Best games i've ever played, I would fight tooth and nail to make shenmue III a reality, nothing comes close to the intimacy and emotion the shenmue saga invokes, its a crime that the series has ground to a halt. This video only really shows the Quick time event action scenes, but the real time fighting is amazing, with complex moves and combinations, it puts the dead or alive series to shame.
im just about to start playing the saga from the begging,still keep the dreamcast and both shenmue games from back in the day and me and my brother would never sell it just for shenmue and the wankers that never maid shenmue 3 shud be ashamed, this was the best game ever created and yet it never really took of yet we have about 20 million mario games that arnt bad but just all the same, we live in a crazy world people

What needs to happen to get shenmue 3 is to give sega a confidence boost in reprising the series. Since its commercial failure the fans have grown to an enormous amount, much like Blade Runner for instance. We need all the big websites like IGN, to make an article based on the Shenmue series and where it could go, through this type of exposure, and word of mouth, sega would be in a better position to move things forward. I'd say get shenmue 1 and 2 on XBL or PSN & it should do well.
Ya know it makes me sad hearing sites like IGN and Giant Bomb just outright bash Shenmue in their podcasts. Making it sound like either no one likes the game or that something is wrong with you if you do.
Do they not know how many people love this epic series? Heck for many it's their number 1 game of all time, myself included nothing tops Shenmue in my mind. :)
Dammit, this is clearly one of the best games of all time. I remember playing this as a kid. So fuckin human and real, back on the days of Dreamcast! It was definitely ahead of its time!
The only thing about Shenmue 3 is that I never got to play part 2! I LOVED part 1, top 5 games of all time. Would it be possible you think for sega to re-release the first 2 games in maybe a combo package on the PS3 and or Xbox 360? Then maybe release Shenmue 3. That woul dbe my dream come true, if not I would have to get Shenmue 1 again since I still have my Dreamcast, then also get an Xbox to play part 2.
Shenmue was the greatest gaming experience that I have ever had. Still play it today and I have beaten games like Bioshock, Resident Evil 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Mirror's Edge, Silent Hill Homecoming, The Conduit, Resident Evil 4, Gears of War 1 and 2, Resistance 1 and 2, Yakuza, Eternal Darkness, D2 and many more. But Shenmue is something that I will never forget. It is a shame that Yu Suzuki has stepped down. And Yakuza 3 for PS3 is not coming out in the U.S.
These graphics are over a decade old and still phenomenal.
Il always remember the Christmas I got my first Dreamcast and Shenmue.. i was 10 and just remember being totaly captured in this incredible game..
Iv said it before, but I genuinly believe that Shenmue was the first and only computer game to surpass the experience of reading a great novel in terms of its beauty, immagination and creativity..

Sega representatives said to be patient. And if we want any Shenmue news it will first appear on Sega. But to be honest I do think they will make it. They just don't want to now...cause they can't. trust me They don't want to lose the shenmue fan base that is why they are stretching it. Remember knights 2 took 11 years to make.
the thing is though mate i was about 7 when Knights came out, and the experience at that age stays with you for life- especially the Christmas ones,
but when k2 was released it wasnt my thing anymore, same with Panzer Dragoon, GunGriffon and so on..
If S3 takes another half decade (which it seems to be doing) I could be married with kids!!! and as much as we all love Shenmue im not sure that SEGA can count on maintaining a fan base for two decades!!
I think the same. But its not sega's fault they are holding out this long they just don't have money. Knights is totally different than shenmue though. its lik metal gear solid a game for adults that attracts all. Knights was a kids game. I still love it though ^_^ But you say i understand. Hopefully sega wakes up by now...
I swear to all mighty God if I had the money I would be willing to spend every last penny I had to get Shenmue 3 made. It seriously has to be the best game ever made. It's crippling to think that after all the effort put into the first two amazing games the third looks like it will be never made. It has to be a disappointment not just to the fans but to the creators as well.

