Arma 3 isnt out yet. Goto the Arma 2 website and download the free version or the demo. Free version: multiplayer, no campaign, scenario missions available + you can download more, only very low/ low graphic settings, no mod support, full editor, about 500mb. Demo: I dont know anything about it. Arma 2 has a steep learning curve and will take awhile. the default map is about 14km squared, there is many forms of transport, and the player/npc limit is very high. but very demanding

@Eddytje1 first of all a quad core isn't gonna help you shit in most games. I have an e8400 running at 4GHz and I play arma 2 on the highest settings with 4xAA, with increased view distance and it's super smooth. I have a gtx560ti btw, overclocked to 1GHz core. skyrim also runs at 60 fps at max settings with 4xAA in 99% of the places. so, something is fucked up about your system, you should check it out.

the scenes in the video don't look much different than arma 2 to be honest.

I absolutely love both..and now i dunno what to play first...BF is little bit more arcade,but more action,effects,and very rich sound,but arma has a huge world,more sandbox,and its forced into simulation..wich makes it too epic,but sometimes it gets boring..i said sometimes ..when you play multiplayer,you dont must shoot at every what moves,you can enjoy some fun,do a crazy things,fly in helicopter like badass, (i know i maybe sound like a little kid)but both gives you TONS of no ending fun...

What is your playstyle, BF3 has a call of duty playstyle in terms of obligation to "run and gun" and chase perks/rewards. Good game if you want arcade. NO Mods.

ARMA3, milsim and a thinker game, with mods which i am sure they will make a mod that plays more of a arcade style if you wanted one. (Advance& secure in ARMA2)

Battlefield is very realistic but there really are arcadish aspects, I Love Battlefield And I would love a good simulator game like this, only this doesn't cut it. If Dice would ever make a simulator game with the Frostbite 2 engine then it would be perfect, cause this just looks too empty to me.

@chinchek BF3 doesnt have a playstyle that adapts to everyone, the players adapt to it. Your only considering things like TDM and Rush. Certain people have different playstyles. I have some buds and we do it legit(i.e. I am a sniper, my primary objective is to get to an overwatch point and use my scope or MAV to gain intel on players positions.) While i do this the work together to navigate the city maps using my drone to check corners and designate targets. You can do the same in arma.

There is a difference between setting your self up with a clan / friends to have a tactical experience (BF3) FROM just joining a server knowing the people you are about to play with WILL most likely has the same tactical mindset as you do (ARMA, i observed this and still holds true to ARMA2:OA players) .

There hasnt been 1 pub in arma which i joined where your complete stranger team mates will just run by you when you need a revive. maybe the odd 1, distractions maybe.

players in ARMA tend to play buddy system with strangers than people do in BF3. I observe this stuff, if you want a buddy, you need to join a clan, platoon, play with friends. Not something everyone wants to do, he/she should not be told or forced to join social clubs (IRL social exists for that too).

If you play with specific people, but the majority adapted the call of duty "for yourself" attitude. Run and Gun is the norm of BF3, not accepted by all, but its the norm.

Not playing that BF2 traditional style because of certain CoD influence which come in many ways, depends on how you see it.
