This song is a direct example of what is going on inside me. For a long time I have had a very hard time surrendering to God. Last Sunday I accepted the lord as my savior and even though it is hard to let go, I know that is something I have to do and I am doing it.

I remember when I first heard this song on K-Love, I was having a bad day and questioning my faith and what direction God wanted me go. Then this song came on, it was what I need. A great song to sing to while crying, questioning, and laying it all down to God.
i really wish this wasn't limited by the undertone of a purely christian intention. through the subjective experience of reality, and as indicated by the very things this song calls upon, there is some larger nature to the universe, conscious or other wise. now why would any of the religions of our pale blue dot get it "just right" the truth. If you think you got it, in some old book steeped in tradition, then stop. your missing it. think even bigger and smaller all at the same time.
talking about the video, i my opinion, i think i could've been directed better. the director has put the right shots in at the right times. its good song and all, but i think that the video could've been more personal and portrayed more emotion if they changed the shots.

If what you say is true ~ why type such hateful things...give your pain to God, and He will bring you through it. Similar has happened to me, but by a relative. Ever since I put my trust in Jesus, I have been able to go through anything. It's certainly your right to not give it to Him to help you, and be miserable for the rest of your life.

I wet to their concert in Ca a couple years ago and was blessed. They were awesome and personable. I can't even believe I am writing this, but last night Matt Hammitt dedicated this song to me, in front of everyone. I was dx w/ stage3c colon cancer at age 34. Almost 2 yrs. post chemo & doing as good as I can be. I had ran into Matt in the hallway & shared my story. I am sure he meant 'dedicated' for just the evening (?), but what an honor! People are always condemning that which they fear or do not understand. Since God is omnipotent and omnipresent not to mention invisible it is hard for the non-believer to believe in Him or understand that He could love them or be their salvation. The best song by sanctus Real is 'Forgiven'. You don't have to carry the burden of your past life once you have accepted Christ because you have been ~Forgiven.

I can listen to secular music and God speaks to my heart through it because as Sanctus Real puts it, "I'm (I've) given in to something Heavenly". Alright..to start with im not a puritan. im whats called a born again Christian. we cant believe the same things i mean the first commandment is you shall have no other gods before me. this means we should put nothing is before God. it also says in Luke 10:27,"You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind." im not saying everyone has to believe this, but if Jesus Christ is yur savior, then He shud be your main priority.
So my point is, I respect what you believe completely. I even believe many of the same things you seem to. But why do we have to make everything in our lives about God? Why be such a Puritan? That is what you're being if you make God 100% of your life.

He,he why right away Puritan? If we talk about God "too much" it's simply because He is too good to not talk about. It's like if you want a 100% life you should try to have 100% God in it. And you will see how much you will be talking about it! Once it is personal, it is not a religion anymore, it's a live amazing relationship with the most wonderful person ever who completely understands and completely loves you. It is very difficult not to talk about it.
also granted, it could be a love song about his own experiences, but many young Christian bands have hidden messages in their lyrics. this is usually because non- Christians like their music as well as Christians and by making music that reaches out to them as well as praising God.

This song touched me deeply and helped me to stay focused on God and not give up during the most painful time of my life - after losing my parents and my stillborn all in the same year. I wet to their concert in Ca a couple years ago and was blessed. They were awesome and personable. Thank God He has a purpose for everything and that He loved me enough to inspire them with this song, when I needed to be reminded of this truth. Selah.

I can't even believe I am writing this, but last night Matt Hammitt dedicated this song to me, in front of everyone. I was dx w/ stage3c colon cancer at age 34. Almost 2 yrs. post chemo & doing as good as I can be. I had ran into Matt in the hallway & shared my story. I am sure he meant 'dedicated' for just the evening (?), but what an honor! For all the lives touched by cancer, may this song also bring you comfort. Hugs ~ Melanie

People are always condemning that which they fear or do not understand. Since God is omnipotent and omnipresent not to mention invisible it is hard for the non-believer to believe in Him or understand that He could love them or be their salvation. The best song by sanctus Real is 'Forgiven'. You don't have to carry the burden of your past life once you have accepted Christ because you have been ~Forgiven.

You are all right! :-) As GodBelievesInMe said, just enjoy the song. Music, like art is to be interpreted by the hearer. I can listen to secular music and God speaks to my heart through it because as Sanctus Real puts it, "I'm (I've) given in to something Heavenly". For most of us it is scary and difficult to submit to God's will. After all, we can see the future and know what is best, right??? The biggest change comes from the biggest pain. Coal + great pressure + time = diamond! :-)

Let me start by saying, that I'm not Christian, I'm Unitarian Universalist. I believe in God and I also believe that Jesus Christ is my savior.
Here's what I want to ask you: does EVERYTHING have to be about God? I realize that they are a Christian band, but is it possible to interpret a song in different ways? Does the song have to be about God? Can't it be about a girl he fell in love with without even realizing it (as cliche as it is)?

Alright..to start with im not a puritan. im whats called a born again Christian. we cant believe the same things i mean the first commandment is you shall have no other gods before me. this means we should put nothing is before God. it also says in Luke 10:27,"You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind." im not saying everyone has to believe this, but if Jesus Christ is yur savior, then He shud be your main priority.

So my point is, I respect what you believe completely. I even believe many of the same things you seem to. But why do we have to make everything in our lives about God? Why be such a Puritan? That is what you're being if you make God 100% of your life.

He,he why right away Puritan? If we talk about God "too much" it's simply because He is too good to not talk about. It's like if you want a 100% life you should try to have 100% God in it. And you will see how much you will be talking about it! Once it is personal, it is not a religion anymore, it's a live amazing relationship with the most wonderful person ever who completely understands and completely loves you. It is very difficult not to talk about it.

also granted, it could be a love song about his own experiences, but many young Christian bands have hidden messages in their lyrics. this is usually because non- Christians like their music as well as Christians and by making music that reaches out to them as well as praising God.
