got like (especially Blu, check him out if y'all don't already know) 100 000 plays. The more poetic cats stay gettin' over looked for some reason.
Search Eddie Pesos "North of Death" and "Hayley" Puerto Rock kid from Philly droppin' ill joints on the mic.
I can't believe someone with the name 'Purplehaze' is dissing on the guy that wrote My Favourite Ladies. Unless you ripped that from the Hendrix song, not the strain.
@draklia Lol, I don't think he's' dissing DOOM bruh. He's actually saying he hates how the more poetic cats(DOOM, common, blu, monch) stay getting overlooked. :/ Sadly he's right, they do get overlooked!
@mrfudgeyhead r u fuckn crazy kanye west is the best rapper in the game rite now he the only artist that attract differnt crowds n still keep it hip hop. U need to put the dark fantasy n and listen to dat kanye n rza art.

I think Black on Both Sides is up there with the top 10 hip hop albums of all time, maybe Top 5... I just don't think Mos Def evolved as an artist. He says the same things all the time!
i saw a re run of House guest starring mos def, dude can act. He has a great voice for television and movies. i hope to see him in film more often, and his music is great too. he's one of the few hip hop artists i like
@kuriosity89 true. kanye is still the shit but hes too caught up doin songs with rick ross and nicki minaj these days. i want kanye back with mos def, talib kweli and common.
@trudon Well in light of Kanye's last album, Rick Ross did well on Devil In A New Dress and Nicki was a necessary psycho on Monster, so I'm not as disappointed as I could be lol. But yeah, Kanye really needs to go back and hook up with Mos and Kweli again. He's still doing a good deal with Common tho.
@kuriosity89 Ross did well on Devil in a new dress? Really? That must be why I don't like him if that's him at his best. I just listened to his verse and he said absolutely nothing. "so many cars they thought i was the dmv" "blue mercedes this, black lambo that" "i wear a black tux" "I've got lots of cash". That sums up his verse.
No wonder rap's going down the toilet when people think that shit is good.
@frankovich213 I didn't say Ross was at his best. But what separates him from many others like him is that when he brags he brags with class. You're not a fan of Hip Hop if you only take lyrics for their surface value, and more often than not, Ross puts meaning beneath the surface. And even when he is, he's still classier about it than they are.
@kuriosity89 Fair enough, but I still wouldn't call his bragging classy compared to say Ice Cube, Dr.Dre Snoop etc. The reason I brought up those Ross lyrics from the verse was to show that there is nothing beyond the surface value of those lyrics. That was my whole point. Take "so many cars they thought I was the dmv"for example. 50 cent did a similar line; Ï gotta lot of whips like a runaway slave" Now THAT'S how you do a double meaning. And I don't even like 50.
@frankovich213 The line is actually "So many cars the DMV thought it was mail fraud." Completely different meaning, but you still can't take one line out of a verse and build your own meaning around it. Agree to disagree I guess. But Snoop used to be classy (now he doesn't even rap, just talks), Cube was always more political than braggy, and all of Dr. Dre's shit is ghostwritten so can't put any credibility behind him as a lyricist lol he had Eazy E, Cube, D.O.C. and Royce 5'9 write his verses.
@youngnutsack17 No rapper is going to be called good if his beats are awful. Thats part of being a good rapper: Having the best beats. Quit hating, Kanye has rhymes AND beats
@JWalk really? look at eminem most of his song has shit beats but his rhymes make up for it. Im not hating i said kanye made sick beats, but his rapping sucks, i was a huge kanye fan until i realized he sucks at rapping. Everyone in the industry knows this, take gangstarr for example, take their beats and imagine kanye rapping to it, what you will get wont be so pretty.
@Lyingaboutmyage i never said underground was better, now your just talking out of your ass
and you have yet to hear flow in a rapper, ill give it to kanye he has heart, but every rapper has heart until money washes it away...my point is just because kanye loves rapping doesnt mean hes a good rapper. i even said in the first comment that hes a alright rapper, i never said he was bad but hes nowhere near mos def, and kanye is better with producing then rapping.
Kanye is good just nowhere near Mos Def's level...I enjoy the hell out of Kanye's rhymes and his beats...His subject matter is relatable as well...Mos Def overall is dope as fuck though...Talib Kweli, Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch and alot of rappers are more lyrical than Kanye but I like Kanye more for different reasons...if I based my favorite rapper of all time on just lyrics then Nas would be my all time favorite rapper but he's actually 3rd on my list behind Jay-Z.
