If the pole is smoking, the power is still on!!!!!!! Just walk underneath the wires though, electricity can't jump a gap.........

Electricity can't jump a gap? That is a VERY uninformed statement. Electricity can and does "jump gaps".

OSHA has set a minimum approach distance(MAD) for that very situation.  10ft for the first 50Kv and 5ft for every 30Kv thereafter. Just FYI.

Yeah i live in Catonsville, MD and theres shit load of deer next to my house. Tho they seem to be smart when to cross. :)
