  • hey can someone tell me how to find the indie games section on the xbox 360? lol im a noob

  • Hey this game is like one that is on internet but anybody now what's the name of the one on internet, it's not phun the game i say the one i say has 2 parts

  • whats up with the sad music? i have this game and while you're making stuff it gets quite annoying

  • @Gmodhacka its meant to be relaxing. you can turn it off in Options.

  • phun is awesome

  • ist on xbox 360

    or xbox?

  • its on xbox 360: under xbox live/ indie games tab

  • How cool! If you like this, you would like my free app I've created called littlephysics for iphone.

  • It reminds me of a sort of mini Garry's Mod. I know that Phun was probably more of an inspiration, but I found one of my main problems with Garry's Mod was that building things wasn't hard, but it took awhile to get it to work correctly. With easier to work with tools and one less dimension to worry about, I can make all those tanks with treads and large machine guns i've wanted to build, but got bored half way through of in gmod.

  • I think most of the problems you guys are having with building your vehicles is that you are not putting the objects in the same group so they won't interact- say you put some wheels on a car like the car on the title screen, and they pop off- you need to put them in the same group, or else they'll just fly away. Also, I think you should make tools for making flying vehicles- thrusters and hoverballs, ala GMOD. for now, im just driving my planes off of large ramps :D also, best indie game on xbl

  • I love the unpredictable, seemingly random outcomes that I get from running simulations that I create in the Physics Sandbox. I'm curious to know why this happens. I mean, why wouldn't I get the same results every time, running the exact same simulations. Is there some sort of randomizing code built in to the game that changes the outcome of my simulations every time?

  • There is no randomizing code built in the game; however, the physics engine is updated every timestep (usually about 1/60 second). the faster it does the timesteps, the more "accurate" the physics are. varying timesteps creates this "randomness"

  • I cant make a car :(

  • check out the car example. if that isnt good enough, create a body using a rectangle or polygon. create two circles (wheels) and set all 3 objects to group 1. now position the wheels where they should be. use the select object tool and select a circle. set motor on. click "Add Center Joint", press A, press Left or Right On direction pad (this cycles to objects behind the selector) and press A again. That should attach a joint between the center of the wheel and the car. repeat for both wheels

  • Not for windows?

  • not for windows, just for xbox360

  • @xMONOx2

    its also on Computer

    its more better on computer

i forgot what the websites called but its on computer too

  • It's called Phun I think

  • Nah thats an physics engine too but it is way other then this

  • For the next update can you please add:

    - mass selection

    - color wheel

    - undo

    - have object choice to be behide objects or in front

    - have a setting so the object has no collision with any object

Please add when you can :)

  • Ha ha loving the new update! :) this game is definitely one of my best XBLIGames. *****

  • There is an update available for this game. You should be notified if you already bought it. It includes saving and loading, a bug fix, and a Contraption example that doesn't get extreme slowdown. Any questions or comments on the update are appreciated (good rating on xbox live also appreciated)

  • I have a large bounce but thanks anyway

  • This is actually really similar to Incredibots.

    (i'm not saying it's a rip-off)

  • never heard of Incredibots, but i got a lot of inspiration from Phun and Crayon Physics

  • I had a moveing circle with a rectange (small) attached to it and the circle move at 1.0 speed and strangth then it collides with a medium rectangle with a hinge at the bottem right by the small rectangle on the circle with both objects at 0.0 firiction bounce and 1.0 density. But it will still bounce...

  • even with 0 bounciness, an impulse is applied when the objects collide, so there will always be a small "bounce"

  • Ok I have no idea why this happens but if I set 2 colliding objects to 0.0 bounce they will still then I set one to 1.0 bounce and the other to 0.1 and then they won't bounce... Why?

  • I just tried what you said with two medium-sized rectangles, and at 0.0 they bounce very little while at 1.0/0.1, they bounce much more. can you give me more info on which objects you created, etc

  • i just downloaded this, but i cant figure out how to make a car or anything that moves on wheels, everytime i attacha a joint it just flies up into the sky??? could u help plz?

