  • What's the music in this video?

  • well you are good at drawing fire in the fireplace and went :DDD

  • They should have hired you to work on the Beowulf movie; this looks 1000 times better than what they put out.

  • Really,

I thought the film was very good.

not lousy at all, but there you go.

  • nice interpretation of a classic---thank the gods you didn't have Beowulf butt nekkid like in the lousy CGI film.

  • how about alien vs elmo for the next one?

  • Very cool!

Love your take on Grendel, almost frog like.

MUCH better than the STUPID idiotic 3D movie that just came out!.....

  • @MADdwarfWorkshop i kinda like the movie...but my one big criticism is that its hard to have an intimidating monster that sounds like a character from the rug rats.

  • Grendel looks like a giant toad.

  • @lonSinceInsane To me, the design makes sense; him living in a swamp, and all.

  • @SidRulz100 that is true...=p they never really say what he looks like xD

  • I don´t like the draw but the metod of construct the image´s space are perfect! i recomended to you more draw structure and more style in the caracters, studies painters like frazzeta,or wayne barlow, thanks to posted i learnned very things .

  • grendel...hmm he looks like a murloc :|

  • haha he does

  • haha he does

  • haha he does

  • he did.

i read the story about 3 years ago . read the story and you'll see what they added in the movie. a whole lot of stuff. but the movie was good.

  • actually i think beowulf faught with grendel naked.. I don't mind that grendel doesn't look like in the movie i actually like it more that way (allthough it looks like a warcraft murloc) but generaly good job i like the painting!!!

  • Yeah, he fights naked with Grendel. I saw the movie in the cinema

  • same in the original story

  • i didnt think grendel looked like that but its still great all the same XD

  • the movie "Beowulf" was based off of a thousand year pagan story.

  • Old English Epic poem

  • @scrunchymatic It's an Anglo-Saxon poem

  • Very nice skillz, liked Grendal looking like a giant murloc. ^_^

  • You don't think that it does? Hrm. Well, I think that the "frog-like" Grendel is perfectly acceptable, bearing in mind that his mother was aquatic and whatnot. I pictured him more humanoid, though.

  • haha nice use of the transform toll cool work

  • i like the way you did this, but, sorry to be a critic but shouldn't grendel's eye show pain? i mean his arm is being ripped off him..

  • Oooh, how do you make a room like that in photoshop? I use photoshop, but have no idea how to do that... it would be a great help! thanks - ps, these guys are one of my favourite subjects, great to draw! great lighting you've got here.

  • looks so cool. wish there was more blood.

would've made the battle more real...

  • Thanks. I stole some stuff from you but simply can't make it as perfect as you did...

  • Oh wow, what program are you using if I may ask?

  • Photoshop

Thanks to all for your comments.

  • thats pretty much exactly how I pictured grendel looking like! Good job!

  • Nice, The two characters does fit to be a model of the story. Beowulf, you may pictured him in anyway you like depend on your Anglo-Saxon taste. But Grendel, he was describe as a Cain by the story.

Dude, I like your taste, it's cool how you can put different effects to make it looks better.

  • carmina burana in the background very good ;)

  • lol at 1:19 when you took the break =D

idk why I thought it was funny

  • lol at what chiUK said.

  • You have a degree in Medieval Literature and yet you can´t spell it...

  • There are two ways of spelling the word, Captain Pedantic. I like spelling it the old-fashioned way.

  • His mother was definately a bit on the 'froggy' side, being a sea hag and all.

  • It was never made clear what Grendel was. He was always just called a 'monster' or 'beast'.

  • You know, I have a degree in Mediaeval Literature and yet I don't remember Grendel being a frog.

  • Well, he did live in a swamp ;)

  • Did grendel get his arm ripped off?

  • Oh yeah he did :)

  • artist cant reinterpret?

  • Of course the artist can reinterpret. I just don't happen to like this particular interpretation. Beowulf's armour and the mead-hall are out by about 400 years and in the story Grendel is a troll. What can I say? I never imagined trolls as looking that frog-like. I'm entitled to my opinion.

  • @Ovenchip Grendel in the original text never had a real description. All the story told was of his claws, teeth, etc. Nothing really if Grendel was a humanoid or anything. Great piece of literature, everybody has a different view of what Grendel may look like.

  • I'm always impressed by your attention to detail.
