This is just awesome.. :D Does the setup have much to do with the tone, (action mainly) at the moment my bass is about half a centimeter at the 12th fret, would lowering it just a touch help playability and/or getting the similar tone? Cheers :)
Thanks. I tell people all the time that the way the bass is set up has a lot to do with the "tone" or overall sound. Much of Geddy's sound comes from the buzz, clack, and grind as it does from the actual notes themselves. I use light strings, set my neck as close to straight as I can get it and set my action low as well. Adjusting a truss rod is not a big a mystery as I once thought it was. I'm sure you could find a tutorial on YouTube on how to do it safely.
Troy, you are an amazing player, playing my favourite stuff, namely pretty much anything that Geddy plays! I am a beginner, in my fortys, and you made e realise I had better take up something else! I can play THREE BLIND MICE however! Kidding aside, thanks for these amazing "covers", beautiful guitars you have too! And I love the heads in the back! I think if Geddy were to watch you, he would give you the nod of approval, you could stand in for him if he got injured (may he never!)
@rush2112andahalf Thanks so much. Just keep at it. I have a lo,t and I mean "a lot", of time invested in learning and playing these songs. Don't get discouraged. I think Geddy is the best bass player on the planet so learning his stuff should not be an easy task. As for the masks I just collect them. As for sitting in with RUSH I'd probably do alright with everything up to Counterparts, as long as I was playing behind a screen and not on stage myself.
@cygnusx211268 Thanks. There were so many black ones out there I opted for the sunburst. I just saw RUSH and his main bass had white block inlays on it.
@BassManGilbert I'll amend my will tomorrow. I don't think I'd ever get rid of this rick (I've had 2 in the way past) considering their cost and how difficult they are to come by.
This was one of my first learned tunes...... very tough to achieve the right "reggae" feel during the "Learning to match....catch" and "Trying to save....pave" parts and you did an awesome job....really sounds good!

I've you ever get tired of any of those basses, I'd be happy to take them off your hands (especially this Fender or the Ric!!!)

Great cover on "Project 3:57" The sliding between notes on various parts of the song was bang on.
I loved it.
Great close up at the beginning and ending of the song with your Fender. Lovely looking bass with awesome sound.