@chillyche kanye aint that bad, stop hatin cuz atleast he isnt scared to challenge someone in a rap battle. Kanyes beats are in tempo with is rhymes but look at lil wayne though his beats dont even match up to his tempo of his crappy short lines but what ever.
@UltraKid808 I see the word "Kid" in your username. This explains how you think albums from the last 6 years could be classified as "classic." Kanye's songs lack profundity, and Kanye himself lacks decorum. He's a talented producer with a gassed up head who seems to think that he's on par with lyrical legends like Rakim or that his music has any of the fire of true classics like 36 Chambers, Fear of a Black Planet, Low End Theory, BlackStar, etc.
It's funny how alot of other people consider College Dropout a classic...everyone from Talib Kweli tp J. Cole consider it a classic...alot of Hip Hop fans consider it a classic, Rolling Stones and alot of other music critics considered it one of the best albums of the decades....keep in my mind that I'm 18 and that most of the people who praised the album are hella older than me...you're just a stuck up jackass who thinks everything mainstream sucks.
@UltraKid808 Make no mistake, I acknowledge that College Dropout blew up the spot. But Kanye was hailed as "Hip Hop's Savior" by Rollingstone before the album even dropped. The songs, when you get right down to it, are catchy and little else. Kanye's flow has made an impact (for worse, imo) on emcees. I'm not an Eminem fan, but his wordplay is leaps and bounds superior to Kanye. Again, same with Blackthought. Better aspiring emcees emulate these guys than Kanye's lazy flow.
@UltraKid808 In addition, modern emcees like Lupe Fiasco have outdone Kanye with similar flows. Lupe is infinitely more nuanced than Kanye as a lyricist. Kanye's superstardom has bamboozled Kanye himself and the public at large into thinking he's anything other than a mediocre emcee and a decent producer. Lyricists like Blackthought fit more wordplay into 1 measure than Kanye fits into whole verses. Nerds like Mr. Lif have more to say about the world on 1 album than Kanye's entire catalog.
Kanye's beats and rhymes>>>>>You're trash talk...haters still hating I guess.
Lots of rappers have co-signed Kanye so what does that tell you? Mos Def, Talib Kweli who had his biggest hits when Kanye produced for him, Common who's career Kanye revived, Lupe who Kanye made famous, Nas, J. Cole and alot more...
@UltraKid808 "go ahead, call me playa hata if it makes you feel better." -- Binary Star.
One of Kanye's hottest beats is definitely Guerrilla Monsoon Rap on Talib's Quality album. It's my favorite work by Kanye, definitely. But he doesn't knock them out of the park like that all the time. He does a lot of stuff that's lowest-common denominator. He also does the diddy and samples already successful songs, adding a little flare. Stronger? The Daft Punk original is superior.
Oh please all Kanye sampled was the vocals and the rest was all his...stop being a whiny underground rap dickrider/hipster...Guerilla Monsoon Rap is far FAR from Kanye's best beats...if you actually listened to Stronger you would realize how it has no similarities to Harder Better Faster Stronger outside of the vocal samples and that beat is hella complex...Daft Punk are the shitty producers he pulled some Diddy shit on tracks like the one you just mentioned and Robot Rock.
@UltraKid808 The fact is, in the music industry, people understand business. If Kanye is popular -- regardless of his merit -- other people are going to attach to that, and hope they get a genuine banger, rather than hot-for-the-moment firecracker.
As for Lupe, Lupe made Lupe famous, and arguably it was Soundtrakk's beats -- not Kanye's -- that had the biggest impact on Lupe's debut.
If demanding quality makes me a snob, I guess I'll wear that hat.
It's not like Lupe didn't gain hype after Kanye's Just Blaze produced monster hit Touch the Sky...and this was before his debut was even mentioned...nobody even knew Lupe until' Touch the Sky and then he gained more buzz when Jay-Z became executive producer...you think Kick, Push would have actually done good in the mainstream without Kanye & Jay-Z? HaHaHa good one...The College Dropout>>>>Food & Liquor too.
@UltraKid808 Wait, I'm confused... are we arguing that Kanye is good, or that Kanye is popular? Kick, Push is a good song, regardless of whether it ever saw the light of day. Last Emperor has entire albums that were never released that still have great tracks on them. That's irrelevant in regards to an emcee's talent or a producer's talent. That's relevant in regards to somebody's business acumen. Bottom line, Kanye's lyrics are increasingly about nothing, Lupe explores concepts and issues.
