@Brakerofwind Note that the killing shot has to be a headshot - sorry if I sound condescending here, but are you actually getting a critical headshot kill? If you hadn't noticed, you have to let the gun "recharge" for about a second between shots in order for the crit headshot to work (i.e. you have to headshot, wait about a second, then headshot again, rather than shooting someone twice in the head).

I am trying to get my Skullpluggery achievement- I got like 9 more kills to go but no matter how clean of a headshot I get, It says I kill them just but shooting them; not a headshot.

I usually find razorback snipers and shoot but it gives me the ambassador icon, not a headshot icon. Any tips?

@Brakerofwind I'm sure you've gotten the achiev by now, but with the amby it's usually best to get a meatshot first, then to get a headshot. This'll lower their health <102 so when you get the shot it'll finish them off.

The Ambassador is especially useful against Razorback Snipers since trying to backstab them is an especially bad idea. With the Ambassador, you just disguise as a sniper, go to the battlements, one headshot, one normal shot and they're dead.

I hate how many people diss the ambassador, it deals more damage then norm revolver, on headshot, is supper accurate, and it means less noob spys runninround, blastin everyone in the foot with the unacurate first bullet. However i dissagree withe everyone who says that it does less than the revolver. Ive done the statistics and: found: Norm crit, 110; Ambass.., 125} meaning you can take down scouts instantly, unless they have full poly pack, with a luck head shot.

I use mine single shot, waiting for cooldown. btw 15% less dmg is on a body shot. no random crits is to prevent the 125 dmg instantly killing scouts. you have to get good. like i said before i single shot, but it is still more acurate than norm revolver after the first shot.

The Ambassador is so much better than the normal revolver, especially for escaping. People are far less likely to pursue you once you've given them a head shot crit. :)

Plugging snipers is nice too.

I am not a fan of the Ambassador. DOn't get me wrong, it's a good gun for those who are more precise killers, but the Revolver has better accuracy in medium range which is ussally what i stick to when playing a spy because standing to close to an enemy disguised kinda makes you suspicious.

@chilimaan22 Well, its an acheivment item so it CANT be crafted however it is required to craft the southern hospitality (Mine is named the wrench of ultimate ass kicking) and the let'ranger basicly the letranger does less damage than the revolver but not as much as a headshotting spy. only plus? 15% added to your cloak with every hit.

the ambbasader is useless now that it needs to cool to get crits on headshot. should be any bullet but the accuracuy decreases making it somewhat balanced. the 20% slower firing rate and the 15% damage decrease is the icing on ze cake

when it came out u could get headshots with any bullet without cooldown but the accuracy stil decreased but if u was that close it could not miss it was overpowered

i think what ur asking is how can you tell if an enemy spy is disguised as one of your team, one way is that you cant walk through enemies.

however

if what you are asking is how do you tell if a friendly spy is disguised as an enemy then the answer is that he will have a mask with the face of the class he is disguised as.

I feel the ambassador was a poor decision by valve, and as trite as that and this may sound, some unlockables I've personally deemed a "hazard to my gameplay," like the targe, bonk, and dead ringer, simply smelted in the absence of good item design.

to back up my insisting opinion, the targe should not have fire defence, bonk should not shield fire nor block enemies, and the dead ringer simply needs a new characteristic makeover- losing the high damage reduction for an instant decloak.

the ambassador has changed A LOT. In this video headshots are mini crits even after the first shot. Now you get normal crits with the first shot when the crosshair is tiny. Also it seems the ambassador does way more damage in this video.

unless you're ridiculously accurate revolver is always better than ambassador.

It hits harder and can be shot more frequently, the only difference is the first shot of the ambassador, which can be aimed for the head.

If you miss the first shot and you've been spotted you're much better off with the revolver.

@Penguinmenace Actually depends. Revolver sure gives you a close/medium quarts advantage over the ambassador which is long/medium range. However, even if you are spotted and have the amba I can still easily finish off enemies. Really just depends on the player.

Amba:

- Long/Medium capabilities

- Can kill heavy classes in head on instances (such as heavy)

Revolver:

- Medium/Close capabilities

- Can kill lighter classes easily (especially scouts)

Also i've never heard of a heavy falling to an ambassador...

Rapid fire is always revolver if you're so good you can make that single shot of ambassador worth more than the rapid fire ability of the revolver than sure.

Generally though I find that the people with the worst aim are the ones using the ambassador...

The long range headshotting gives you extra flexibility as spy if there are certain unstabbable/sappable objects, though if I really wanna snipe with it for the hell of it then sure.

Rapid fire is, handsdown, the revolver though. Like you said about the single headshot bit, I usually let my amba cool down and finish off tankish classes in 2 - 3 hits

I'm not sure about your general statement though because I've rarely met people that use the ambassador or revolver frequently.

O yeah my statement was pretty general lol there are some pro's who make use of ambassador.

However a cloak and dagger spy is a million times more effective with a revolver because they need to be able to shoot rapid fire while running.

A dead ringer spy (I almost always play as deadringer =p) Can conceivably prefer ambassador because of the ridiculous damage reduction you get during the eight seconds of deadringer. You can use this to escape and only use ambassador as longrange killing.

I don't see how a swiss army knife will help and they have smaller blades meaning it propbably wouldn't kill you instantly with a stab in the spine so you can stab them and the person dies from bleeding unless he finds a health pack, a bit like the setting someone of fire system. As for a tazor knife I guess if you don't backstab them then it stuns them instead letting you then backstab them which would be very useful.

0,8 of normal speed and 0,85 of normal damage = 0,68 of normal DPS.

Assuming that one out of six shots will be crit, and that crit is 3x dmg it's:

5 shots for total 4,25 dmg of normal rev and a crit for 2,55 of rev bullet dmg.

So with 6 shots/1 crit it deal 6,8 dmg(1 dmg = 1 normal bullet of rev.) and revolver does 6.

BUT! 6 shots from rev. is 6 and 6 of the amb. is 7,2. So it's not that useful.

There really is no such thing as "Offensive" or the other way version of spy or any other class, people just say that to make them feel good about themselves lol, spy is always a spy and it doesnt change one bit. And in my opinion dead ringer is useless if you are not playing against only a few people.

Um..noob..spy much? There is and actually depends on how you play him. You can try to camp at the intel or your base and try to defend it with leaping stabs. Or you can be a support and just stall enemies by backstabbing a hell lot. You can even just watch and tell your team what plans they are making. Don't think you know everything. Spy is a complex class. I don't think your cut out for it. Stick to Scout.
