@Hannoi You don't have any idea about Russian-Germans, as they are called here and in Russia, and about their history. So please don't talk about it when you dont know about it. He was born in Kazakztan and because he has actually nthg to do with Russia, he cant get the Russian passport. The fact that he feels more "russian" than german has to do with the patriotism that they grow up with. Germany doesnt need Merkel. Here they have enough players that are at least as good as Merkel.

Or what do you think why it is so difficult to give him the russian passport???His parents are german from origin, thats why his name is MERKEL and not Morozov or sthg like that. As you said, just his mother is half. He and his parents feel russian, and I know why they feel that. I am that origin by myself. But when you ask his grandparents, they will tell you they are "Daitsche" (=Deutsche in an old german speaking). Lets see what will happen the next time. Russia needs him much more than germany does.
