The real story is that a boy left it there in the 50s and went playing with the other kids and then he forgot his bike which he never liked... the WWI story is just an urban legend. By the way, why is the camera guy panting like he had run 10 miles before making this video? :D
Maybe because he had the wrong directions on how to find bike in a tree and had parked a quarter mile down the road then when he found it he jogged back to his bike after he realized that he had left the camera in the saddle bag and then rode it up to the proper location before filming and maybe the fact the sony camcorder is equipped with a omnidirectional mic that annoyingly picks up sound from the operator a little too well ...... just a guess ... maybe... Who made you a film critic anyway???
@soulreaver1986 must be a critic, because between this channel and my other one I have posted over 200 videos, looking at your channel I see you have posted none but made plenty of comments to others.
@zollna it's not "pirated stuff"... it's a very very old song from my childhood which i couldn't find anywhere on youtube so I uploaded it. It was only available on bakelite
@soulreaver1986 If you did not produce it, or hold a licence to use it and post to you tube it's pirated. sorry , read your goggle terms of service. It's silly I know, but there are whole companies making millions of dollars by suing people for just that
@soulreaver1986 It doesn't matter that you got it from bakelite or not, you could have recorded it off the radio as long as it is for personal use, all is good, but as soon as you put it on you tube it became a copyright infringement.
@soulreaver1986 I dont think so, I have been doing some investigation on it, first trees (fir in this case) don't grow up at the base only out, trees extend height at the growing tips at the top of the tree and the ends of branches or shoots, with the bike 7 feet up the tree meens its wasn't chained at the base and is way to high for a small child to have put it up there, to me it looks like the bike was placed in a fork of the tree the smaller fork broke off and the tree filled in the gap.
talking to the locals on this small isolated island people rarley even today lock up thier bikes. the closest typ of bike I could find to the bike in the tree (going by frame design and solid spoked rubber tires) is a 1961 hop along or a 1955 puch, the puch was a rare german made bike and were quite expensive the hop along was readly available in the sears catalog.( still researching) I cant see it being much earlier than that because synthetic rubber wasnt in wide use till after the war.
@M1919A Can you explain why the bike looks no more than 60 years old ? Can you explain why the bike is for a child of no more than 9 years old ? Did kids even chain bikes up in 1914 on Vashon Island ?
we should x;ray the tree, just to make sure the kid isn't still on the bike....

How sad that someone vandalized it. Why do people have to destroy things?

You rode a bike to go see the bike in the tree. :)

A young man left to fight in WWI and chained his bike to a tree. He never made it home and his family left the bike by the tree in his memory