Oh please Kanye has rapped about the blood diamonds, African Americans' obssession for material things, Religion, his struggle, the crack epidemic, his love for his mom, his love & jealousy for Jay-Z, and so many other things...
@UltraKid808 Does Kanye talk about blood diamonds in a song other than Diamonds from Sierra Leone, because in listening to that song, his lyrics don't seem to really be relevant to the title of the song. They just seem to be about how he's successful now. The only diamonds he mentions are the "Rock" in Rock-A-Fella Records. Unless there's another song we're talking about.
@UltraKid808 Yeah, you're right, I haven't given any of his later albums a full listen-through. That's how unimpressed I have been with the stuff I've heard. As a result, I'm not giving him a fair shot. I gotta admit, I'm fairly dubious of his critique of blood diamonds, since he still brags about his buying power and his fancy stuff, so he clearly hasn't connected that limited critique to a broader analysis of imperialism and capitalism in general. But, maybe he's got something to say.
Nobody said Kanye was the best rapper in the world but he is the most relatable and creative...I mean I think everybody should know why Mos Def is not in Kanye's place right now and that's because Kanye is an artist...a true artist...you know like Prince or Kurt Cobain...He's in his own lane...Mos Def could never rock a stadium and his albums will never be as successful because he's just a rapper...Kanye is more than just a rapper...
@UltraKid808 Okay, I was getting hostile earlier, and I apologize for that. go back and listen to Black on Both Sides, then listen to College Dropout. Mos outshines Kanye's lyrics in every conceivable way. He reps hip hop harder, he's smarter, he's more versatile with a mic. He also experiments musically. Not always successfully, true. But to suggest that Kanye is the artist, and Mos is the rapper is shockingly backwards. Shockingly so.
I know Mos Def is a better lyricist but Kanye is a waaaay better artist...I've listened to all Mos Def's album and he's one of my favorite artist but he can't touch Kanye as an artist...Even people who dispise Hip Hop enjoy Kanye...Kanye has white fans and he could appeal to the masses without selling out...his music is univeral...if he was a singer he would be even greater as a artist...people don't want to admit how talented to his is because they're racist or hipsters or TS fans
wow,kanye has a long history behind the scenes in production man,hes behind some of my favourite tracks and i never new it! He deserves to be where he is,he just needs to stay more grounded and respectful.
You don't understand English? Style of production doesn't make quality music. Dumbass
Get your definitions straight okay. No one said his style of production didn't change. I said the QUALITY OF MUSIC didn't change. In the end the mix sounds really good, but the genre may not suit you.
"his quality of music remained the same" Before all he used was his MPC and ASR-10 and samples.The "quality" was a bit more raw, now the "quality" and production is a lot more commercial live unstruments,...etc. So it didnt remain the same dumbfuck.
Okay you too. Let me clear this up. txt2k3 is using quality to mean "an essential or distinctive characteristic, property, or attribute" whereas you're using quality to mean a value judgement, wherein something that is recognized as being of high caliber is "high quality" and something of poor worksmanship is "low quality."
"..make it GO without a brand new car, I was fresh without a brand new song, could give a damn would type of brand you are, i'm concern what type of man you are" -some of the realest shit I've heard from mos. I love it. Save the Music. Save Hip-Hop.
@blkpache yo, I just listened to respiration for the 1000th time and I still don't get why that song didn't win some type of award or noble prize know what i mean ? Mos-def is underated in the hip-hop world

listen to mass appeal by gangstarr and you will see what a good rapper can do
youngnutsack17 1 year ago
@youngnutsack17
Just because its underground doesn't mean its better.
I'm arguing that Mos Def is a better emcee (he is in my top 5 d.o.a.) but if you can't hear Ye's passion then you are the one who is deaf.
Lyingaboutmyage 1 year ago
@Lyingaboutmyage i never said underground was better, now your just talking out of your ass
and you have yet to hear flow in a rapper, ill give it to kanye he has heart, but every rapper has heart until money washes it away...my point is just because kanye loves rapping doesnt mean hes a good rapper. i even said in the first comment that hes a alright rapper, i never said he was bad but hes nowhere near mos def, and kanye is better with producing then rapping.
youngnutsack17 1 year ago
@youngnutsack17,
Kanye is good just nowhere near Mos Def's level...I enjoy the hell out of Kanye's rhymes and his beats...His subject matter is relatable as well...Mos Def overall is dope as fuck though...Talib Kweli, Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch and alot of rappers are more lyrical than Kanye but I like Kanye more for different reasons...if I based my favorite rapper of all time on just lyrics then Nas would be my all time favorite rapper but he's actually 3rd on my list behind Jay-Z.

