I get the feeling that after today's disastrous performance against Ottawa that Pesonen will be getting a look here in about a week, 2 weeks MAX. Satan looked horrible, his work ethic was crap, wasn't aggressive, didn't bother chasing after loose pucks, missed several good chances from Sid, and furthermore his defensive play is just horrible. Feds is working hard but he's got stone for hands, but he'll be a good Malone-type for Sid or Geno.
I seriously now think Pesonen will be a household name come the end of the season as a top-line winger with Sid and a hell of a finisher on the PP (because God knows, our PP needs a miracle if we're 1/14 on PP's and without Whits or Gonch too..)..My prediction stands: 42 goals, 35 assists, 77 points. Yes, Staal had a less productive season than his rookie year, but remember, they changed his position from wing to center, and I'm hearing that they are going to put him back on wing this year. As far as Satan goes, yes, he is coming off of his least productive NHL season...but remember...he played for the friggin Islanders!!! Put him on a line with Malkin or Crosby and he will be a force this season.

stilllers55, Ruutu's gone..hes been gone. but we have matt cooke who is a better scorer than ruutu and still talk shit..but he will probably be on the third line too with Staal and Kennedy..i think Pesonen can even be on the second line when he comes..he1l just have to toughen up
can't wait to see him at camp and in the preseason. I think he will be a nice fit for the Pens. I think he will play a lot better than what most people think he will in the nhl. I can see him easily fitting in on the 3rd line and who knows maybe even the 2nd or 1st later on if he performs. He may not score 50 goals in a season...but he hustles, checks, and creates opportunities to score. The pens should definitely keep him around as he is young and can only get better
Yes, that's possible. Actually, I think it's likely if they put him in the fourth line and give him little playing time. After that he's probably sent to the AHL. Good thing for Penguins is that you didn't have to pay him much.

Last but not least, a team has not won back to back Stanley Cup championships in a decade...further showing that, if Hossa was smart, he would have stayed with the Pens instead of chancing it on ONE season with the Wings.
Therefore, I don't know of any players that was "running" from the pens, if anything, most of them are happy to stay, and the ones we signed are very happy to be coming to play for a contender

Sorry to point out the flaws in your argument...but most of the players took pay cuts just to stay in Pittsburgh. The players who did leave were not that big of a lose and were easily replaceable (with the exception of Hossa). But remember, we were in 1st place before even getting Hossa Last year

Fleury played well in the playoffs and towards the end, but that doesn't prove anything. Biron played well in the Playoffs and i still think he shouldn't be a starter. Malkin isnt the second best player in the league...

pesonen has pretty much a similar skillset compared to J.Jokinen's but i dont think they have anything else in common, pessi is alot more grittier player, he even tackles on occasion. He's ALOT faster also.

stilllers55, Ruutu's gone..hes been gone. but we have matt cooke who is a better scorer than ruutu and still talk shit..but he will probably be on the third line too with Staal and Kennedy..i think Pesonen can even be on the second line when he comes..he1l just have to toughen up

can't wait to see him at camp and in the preseason. I think he will be a nice fit for the Pens. I think he will play a lot better than what most people think he will in the nhl. I can see him easily fitting in on the 3rd line and who knows maybe even the 2nd or 1st later on if he performs. I guess we are lucky to have an overcrowded roster with guys like Satan and Fedor now..The Pens are easily still the best team in the east even with Hossa going to fagtroit

right on steelerman1982....anyone who says that Kennedy sucks is naive and a casual fan. He provides good puck possession as well as excellent fore and back check. Plus an exorbonant amount of energy. Even stillers55 had to love it when he beat Upshall's ass in the Conference Finals, which is not his game.

stillers55...I agree with everything you say except your statement about Kennedy. He does not suck by any means. He is a solid 3rd liner. He may not score 50 goals in a season...but he hustles, checks, and creates opportunities to score. The pens should definitely keep him around as he is young and can only get better

Yes, that's possible. Actually, I think it's likely if they put him in the fourth line and give him little playing time. After that he's probably sent to the AHL. Good thing for Penguins is that you didn't have to pay him much.

thats why they gave him a two-way deal if hes a dissapointment and doesnt adapt theyll send him down to wilkes-barre. hell propbly start out playing with staal and thatll make that line much better seeing as before it was staal whos amazing just needs some help ruutu who jus messes with people and doesnt score and kennedy who sucks so itll hopefully provide some offense to the staal line

Second, if Hossa was smart, he would have stayed with Pittsburgh. Why? because not only is he almost guaranteed a cup in the future, he is guaranteed a couple since our team is so young! Detroit is good, but they are old, they won't be running for the cup every year like the pens will be in the next decade

Sorry to point out the flaws in your argument...but most of the players took pay cuts just to stay in Pittsburgh. The players who did leave were not that big of a lose and were easily replaceable (with the exception of Hossa). But remember, we were in 1st place before even getting Hossa Last year
