  • Read the comments before hearing the talk, I understand now most of the negative tending comments come from more bafflement as to how this talk is from a very personal point. The African way to communicate, rarely expressed in other parts of the world or those in Africa that have considerable non-african influences.

Powerful story, Vital Responsibility, for Africa to be more then the Bottom less pit it appears as and unspoken at the same time a source of many resource physical and Human.

  • haha "err no you're not" - deep.

  • east african women are very gorgeous as usual

  • The solution to African development is let Africans speak and work on their own affairs. It will always be better off with the neocolonial intervention of the aid industry.

  • PRESIDENT OBAMA NEEDS TO SEE THIS!

  • Was this presentation in Africa or u.s.a,can someone please tell me.

  • In Arusha, Tanzania.

  • she's hot, love her natural look

  • this is what i always tell people the images they put up of africa in the media works greatly against us.

  • Good ideas, touched what the young Africa or kenya wants.. change will come one day. Ameni

  • 8:05 what does that picture show, that makes everyone laugh. its a little bit fuzzy

  • Thank you for sending me this video. It speaks volumes, and its an honor to see it! Well spoken!

  • right on point girl keep moving full speed ahead.

  • Excellent, excellent words.

  • That girl was hot when we were growing up in "Mada". I think they were a tard well off compared to some of us. We'd love to do something but circumstances are tough here in the US.

  • how did her dad get aids?

  • bitches deleted my comments

  • 9:40 - laughing at the white person with the "I am African" banner is just so hypocritical and in my opinion belies the racism that boils just underneath the surface of many of these "activists". (African can be a geographical identity as well as ethnic, Ms. Okolloh)

What would the reaction have been if the speaker was white and the picture was of a black woman with an "I am European" banner beneath her, and the white speaker laughs hysterically, "No you're not! Ha ha ha ha ha"??

  • I think that, for example, if a black african from, lets say Ghana who had a Ghanain passport and had only visited Japan had said he/she was japanese, it would illicit the same hillarity. Its not racist, just not politically correct. If you want to pose a decent argument at least defend that actress in the picture by stating that all people are thought to have originated in Africa, so everyone is African. If a black american said he was European it would also be just as silly.

  • Comment removed

  • wow ur quite ignorant u know. That woman is american as they come. If that was charlize theron i would understand ur comment she is south african. But GWEN IS AMERICAN.

  • @sguardian870 She is kenyan

  • Hey,watch it! Don't talk about my girl like that!

  • 'Don't complain or criticize'.. 'We need to blog!' in my experience 90+% of blogs are complaining or criticizing something. =>

PS Maybe I'm naive, but she said she wasnt especially poor when young but something couldnt afford breakfast - but expects others to blog on their 'computers' ? Maybe a program of distributing refurbished computers and tech to africans would be more realistic and have more of an impact. Open a dialogue and encourage communication and ideas. ?

  • lolz "i am african" campaign...and she says "no you're not!"

  • i love how blacks focus on one person when they talk about problems.

im talking about the majority when i speak

  • You're an ignorant fool, aren't you

  • depends ignorant to what? because i know more about africa than you probably and i know more about human anthropology and biology than you too

i used to think it was ignorant to think black men acted all the same... but then i got out a saw for myself and you know what? maybe people arent racist for trivial reasons like color of skin. maybe theres more than some sweet really comforting thing to say to make you feel better

so you didnt finish you question what am i ignoring making me ignorant

  • Just because you have knowledge doesn't exclude you from being ignorant

You are ignorant and you know it... and pathetic too

  • and.... im ignorant to what? in order for me to be ignorant i need to ignore something dont i?

or have you been raised to think that ignorant is just something you can call people when your angry at them?(sorry but that doesnt make anyone ignorant just because you say so)

im pretty sure what you say im ignoring i know about and am not ignoring it. this isnt some white supremecist your talking to, im racist to all races but i do know which ones have the most problems

  • You're ignorant in what you said in your first statement. Re-read it.

If you dont like the word ignorant, then racist you may prefer

  • but i have to be ignoring something to be ignorant so what is it. what am i being ignorant to?

and racism is thinking one race is superior to another, which is kinda fucking stupid because each and every race has its own individual strengths and weaknesses.

i can admit my race is on top but you seem to be insecure about where your own race stands... why?

so dont avoid the question like a bitch ass what am i ignorant to? i read my comment and i dont think im ignoring, its about her comment.

  • LOL

  • i meant to say my race is NOT on top my mistake

  • sorry i meant to say my race is NOT on top

  • Gwyneth Paltrow is about as African as Charles Darwin... Ory Okolloh was right on the money that Gwyneth Paltrow is not African. I think you missed the point, a shame you had already went on your miniature rant though, could have avoided looking silly.

  • Huh?

  • Wasn't this already posted once? Wow it's been a real third world africacentric sort of month and now it's going into reruns.

  • you are great!

  • Plz replace africans with humans. if you do this what she said is profound.

    We are all human

  • If the continent of Africa wants to help itself, it will reveal to the world that it has been raped by corporations by the hired economic hitmen and their corrupt leaders

Here is how the program works: Economic hit men bribe or threaten a countries leaders to agree to a bogus loan from the Central Bankers that can never be paid back - All of this money is then paid to Shell & Exxon to come in and rape the lands of precious resources

Afterward, the nation has to pay 50% GDP to service the loan

  • Was about to mention the same thing.

  • hater!!!1

  • I'm not a hater. I just think Africa should grow up and start to take care of itself. After decades of development aid Africa is still a craphole. Microfinancing would be better way to improve africans life. They just have to work for it, and not sit under a tree and wait for a banana to drop in their mouths.

  • then ask ur country to leave us alone oh wait aid create over 500 000 jobs for the west and is a billion dollar business. Thats it.

  • @wii2050 hey dickhead, go suck balls! you expect the measly development aid to change a continent? "They just have to work for it" u really are that dumb?

  • @wii2050 Shut up

  • Yeah, and she's kind of cute too.

  • see, you are one of the issue's of this world.

  • She is awesome..

  • Really inspiring.