@Lyingaboutmyage
look up "KANYE WEST VS MOS DEF PART 1" on youtube, and watch it. You will see who is a garbage rapper and who is nice. (hint: Kanye is garbage)
chillyche 1 year ago
@chillyche kanye aint that bad, stop hatin cuz atleast he isnt scared to challenge someone in a rap battle. Kanyes beats are in tempo with is rhymes but look at lil wayne though his beats dont even match up to his tempo of his crappy short lines but what ever.

That's why Ye had a better verse on the Get By remix right?

@chillyche,
you're garbage....Kanye's 3 classic albums>>>>your shit talking
UltraKid808 1 year ago
@UltraKid808 I see the word "Kid" in your username. This explains how you think albums from the last 6 years could be classified as "classic." Kanye's songs lack profundity, and Kanye himself lacks decorum. He's a talented producer with a gassed up head who seems to think that he's on par with lyrical legends like Rakim or that his music has any of the fire of true classics like 36 Chambers, Fear of a Black Planet, Low End Theory, BlackStar, etc.
chillyche 1 year ago
@chillyche,
It's funny how alot of other people consider College Dropout a classic...everyone from Talib Kweli tp J.
UltraKid808 1 year ago
@UltraKid808 Make no mistake, I acknowledge that College Dropout blew up the spot. But Kanye was hailed as "Hip Hop's Savior" by Rollingstone before the album even dropped. The songs, when you get right down to it, are catchy and little else. Kanye's flow has made an impact (for worse, imo) on emcees. I'm not an Eminem fan, but his wordplay is leaps and bounds superior to Kanye. Again, same with Blackthought. Better aspiring emcees emulate these guys than Kanye's lazy flow.
chillyche 1 year ago
@UltraKid808 In addition, modern emcees like Lupe Fiasco have outdone Kanye with similar flows. Lupe is infinitely more nuanced than Kanye as a lyricist. Kanye's superstardom has bamboozled Kanye himself and the public at large into thinking he's anything other than a mediocre emcee and a decent producer. Lyricists like Blackthought fit more wordplay into 1 measure than Kanye fits into whole verses. Nerds like Mr. Lif have more to say about the world on 1 album than Kanye's entire catalog.
chillyche 1 year ago
@chillyche,
{{HaHa}}Kanye a decent producer???
Kanye's beats and rhymes>>>>>You're trash talk...haters still hating I guess.
Lots of rappers have co-signed Kanye so what does that tell you? Mos Def, Talib Kweli who had his biggest hits when Kanye produced for him, Common who's career Kanye revived, Lupe who Kanye made famous, Nas, J. Cole and alot more...
UltraKid808 1 year ago
@UltraKid808 "go ahead, call me playa hata if it makes you feel better." -- Binary Star.
One of Kanye's hottest beats is definitely Guerrilla Monsoon Rap on Talib's Quality album. It's my favorite work by Kanye, definitely. But he doesn't knock them out of the park like that all the time. He does a lot of stuff that's lowest-common denominator. He also does the diddy and samples already successful songs, adding a little flare. Stronger? The Daft Punk original is superior.
chillyche 1 year ago
@chillyche,
Oh please all Kanye sampled was the vocals and the rest was all his...stop being a whiny underground rap dickrider/hipster...Guerilla Monsoon Rap is far FAR from Kanye's best beats...if you actually listened to Stronger you would realize how it has no similarities to Harder Better Faster Stronger outside of the vocal samples and that beat is hella complex...Daft Punk are the shitty producers he pulled some Diddy shit on tracks like the one you just mentioned and Robot Rock.
UltraKid808 1 year ago
@UltraKid808 The fact is, in the music industry, people understand business. If Kanye is popular -- regardless of his merit -- other people are going to attach to that, and hope they get a genuine banger, rather than hot-for-the-moment firecracker.
As for Lupe, Lupe made Lupe famous, and arguably it was Soundtrakk's beats -- not Kanye's -- that had the biggest impact on Lupe's debut.
If demanding quality makes me a snob, I guess I'll wear that hat.
chillyche 1 year ago
@chillyche,
It's not like Lupe didn't gain hype after Kanye's Just Blaze produced monster hit Touch the Sky...and this was before his debut was even mentioned...nobody even knew Lupe until' Touch the Sky and then he gained more buzz when Jay-Z became executive producer...you think Kick, Push would have actually done good in the mainstream without Kanye & Jay-Z? HaHaHa good one...The College Dropout>>>>Food & Liquor too.
