  • do you have a picture of "The Ladders" they sang ..counting the stars ,hey pretty baby ,i want to know and one other... it would mean so much to me .. the lead singer johnny jackson ..and the bass douglas jackson were my uncles.. they are now deceased and their children and the family have been searching for just one picture of them with the group.. any help would be a blessing..GOD BLESS!

  • is there a list of the groups by order of appearance somewhere?

  • Can anybody identify the Turbans?

How did you guess?? Ha, ha.

  • cool!! phyllis

  • those spaniels maaaannn,cleftones,robins,

  • I've never seen so many guy's and girl's looking so happy having their pictures taken. It must be they enjoy singing Doo-Wop, the greatest sounding music to one's ear.

  • Great collection of some of the greatest of all times. Interesting to see the variation of posing, hand gestures, and leg positions. I've got a shot of a group out of Pittsburgh that I'd like to send you. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks for the great post!

  • I love "Please Don't Tease". I think Vee-Jay put out the best music in the 50's...especially those Spaniels the greatest group ....

  • I did a project on Doo Wop music and I had fun composing a "doo wop sound piece" on the computer.

  • I'm embarassed...I only got a few of these, as I don't always know the names/faces that go with the sounds. Lee Andrews, Platters, Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, the Nutmegs? (Rajahs of Acappella?) Little Richard, Paragons/Universals...I have an LP with the "globe" on it. Smokie/Miracles, etc. The easy ones. Hope you post the names somewhere. Thanks so much!

  • No one understood doowop in the U K until the Beatles.Only a few of the records charted here like the Marcels.

One of the oddest of these groups was the MAJORS who sounded as if the girl member was the lead singer-this was about the poorest of the genre

  • another legacy of doo wop, besides The beatles are the Beach Boys

  • Whats the names of these groups and the songs their singing?? I was born in 1990 but i love 50s and 60s music especially the true Rnb!! Better than any of the crap they put out today!!!

  • God bless you, Bonitamorena!!!! I was born in '59, but have adored doo-wop all my life. I was asked once..."How can you listen to that music with groups like Flock of Seagulls out there?" Just lucky I guess! Doo Wop,'til you drop!!! Any age, any time!

  • You said it!! : )

  • Oh My God, That was stunning, I love it!!! I love Doo Wop. I didn't grow up in that era, But my dad did, and I grew up listening, to his old records. Of all the music on the planet, Doo Wop will forever, be the best!!!

  • DOO WOP FOREVER.

  • Great collection! Let's do a book. I'm a graphic designer on the West Coast and also sing doo wop. I've got a photo of a group that you don't have that I'd like to share with you. Thanks, Jan Detanna

  • You can get a lot of them on Ebay. A musican going under the tag oldies@recordmike has tons of doowop photos

  • True Doo Wop to the bone.Wish I knew where to purchase the photos, can't find in Texas.

    Yolie

  • doo-wop brings back memories all the time :P

  • Doo-Wop is King!

  • hey its the temptasions

  • Little Joe, is still performing, his hit was "Peanuts"

  • Very nice, but a lot of the names can't be read.

  • Forget Metallica, , Rodney Rhymes, Snoop Kitty Kat, Seance Knowles, P. Dimwit or Jenny from the Bedroom. The groups/singers of the '50s-'70s really knew how to do it. Unlike today's performers, they had it or still have it.

  • Doo Wop is the best music ever!

  • A nice little piece of history.

  • Excellent!
