Trebuchets were never inside castles, they were an offensive weapon, not defensive. Armies would build them on site using trees and materials from the surroundings, then use them to lay siege against a castle. They did not move, or have any need to move. Usually, an attacking army would defeat their opponents army and force them to take cover inside the castle walls. Then the attackers would camp out for months building siege machines like these to flatten the castle walls and gain access.
@tayjacsmith i dont know.. i dont know much abut medival stuff but how can they move it? or how cold they build it in peace in front of a castle without being banzai attacked?
never mind that last one.. of course they can;) you'r right..
@hqkill Maybe it was originally built in the castle... but maybe now... you can no longer see the outer walls... making it look like it's outside the planet.
@hqkill Sorry... Maybe I was doing something related to planets when I typed that comment. What I meant is "making it look like it's outside the castle". Sorry.
@MsDeusex it is movable... they were portable in the medievil times, they used those two wheels on the side to move it... they would take it down and pack al lthe wood and stuff on a platform suck with wheels to move...
@GraffitiMonkey100 This version is not movable... Those two are not wheels for moving... They are wheels for "winding" the trebuchet. People went inside and walked on it like what hamsters do on their wheels. The rotating motion of the wheel will wind the trebuchet.
@IanSumallo ummm dude they do not "wind" up the thing like hampsters you idiot they could not do that, it takes thousands of pounds of force to set it stupid
@THEONLYCH0SENONE I am not stupid... I've seen several videos of it already... and I believe it is the same trebuchet. They walk inside to wind up the trebuchet. What I said is possible considering there are complex pulleys that can amplify a man's pull to make it capable of lifting heavy weights. It takes several of revolutions so I believe it is indeed very powerful.
@THEONLYCH0SENONE stop throwing around words that you can barely pronounce ... ever heard of mechanical advantage ... people would get in it and wind it ... walking ten feet in it would move the counter weight by mere inches or centimeters because of a gear or belt system going from small to big.
@tw1st422 You call that small? It's big already. It's almost as big as their heads. A stone that big thrown over a long distance can crush almost any medieval wall... not in one hit though.
what are the wheel things on the sides?

If I had a trebuchet the first thing I'd fire is the heads of the enemy's defeated comrades. On fire. And filled with explosives.
