I was so sorry to learn that Chazzan Bazian passed away. Zechrono Levracha. I shaal never forget him.

I love the sheer joy that Cantor Bazian exhibits in his singing. He more than held his own with one of the greatest chazzans ever, Moshe Stern.

stern shrieks the high notes, and bazian is just a pleasure 2 listen 2 !

Although Bazian did have a pretty clean coloratura, he was not a true zoger. That term seems to be misused. He davened pretty freely as an elaborate "ba'al tefilla". The traditional zogers would improvise and the pieces they sang would and could come out differently each time.
