Look gothic/Doom metal or not, what makes Gothic/Doom metal so good is that you have a lead or accompanying female vocalist along with it. Additionally, the lyrics with good slow-style guitar work is pivitol in excellent gothic/doom metal. You can't have gothic/doom metal with just only male vocals but YOU CAN have gothic/doom metal with just female vocals. Therefore the female vocalist in this genre is a MUST.

Draconian does this extremely well. Excellent music.

Draconian was the first gothic doom metal band I listened to, and it's still my favorite one. I'll listen to other bands and be like "Wow, this is amazing" but then come back to Draconian and realize that it's still the best band (in my opinion).
