I have every single metallica song on my phone, so i listen to them ALL the time. So once its in your head, you can get them off ear easier, and vid lessons become a breeze, I actually skip through most now, makes me feel smart xD but good luck :)

You should just play with what you have, but if you want to be extreme and get the same kind of sound, you need a bigger amp, i`ve got a Peavy 65w, and it`s not nearly as crunchy or raw as needed to match.

If you can "define" what kind of sound the amp makes when listening to songs it`s alot easier, as in here, there is just about no mid at all, alot of bass, drive at alot, experiment with it.
