These events take months of organisation to prepare and no doubt in the Summer when the place was checked out, all was well! The preceding week to the rally did have more than the average rainfall.
Changes in the YOutube software has now allowed the showing of High definition videos. To see this event in better quality and proportions see my upload titled MICROCARS AT THE NATIONAL IN HD.
It was a development by the Webster Motor Company which deserved greater sales! 238 XUD is a Gogomobil coupe. The pickup on the trailer is a very rare Teilhol Citadine.
I used to have a Fiat 126 which I bought new in 1985, not quite a true micro with its 2 cylinder 650cc engine and four seats. I taught my wife to drive in it, every lesson with a 2 year old toddler and 6 month old baby on board! She actualy took her test in it. On the day I watched from a distance as she emerged from the test centre to the car with an 18 stone examiner. He shoe horned himslf in & she passed first time!
If we start that old argument then we rule out many interesting vehicles such as versions of the Bond Minicar and also the BOND bug! There are so many others that its really good to see and are always welcome at the National! Who could fail to appreciate the Subarus that arrived and the Janus.
I agree there are fascinating cars that just fall outside the definition of the term "microcar". So why not use the description of "K Class" as derived from the japanese tax band, to cover these?
No the ACREA Zest it's a French quadricycle launched at the Paris Motor Show in 06 Google it to find out more I would put a link here but I don't think YT will accept comments with links
Nicely filmed video! Who came up with the idea to hold a rally in such a muddy place?

The 4 wheel Bug is a rarity, is it custom made?
And what is the red car 238 XUD at 3:09 ?
The tiny red truck on the trailer at 4:03 is an odd one I've not seen before as well!

thanks!

There are many! If you search on the Internet for The Register of Unusual Microcars that will give you lots of information!

Cool! BUT a true microcar is 600cc or less AND seats a maximum of 2. This rules out the Trabant which was a 4 seater (Sorry to be so pedantic!!)
