I'm annoyed by how the brightniess is not uniform throughout the blade. These customized sabers all are much brighter near the base.

Hey Son of Adam. This lightsaber kit looks awesome. I'm trying to see if I can find this kit online before I head to the Star Wars Celebration/Convention in Orlando this year in August. But for some reason I cannot seem to find this kit online anywhere. I found one on amazon.com, but it's like $300. Any suggesstions where I can find this kit online at a not so high price? The only place I've seen these lately is Ebay and Amazon, unfortunately. I hope Hasbro brings it back now that they've taken the line over. You could get three new lightsabers for $300! If you want a new saber in time for the convention just grab your favorite hilt from the current Hasbro line. The blade lighting will be better that way as well. Hasbro is also releasing new FX sabers that have removable blades this August. Check out the shop.starwars website.

Peace be upon you. Thanks for the positive feedbck. You would have to have this saber modified by Ultrasabers to make the blade removable. Some cool news is that Hasbro has announced that they will be releasing some FX-Sabers that have removable blades in late 2010 :)

@alex83170, yes you are right. Better lighting and tubing can be applied. Additional metal parts would require costly custom machined parts. After you get your saber, consider becoming a member of the fx-sabers forum. It's a great community of lighsaber collectors and custom builders. You should also check out, The Custom Saber Shop website. Hope that helps :)

see, i thought all of master replicas had the LED strip along the blade, and that's why Ultrasabers offers the mail-in conversion, to make it more sturdy and duel ready...

so my question is:

can I duel full speed with it without the worries of a regular master replicas lightsaber about breaking the leds on the blade?

The construction kit saber is the only one in the Master Replicas line to NOT have the string of LEDs in the blade. So you don't have to worry about breaking LEDs when dueling with this one but I still would never duel at full speed -especially un-choreographed! ;) I hope that helps, thanks for writing.

The blade is definitely not as bright as a standard FX saber that has the LED strip going up the tube. the only reason got this one was because of the great price it was on sale for at the time. I would not pay the regular $100 price for this model. Hope that helps, thanks for writing.

I own two other ForceFX sabers (Mace Windu & Darth Maul Double) I just picked up one of these construction kits off from Ebay. I agree, it is very cool, and has some nice features, but overall I was disappointed. My plan was to display this saber next to my others. Unfortunately the kit does not come with the Master Replicas stand. It's also shorter, and feels MUCH cheaper than the other blades. It feels more like a toy and less like a "replica"

Master Replicas no longer has the license for this line, Hasbro does so check out the hasbrotoyshop website and search for Force FX Lightsabers and you will find the several that they now sell. FYI, they will be releasing a Dooku and Obi Wan (Clone Wars) lightsabers later this year.

It is an excellent purchase, and worth every penny (assuming one can still find it).

The pommel and emitter section pieces are metal and the activation, lower and upper grip sections are plastic. The inner tube that you slide all of this on is metal.

I was gonna get one of these, but a converted one by ultrasabers, but after I found out the pieces were plastic, I declined and instead got a converted Darth Vader one. Ya, pricey at $250 for the converted ones, but it's so much sweeter when you can take the blade off, duel with it, the sound is supposedly louder, etc.

Thanks for the great feedback. Standard, stock FX-Sabers have LED light strip inside the blade. I would only use these for very LIGHT dueling if you want the lights to last.

The blade looks a lot better than I thought it would, with the light in the hilt rather than the strips of LEDs in the previous sabers that MR have made. I wasn't sure about trying to track one of these down until I heard the different sounds that each of the colours produce, but that detail certainly pushed me towards finding one.

Well, the way the video camera exposes these blades makes them look much brighter than they actually are in person. The sabers with the LED strip in the hilt are definitely brighter. But this kit is a great saber with cool features for the price. thanks for writing :)
