Come on kurnellampdwarf. Every firedept across the word, im pretty sure has the same sops and sogs, this job is dangerous enough as it is, so why put ur self in even more of harms way by not wearing your SCBA in a area that is highly toxic, not chirping the department at all, i am just saying be safe about it.
Most of the so called firefighting experts thats are always finding fault with everyone. Most of you dont have the courage to tell everyone your name and where you live or to contact that departments Chief and tell him your thoughts. . Some depts out there are having money, management, manpower, and Moral is at an all time low in the Fire Service.Yet these people go to work and endure what they endure and then have to read all this expert advice. Im sure you experts are dept training officers.
these are great training videos, i dont think these guys are nitpicking, hopefully the things they are pointing out they get right themselves when they go to structure fires. we can all learn alot from other peoples mistakes.
First, the guy venting the back is the driver. Second, all these people complaing about him not having a pack on, who cares I eat more smoke when I cook on my BBQ. Maybe the operaters are not required to wear ppe. NFPA are guidelines not requirments and if they are then we all better throw out our SOGS. Every department is different and if it works without injury then I don't see a problem. Not everyone has the luxury of a 4 or 5 man crew. I don't recall ever seeing a fire go 100% by the book.
Douche @ 2:20..I hope you cut your hand. That's what you get for being an idiot. People like you make the NFPA make crazy ass restrictions on safety, because you refuse to follow simple PPE standards.
This fire was a one room job, the chauffer or whatever he is at the front door isnt gonna get hurt. Why does every person on youtube or FF forums feel the need to nit pick every dept. apart? You see guys in Detroit and D.C. up on roofs with no air pack and noone has the balls to say anything to them. why because theyre the one gettin it done.
@jacobstern14048 Because the common couch potato and or armchair qb has nothing better to do than critique everyone but themselves. I agree 100% with you and feel the fd did a fine job. Some people have nothing better to do other than bad mouth other departments. It's easy to hide behind a computer screen
@mabas21 Indeed, the fire service isn't what it used to be, you get alot of phonies that get their rocks off in training seminars and reading text books. Granted im not saying dont train, but these guys who get 1 barn fire a year will get online and bad mouth everyone out there if they do something that's not strictly "by the book". That is the reason I cancelled each and every FF forum membership I had.
@mabas21 Stupid is stupid no matter who does it. If you don't like people pointing out the stupid things that go on in your videos then don't post them or edit the bad parts out. It would only take the driver a few seconds to put on a helmet and gloves, grab a pike pole and he'd be golden. If your brother firefighters point out obvious blunders maybe Gary should learn from it. When guys from our own Dept. do stupid things we call them on it. Because that can cause us all to be in danger.
@43firerescue No helmet, no gloves, no fire gear and standing in the doorway of a burning building. Not to mention leaving the truck unattended. You don't need to be a Chief to spot the errors.
@ffjsb - and let me guess, IF you're even a firefighter, you're company is just fucking perfect right? give me a break, he was doing nothing that put his life at risk!! if he went in the building what so ever then i would say different,
@43firerescue Yes, I am a firefighter. With almost 30 years of experience. I'm not going to claim everything my fellow firefighters or myself have done is perfect, we have made mistakes. But this video clearly shows some basic safety issues that the driver should not repeat. I'm not going to question whether you're a firefighter or not, but you clearly are immature.
@ffjsb - im immature for asking if you're a firefighter? i simply asked because there are alot of people who have somthing to say about topics like this, but don't know anything about it? again there was nothing done to risk the life of the guy in black. im not arguing with you anymore..have a good day and be safe!!
@43firerescue No, you're immature because of the language you're using and the fact that you can't recognize what should be standard fireground safety rules. Learn to act safely so you can become an OLD firefighter.
@ffjsb - wow im sorry i thought you were a firefighter, didnt relize strong words offended you!! look i respect you for the years of service you have, but ill say it again, this guys life was not at risk..
@43firerescue No, he probably wasn't going to die from any injury on a fire that size. But the fact is he could be injured, even severely, and that would require additional resources to take care of him. Not to mention lost work days, pain and suffering. Not the worst mistakes ever made, but something to learn from. Like I said, if he had at least a helmet and gloves, and used a pike pole for a little distance he'd be good. Guys have been killed on dumpster fires, don't get complacent.
@43firerescue BTW, what do you think would happen to the driver when one of the interior firefighters goes to the 2nd floor and starts busting out windows to ventilate? What's going to protect him from a shower of broken glass?
why are you guys so concerned with who has turn out gear on or not? are you jealous because you must wear it? dont worry about who has bunker gear on or not maybe he feels he doesnt need it. doesnt mean he cant help out
what the hell is he doing near the fire scene without full ppe dont answer because there is no excuse possible for doing it especially if your an officer
@t2dfyre I think the "guy" with no gear is the MPO. The company went on a "still alarm" that means by themselves so the are very short handed at a working fire. Sometimes, and I had to when I was driving was help out like he did. Looks to me like a nice stop given the circumstances. Good work, Brothers.
This video is a perfect example of why our fire dept. pencil pushers should not try to help at a fire. I apoligize for some of his (radio repair guy) actions. He should have never had an axe in his hands. LOL Sorry brothers we have our red headed step children also. Be safe Ed and thanks again for being there for us.
the batallion chief (it looks like) i think shouldnt have gone without any gear glad he didnt get hurt but if the fire did something crazy when he opened that door or broke in the window he wouldnt have had a chance
Really? Waiting until you're in front of the fire building to donn your mask and then standing IN the smoke to do it? And about those pesky "things" hanging down in the way... ya, the "waist belt" for the B/A! They tend to work best if actually fastened (IF they'll even fit around you!) And the joker running around with NO PPE's and the axe... either get fully suited up and work safely or stay back and do whatever it is that you might actually do! I mean. come on guys! Good Luck GFD!!!
I don't think I have seen a masked be donned anywhere else. You must be one of those guys that gets off the rig already masked up and on air. Yea, maybe they could have been back 5 feet, but really, come on. All this armchair quarterbacking and criticizing departments on this site gets annoying, and THAT'S ALL YOU DO....BITCH ABOUT SHIT!! People screw up, people do things differently.
Firewacker does exactly what his name implies, he whacks it to a fire, even if it is not a building but is a house, where the previously said is possible on whatever planet he is from lmao. good vid ed. bout damn time we have something to watch again lol
LMAO, missed three on the west side yesterday and early this morning. PISSES ME OFF!!! 27th and Calhoun a trailer, 7th and Matthews a house, and 900 Ralston a 25x45 2 story frame. NOT COOL
yeah yesterday we had a fully involed abandon house fire me and a friend of mine was first on scene one of our trucks was in the town next to use helping them with a 40 acre plus grass fire and we had a truck in town but the only person that could drive it was at work 8 miles away so needless to say me and my friend(we are both 14) grabed a garden house and started cooling the houses next to the burning house. Great job on this fire keep up the good job
Dude you have to be smoking some great shit, the definition of a structure is something (as a building) that is constructed per websters. House falls under that definition. I have to know, what do you consider a house if it's not a building? My God, you are something else.I have dealt with stupidity, but this has to be in the top 5
definition of a structure: Something made up of a number of parts that are held or put together in a particular way. Something constructed, such as a building. a structure that has a roof and walls and stands more or less permanently in one place; "there was a three-story building on the corner". structures collectively in which people are housed
sounds to me that a structure is both. why make a big deal. my department dispatches all "dwellings" as "structure fires"
why would they give it more air to feed on.... These guys need to be more trained
