Actually, the Ki-61 was inspired by the Heinkel He-100 (nee 113)--but was a lightweight japanese-type iteration, with the wing straightened out, and much lighter construction. The Ki-60, which did not go into production, was a heavier fighter, which did not accord with Japanese principles. Both Nakajima and Aichi made licensed copies of the Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine, with different designations.
sorry ask you another thing: "Zero" do not were a better plane than "BF109"?. What the causes of this "transfer of an idea"? Note: I have a very doubtly English. If I disturb you with this, I'm sorry!!!
@adauto3000 The Zero was very light. Everything was done to reduce weight It had no armored protection for the pilot or even a radio. It used a radial engine of only about 860hp which because of the weight was very fast and maneuverable & with an incredible range for the time. As the war went on it became vulnerable to improved allied fighters. Also pre-war Japanese pilot training took 18 months. This wasn't changed until to late and Japan ran out of well trained airmen. Better than a 109.Maybe
Sorry! Just wanted to say is, like Japan were togheter with German in the Axis, I though that to make that plane, Japaneses could be used some ideas from BF109, OK? No fence, only a possibility... You can explain it better, in English only, because Hiragana, Kanji and Katakana is not usefull all the time, to me... Thank You for the answer... The two plane look one like the other... Thanks again...
@adauto3000 You are correct , Germany shared many plans to Japan during WW2. The Japanese studied the prints and made their own from scratch. The Ki-61 is inspired by the BF-109 , both have inverted "V" engines.
Nice video Igorks. those are some rare photos of a often overlooked fighter plane. i believe it used a japanese made under licensed version of the Daimler Benz DB 600 series engine.

Japan's industrial technology at the time, could not be copied perfectly DB601.
More precisely, in the prototype could be a perfect copy, mass-produced quality is degraded, and frequent failure.