  • after you look at the examples u will get used 2 it cuz i just downloaded it 2 but i got it

  • create rectangle body, set its group to 1. create two circle bodies, set their group to 1, and motor ON. now overlap the circles where they need to be on the rectangle. add a joint between the circles and rectangle. to cycle which object to add a joint to (if objects overlap, click once on the spot, then use DPAD-left/right to cycle through objects and click again when the right object is selected. now you have a car :)

  • omg, tyvm, i didnt know that you could cycle through them, lol ty

  • Wow! Thanks for developing this! I have a huge soft spot for physics in games, especially physics games and I was kind of bummed at the lack of them on console. This actually fills the void. Keep up the awesome work!

  • Awesome game... any chance you will write for PC? I would buy

  • Try Phun!!! if you dont already have it...

  • AWESOME i didnt know you made this game. I love it, its so fun. I wish i could save all my stuff. Also when i play the contraption it gets really i mean really laggy. Also do you know when your update is going to be?

  • I finished programming the update. It takes care of the contraption example and adds saving and loading. I have to submit it for review before the release is updated. The review should take about 5-10 days. Thanks for the kind words.

  • Good news. There is one bug I've stumbled upon that I can't seem to replicate, if anyone else knows what I'm talking about maybe they can answer. It has to do with the polygon tool. Sometimes when I use it it wont let me keep making angles. From there I can't access any menu options and I can't complete the polygon. Only thing I can do is quit and restart.

  • The polygon tool only allows drawing closed polygons (lines cant cross). Ill start looking into why you cant access menu options.

  • god i wish i could save my things

  • I am submitting an update for review today. It will contain saving and loading, the previously mentioned bug fix, and a better performing "Contraption" example.

  • I found a glitch were if you on the example on soft body you set it so the orange balls to friction 0.0 bounciness 1.0 and density 0.0 all of them and play it quits. I did it 3 times.

  • Thanks a ton for posting this. Ill include the fix in the next update.

  • - Small details, like different backgrounds, ability to customize controls, maybe different music (though I gotta say I love the soft piano music!).

    - I don't want to make it sound like I hate this game or anything, in fact it's a great game, just one with a lot of room for improvement. Hope this has helped. This is all I could think of at the moment, if anything else comes to mind, I'll post it.

Sorry about all the posts, but Youtube wont allow comments over 500 characters. :(

  • - Having various sizes of areas to work on or just making one big size (if possible). Having it be as tall as it is long right now would be great. If not, it would be nice to lets say use the bumpers on the controller to switch from the far left side to the far right side instantly instead of just having to slowly scroll.

  • ...Not only that, nothing that is overlapped by the menu can be selected so for example I have to click, go left, click again, go right, click, etc...Just holding down the A button and then dragging your cursor to select multiple items would really help speed things up. This is where groups could play more of a role just in case certain objects are overlapping each other.

  • - I don't know if this is able to be fixed but the biggest problem I have is the lag from having too many objects on screen at once. And I have found out this is especially true when you copy many objects many times in the same spot. Once they come apart from each other, it's fine.

    - A mass select function and mass edit function. It's really tedious to have to select one item at a time just to delete them or modify them...

  • ...While the mouse is perfect for getting the accuracy you need with this type of game on a console, you could instead open something up a sub menu with the dpad and then mouse would disappear, then use the right thumbstick to select your options.

    - Warning when something is about to be deleted or at least an undo button. I have accidentally deleted my entire set up a few times because the delete button is almost right next to the play button.

  • - Could you please redo the UI for an update/sequel? Right now it's not very intuitive. I really do like the minimalism and the simple red, white, and black color scheme. Instead of taking up a third of the screen on the left side maybe you could make it pop up when you choose a certain object or better yet utilize all the buttons on the controller and map them there. An example would be games like Bioshock and Half Life 2 that have extended menus spring out from the dpad...

  • I'm glad I searched for the game on Youtube and found you, it's a lot of fun right now but would be great with some additional features.

    - As said by everyone else, save/load. I know you got that coming.

