If you're using Mo'creatures, which I believe adds ogres, you're going to need a well lit upper portion of your house. Ogres are worse than creepers.

Quickest way to get started is to break down one tree (5 logs), turn them all into planks (20 total), use 4 for a bench (16 left) then use 4 to make sticks (12 planks, 8 sticks remain). Then you craft ONE pick...then mine out 14 cobble to create 1 furnace, 1 stone pick and 1 stone axe. Then you can break down trees much faster, allowing you to get charcoal easier and even break the logs down into planks for a quicker shelter. :)

luclin use this texture it makes the ores sparkle. the only thing you have to do is open it up and delete the animated grass file so it doesn't mess with your mod

with the lava on the surface a cobblestone factory wich later if you get some red stone you could automate it. how it will help you survive simply you dont have to dig out masses of cobble stone and you can stay on the surface sunbathing more :-)