BTW: Awesome video! I watched the entire thing. I own, the Dreamcast Original and a PAL Version of Shenmue 2 for Dreamcast AND the Xbox version. I must say nothing matches it. THE Sega Dreamcast in GENERAL has influenced my life. I consider it a good luck charm. 5 DC's reside in my room.
Hopefully since SEGA just got a new President, we'll see some good games pumping out!
Hopefully :) Ill always be waiting for Shenmue. It could have been like Metal Gear Solid with teh right marketing. It even got a cover on tv guide! Shenmue still has potential. Oh and 5 is my fav number!!!
no thats just a rumor, he's just been made manager of the R&D department of segas new development department (AM PLUS) so shenmue 3 is still possible=)
AM -PLUS is still a form of AM kinda, so even thogh he's concentrateing on arcades at the mo, there's still a chance for shenmue 3, well i hope so anyways=)

After playing through Shenmmue 2 to realise the epic would remain unfinished. This game still stands alone. More than merely a game. You took part in a narrative. After playing these 2 games i haven't been able to play anything else. I own a DC with both games and had previously owned just about everything that preceeded it (nes, ms, genesis, psx, n64) Nowadays the only free time i get is happily spent reliving the Shenmue experience Anyway i hope sega does it justice by completing it properly

Shenmue II on the Dreamcast really improved on Shenmue I. There was more loads more action sequences both in real-time and quick-time, the engine was improved to cope with more people on screen at once, the character graphics and environments were vastly improved. It was a bigger and better game. Plus, I much preferred the Japanese voices and English subtitles.

truth is, one day i was looking for a Dreamcast game when i was about 7, I picked this one up, not even knowing what it was, just simply picked it up because i wanted a game for dreamcast. And it ended up being the most spectacular and favorite game ever.
SAME WITH ME! I didnt know what it was. It was in a big glass case for 20 bux I was little I told my mom to buy she did. THE GAME WAS CRISP AND BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING LIKE IVE EVER SEEN EVEN TILL THIS DAY. Even my mom loved it she loved the graphics and she feel in love with Ine-san ^_^

Its very hard to get hold of a brand new copy of Shenmue 1 or 2. But there are good deals on ebay for pre owned copys and some are in mint condition or as new, so thats probably your best bet!

One of the greatest stories ever told in video games. My other favorite stories in video games are the original Metal Gear Solid and Star Control 2: The Ur Quan Masters. Shenmue was the main reason I bought the Dreamcast when it came out and Shenmue 2 was the main reason I bought the X - Box. If Yu Suzuki doesn't finish Shenmue 3, I will never touch a game of his again, EVER!!!

Shenmue kicks ass the way you get to beat up all the faggots who think they're solid. I'm playin shenmue1 again for the 6th time but im a bit dissapointed because its not as enjoyable as previous times as i know where everything is. Have been playing for 2 nights and i'm nearly on the 3rd disc. I will play shenmue 2 when i've finished and hope to get more out of that. But shenmue is still the best game ever made!!! Bring on Shenmue 3 + Shenmue online!!!

Great game, but if they improved the gameplay and the voice acting cause the characters were realy stiff and they sounded like robots the game would have done alot better and got the credit it deserved.
Everything was great and the gameplay. But voice acting defintly needs work. but those things didnt bother me when i first played it because i was aw struck and in disbelief of how great the game was
A lanyard is one of those things you wear around your neck, you can put keys and ID's and stuff on them, they also make small ones for cell phones which is what this one is. But I havn't opened it lol
My fave game of all time, I own it for Dreamcast and the second one for Xbox, and own all the soundtracks, imported from Japan, Shenmue Jukebox, Shenmue Original soundtrack, and shenmue Orchestra verion, I also imported a limited edition Lanyard that was available in Japan when you pre-ordered the game lol. No, I'm not trying to brag, I'm simply showing my support, it's so sad too many people here in the United states were too ignorent to look into the game.