UltraKid808 1 year ago
@UltraKid808 Wait, I'm confused... are we arguing that Kanye is good, or that Kanye is popular? Kick, Push is a good song, regardless of whether it ever saw the light of day. Last Emperor has entire albums that were never released that still have great tracks on them. That's irrelevant in regards to an emcee's talent or a producer's talent. That's relevant in regards to somebody's business acumen. Bottom line, Kanye's lyrics are increasingly about nothing, Lupe explores concepts and issues.
chillyche 1 year ago
@chillyche,
Oh please Kanye has rapped about the blood diamonds, African Americans' obssession for material things, Religion, his struggle, the crack epidemic, his love for his mom, his love & jealousy for Jay-Z, and so many other things...
UltraKid808 1 year ago
@UltraKid808 Does Kanye talk about blood diamonds in a song other than Diamonds from Sierra Leone, because in listening to that song, his lyrics don't seem to really be relevant to the title of the song. They just seem to be about how he's successful now. The only diamonds he mentions are the "Rock" in Rock-A-Fella Records. Unless there's another song we're talking about.
chillyche 1 year ago
@chillyche,
I'm assuming you've never ever listened to Late Registration, right???
Kanye raps about the Blood Diamonds on the Diamonds Remix ft. Jay-Z.
UltraKid808 1 year ago
@UltraKid808 Yeah, you're right, I haven't given any of his later albums a full listen-through. That's how unimpressed I have been with the stuff I've heard. As a result, I'm not giving him a fair shot. I gotta admit, I'm fairly dubious of his critique of blood diamonds, since he still brags about his buying power and his fancy stuff, so he clearly hasn't connected that limited critique to a broader analysis of imperialism and capitalism in general. But, maybe he's got something to say.
chillyche 1 year ago
@chillyche,
Listen to Late Registration without comparing him to other rappers.
UltraKid808 1 year ago
@chillyche,
Nobody said Kanye was the best rapper in the world but he is the most relatable and creative...I mean I think everybody should know why Mos Def is not in Kanye's place right now and that's because Kanye is an artist...a true artist...you know like Prince or Kurt Cobain...He's in his own lane...Mos Def could never rock a stadium and his albums will never be as successful because he's just a rapper...Kanye is more than just a rapper...
UltraKid808 1 year ago
@UltraKid808 Okay, I was getting hostile earlier, and I apologize for that. go back and listen to Black on Both Sides, then listen to College Dropout. Mos outshines Kanye's lyrics in every conceivable way. He reps hip hop harder, he's smarter, he's more versatile with a mic. He also experiments musically. Not always successfully, true. But to suggest that Kanye is the artist, and Mos is the rapper is shockingly backwards. Shockingly so.
chillyche 1 year ago
@chillyche,
I know Mos Def is a better lyricist but Kanye is a waaaay better artist...I've listened to all Mos Def's album and he's one of my favorite artist but he can't touch Kanye as an artist...Even people who dispise Hip Hop enjoy Kanye...Kanye has white fans and he could appeal to the masses without selling out...his music is univeral...if he was a singer he would be even greater as a artist...people don't want to admit how talented to his is because they're racist or hipsters or TS fans

wow,kanye has a long history behind the scenes in production man,hes behind some of my favourite tracks and i never new it! He deserves to be where he is,he just needs to stay more grounded and respectful.

people don't lose ability. his quality of music remained the same, the style changed.
tosb38 1 year ago 5
No actually if you knew about music production you would know he changed his whole style of production. which before it was just him.
txt2k3 1 year ago 2
You don't understand English? Style of production doesn't make quality music. Dumbass
Get your definitions straight okay. No one said his style of production didn't change. I said the QUALITY OF MUSIC didn't change. In the end the mix sounds really good, but the genre may not suit you.
tosb38 1 year ago
"his quality of music remained the same" Before all he used was his MPC and ASR-10 and samples.The "quality" was a bit more raw, now the "quality" and production is a lot more commercial live unstruments,...etc. So it didnt remain the same dumbfuck.
txt2k3 1 year ago
If you don't try to get what I mean. ull be here arguing over definitions for a while.\
ur the one who said his quality of music went down. and now your saying it went up. LOL make up your mind
Live instruments have more quality than gritty samples. (im just using your words)
