I was really touched by your story David- my family had been following it since we first heard of it on CNN and Dateline- it was so nice to see the updated report tonight on Dateline and to see that Sean is adjusting reasonably well.... I hope you both can heal from this ordeal.

When a country signs a treaty, they carefully decide whether they will follow their own local rules OR those of the treaty. Brazil KNEW when it signed the treaty, that it MUST abide by the treaty. Brazil has USED the treaty to recover it's OWN children. Many countries have reunited children and parents from Brazil despite the rules of their own countries, THEY honored THEIR signature, and sent those children back to BRAZIL regardless of Sovereignty. BRAZIL NEEDS TO DO THE SAME.

As a Brazilian who lives legally in the US I believe this child belongs to it's biological father. Many Brazilians I speak with in Brazil talk about patriotism when it has nothing to do with this matter. I see one father, one child and they are not together, which is beyond me or any logical comprehension.

The Brazilian government, MY GOVERNMENT, have the obligations to follow the law, and if an American parent will benefit, so be it. Stop misdirected patriotism, this kid has a dad.