You should and thank you so much for saying that it is great and dreamcasts are on ebay and they are dirt cheap. Its an experience u should not let go. Or you could simply get the second one for xbox which comes with a dvd movie of the first part. But its no where mear playing the first.
the second one is packed full of action and suspense tah the the first (first is still nice though). Just try it anyway u can. get the second one at least and after playing that ull see how bad ull want to get the first for a bigger experience ;)
This brings back so many memories, it's kinda scary. When you're a kid you feel it will last forever, but it doesn't, and that sucks.

I'll never forget the first time I played this. After all those hours only to realise that I had only completed the first part of an epic. Downer. After playing through Shenmmue 2 to realise the epic would remain unfinished. This game still stands alone. More than merely a game. You took part in a narrative. With gameplay and plot elements of such subtlety that it was never going to appeal to everyone The more intelligent gamer fell in love with this game and its influence can be seen everywhere

xStryfx fantastic job! This truely is the greatest of all time! The Godfather of the gaming world, especially Shenmue 1 had the feel and the atmosphere of an epic. After playing these 2 games i haven't been able to play anything else. I own a DC with both games and had previously owned just about everything that preceeded it (nes, ms, genesis, psx, n64) Nowadays the only free time i get is happily spent reliving the Shenmue experience Anyway i hope sega does it justice by completing it properly

Shenmue II on the Dreamcast really improved on Shenmue I. There was more loads more action sequences both in real-time and quick-time, the engine was improved to cope with more people on screen at once, the character graphics and environments were vastly improved. It was a bigger and better game. Plus, I much preferred the Japanese voices and English subtitles.

truth is, one day i was looking for a Dreamcast game when i was about 7, I picked this one up, not even knowing what it was, just simply picked it up because i wanted a game for dreamcast. And it ended up being the most spectacular and favorite game ever.

SAME WITH ME! I didnt know what it was. It was in a big glass case for 20 bux I was little I told my mom to buy she did. THE GAME WAS CRISP AND BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING LIKE IVE EVER SEEN EVEN TILL THIS DAY. Even my mom loved it she loved the graphics and she feel in love with Ine-san ^_^

Its very hard to get hold of a brand new copy of Shenmue 1 or 2. But there are good deals on ebay for pre owned copys and some are in mint condition or as new, so thats probably your best bet!

One of the greatest stories ever told in video games. My other favorite stories in video games are the original Metal Gear Solid and Star Control 2: The Ur Quan Masters. Shenmue was the main reason I bought the Dreamcast when it came out and Shenmue 2 was the main reason I bought the X - Box. If Yu Suzuki doesn't finish Shenmue 3, I will never touch a game of his again, EVER!!!

Shenmue kicks ass the way you get to beat up all the faggots who think they're solid. I'm playin shenmue1 again for the 6th time but im a bit dissapointed because its not as enjoyable as previous times as i know where everything is. Have been playing for 2 nights and i'm nearly on the 3rd disc. I will play shenmue 2 when i've finished and hope to get more out of that. But shenmue is still the best game ever made!!! Bring on Shenmue 3 + Shenmue online!!!

Great game, but if they improved the gameplay and the voice acting cause the characters were realy stiff and they sounded like robots the game would have done alot better and got the credit it deserved.

Everything was great and the gameplay. But voice acting defintly needs work. but those things didnt bother me when i first played it because i was aw struck and in disbelief of how great the game was

A lanyard is one of those things you wear around your neck, you can put keys and ID's and stuff on them, they also make small ones for cell phones which is what this one is. But I havn't opened it lol

My fave game of all time, I own it for Dreamcast and the second one for Xbox, and own all the soundtracks, imported from Japan, Shenmue Jukebox, Shenmue Original soundtrack, and shenmue Orchestra verion, I also imported a limited edition Lanyard that was available in Japan when you pre-ordered the game lol. No, I'm not trying to brag, I'm simply showing my support, it's so sad too many people here in the United states were too ignorent to look into the game.