    - Is it possible to just add a complete color selection, even a simple one like in MS Paint? Also, I think this might be a bug, but you cannot click left when choosing a color once you're on white. you can choose colors when going right and go back to white, but you cant go back.

  • thanks for your input (a lot of it). I just have some performance fixes and save/load planned for the next update. For an update after that, i might add mass selection/edit. I like your idea of having the camera move when the cursor gets near the edge of the screen :) Glad you like the game.

  • I just got this XD its awesome!

  • Hey! This is a massivly awesome game! All it needs is a Save feature! (And maybe a 'Share' feature) The only other things that would add to it woud be a option to lower the frame rate (Made my game lag/crash to many times with large contraptions) And the other thing, which i'm not sure you have a choise over, is to play it offline, because i won't have live forever =] Anyway keep going with the awesome game!

  • I should have the save option up within a few weeks. As for playing offline, there is no way for me to make it possible to play offline. Glad you like it.

  • This game is my favourite indie game at the moment and I love the music :)

But it would be great if you added (after load/save and sharing features) a hinge that attaches two objects together rather than one to a fixed position in space. Presently, if I want to attach two objects together I have to attach many joints between both in order to securely fix them together, this could be made far simpler with a hinge that joins the two at a single point.

hope you take this into consideration :)

  • Im really glad you like it. Im going to be updating the game with a fixed "Contraption" example, better performance, and a save/load within a few weeks. At the moment, the physics engine doesnt support the joint you talk about, but I might add a more intelligent joint that just attaches two objects if they are in front of eachother

  • thank god for the save/load

  • Needs saving and I can't wait until you add it. I just found that out after working on something and I thought this was waste of money but if there's saving it'll be worth it.

  • Great game mate, also would be cool if you could add an option menu in the pause menu when ingame. :D

like for sensetivity, sound etc. the ones that are in the main menu.

also one problem i've been into which can be kinda annoying if your making something big. it's when you draw a polygon and you manage to get the drawer stuck in one of your lines, you can't do anything exept ending the game.

  • glad you like it. the game only supports closed polygons so, the lines cant cross over each other. ill look into ways to fix it so you dont have to end the game. Thanks for your help

  • Glad to hear that ;) just something simple like end the drawing or something :D

  • Where can I find indie games?

  • you can find indie games on the xbox live marketplace.

  • Love the game but please add an item that you can draw/make that explodes when hit with force. That and saveing shareing.

  • saving and sharing are on the todo list. you can create your own custom explosion objects using all the tools. to make the explosion you would add springs with small (or large) objects at the ends, then compress them. surround the compressed explosion springs with an object which you can move off the springs with the tool you are given during "Play" and an explosion will occur.

  • Can u make save/load ? And more stuff play with

  • At the moment, you cant save or load, but I plan to release an update which includes these features in the near future.

  • Physics sandbox is awesome game. I hope u give these features .

    1. Water

2 save/load (u rdy say is come soon)

    3. More tools.

    And more.

Look Phun 2D on youtube u maybe get more ide from there.

    Thx.

  • Ooh one more thing.

Is awesome if u can let us share like Little big planet

  • Thanks for your input. I may add water to the next update, but the physics engine i use only supports box shaped water sections (not like phun). Save and load will definitely be added. I may add sharing capabilities, but it will be a while since I have little networking experience.

  • Is there any difference between the actual game and the demo ? other than the time limit of course

  • as of now, there isnt any difference (besides time)

  • Thanks for the input. I'll add more examples and bigger text to my todo list. Also, ill try to put up a video tutorial as well.

    Thanks, Nick

  • this is kind of like "phun"

  • Thanks for your input. I'll work on a zoom in and out feature. Which text is too small? in game or help menu?

  • Whats your problem. Im willing to make updates on the game.

  • i still cant make car plz help

  • What you need to do is create the body and two circles for wheels. Make each of them share the same group (select object tool), then put a joint between the circles and the body (at the circles center), then make the circles have Motor: On instead of Off (select object tool again)

  • Very good game but i have got many suggestions for the second edition (if there is going to be one)

anyway is this your game which you have made

  • yes, i made this game. What are your suggestions?

  • very cool, good luck in DBP09
