Thank you newyorkyankee1000! When we performed this song in concert several years ago the audience was comprised partly of people of Italian heritage but not everyone understood it. That's when we came up with the idea of singing it in Italian and English so everyone would understand the words to this beautiful song. Buon Natale!

I had assumed because the name wasn't Italian, that the song would be song horribly - I couldn't be further from the truth! I was shocked that, not only was it sung correctly, this is the most beautiful rendition of 'Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle' I believe I have heard. This song brought me back 40 years to when I was a little child hearing my nonna's (grandmother's) wind-up baby Jesus in a manger which played this song. I offer a heartfelt "Grazie e Buon Natale" to Brittany and The New Horizons.

This song is sung very well. But the smiles and cheerful disposition downplays "how much it cost our Saviour to Love us". If a "heart is filled with pity", it should be not a cheerful performance, but instead prayerful and penitential

We thank you for your comment and we certainly respect your opinion. Our overall view of this song is that it represents a Saviour born unto us on Christmas day which is indeed a happy and cheerful occasion. Our intent was not to downplay the ultimate sacrifice our Savior made for us.

I understand and respect your view that Christmas is also considered by all who believe a joy. Seen in a way, the Crucifixion is a Joy that anticipates our Redemption. Likewise, the words of this song in both Italian and Engish emphasize the suffering of theCross of Christ that began from the moment He was born in the cold ["al freddo al gelo"] and poverty of a manger. The song's words emphasize Christ's Suffering. A suffering perpetuated by our sins to the present day. It is a call to remorse.

Advent is a season of penance. This song is writtten to help prepare us to receive Him; for the Grace to be worthy for when He comes. Set in the humility and poverty of a manger and "in the cold", which causes "our heart [to be] filled with pity" it asks us "How much it cost you [God] to have loved me". It is a song that emphasizes Joy only borne out from His Suffering, which began that Christmas, through His Death, & continues into Eternity, moving us to repentance to "make straight our paths".
