What? I'm sure she's comparing it to the full size notebook just to show how small a netbook is compared to an ordinary notebook. I don't see where you're coming from.
The reason I have said that is because netbooks are a whole new category when it comes to portable computers. When she said "like its competitors" it is suggesting that the Dell Laptop beside is as a netbook. Where as that Dell Insprion or Latitude whatever, is not a netbook; its a laptop.
Well I now see where you're coming from, but I think your criticism to this video isn't valid because most likely you received that comparison differently, and unintentionally, so just don't blame her for it. Personally I think she was just comparing the size of netbook to notebook, which IS a reasonable comparison given that's what netbooks have going for them against notebooks.
this is on sale for 279.99 at best buy. i went o check it out and the plastic covering feels a lil cheap. the Hp mini has the same specs and is only 299.99 at best buy. the hp mini also looks pretty sleak and is easy on the eyes with a 10.1 in lcd screen. over all i would go for the Hp mini for 20 dollars more.
The MSI wind is a pretty great netbook, I've heard of the complaints of quality but i think overall it has gotten great reviews and i love it. It's so light and is great to bring to class. I don't know if its released yet but the slim x-series is supposedly really good in terms of size and performance.
this is sorta a gaming cpu. i got pj64 working FULL SPEED and with n e games and 1 bad thing bout pj 64 and it its only if full screen it works a full 60FPS it is AMAZING!!
Furthermore, a RETRO gaming CPU. If you've been broke like I was for the past few years and have not found a problem playing old-school games, a netbook is highly recommended.
I bought one as soon as it came out. Very nice netbook really like is "sobber" look. I upgraded it to 2gigs of ram and changed the wireless card for a better one, next thing will be replacing the hdd for a Solid state drive and then it will be the ultimate portable device.
they talk about netbook like their a fad i mean they are cheap and portable and if it like the wind it has a decent amout of space it's just a good deal
I think the same thing, teo829. I never heard of the MSI wind back last September. But I probably wasn't following the Netbook craze back then. I just purchased my MSI Wind U120 today.
all quad core and core 2 duo (65w & up) desktop chips should;be marketed as gamer
pc chips
all low power (35w &less) intel mobile and atom chips (10w and less) should be aimed at multimedia compact desktops and net/laptops.
another option would be to discontinue all cpus over 35watts, then gpus could be sold in a separate mini steel case that you hook up to your compact desktop or laptop through a pcie to pcie adapter for power only when u need it
If it was up to me id mass market tweakable socket 479 motherboards for compact power efficient multimedia & internet access desktops and reserve socket 775 boards for power gamers and i7 for wealthy fanatical gamers who can afford the utility hikes
atx dekstop boards burn 40 watts for chipsets and a min of 65 for desktop cpus right there thats 100 watts of uselessly burning radiant energy heating up the box and wearing out components.
every desktop box should be like the wind desktop pc its so much sweeter to own
atx cases and 775 desktop motherboards and cpus should be for gamers only cuz their costly power drain makes you poorer for videogame performance you dont even need and its totally unnecessary for multimedia internet pc'
Don't forget about the crappy webcam and crappy wireless card, lol. I'm replacing the wireless card as soon as I get my Wind. The salesman was scared I wouldn't buy it when I asked him to show me the webcam (he knew how crappy it was). But that wasn't a dealbreaker (don't really care as I have a rather nice one that will fit good ontop of this netbook).
And boy is this a good netbook, I have one myself. Doubled the RAM for 40 bucks to 2GB, and it's overclockable to 2GHz, she should've mentioned that but it's hard not to miss something out because it's so leaded with surprises. Like how insanley bright the srcreen gets if you want it to.

lol car? But honestly, it's the best around if you compare to other netbooks around in the specifications you get for the money you pay, it's the best value you can get and also acer is famous for their high performance systems, though they do fail easily after some 1 or 2 years
Just to save people from falling what I fell for: avoid the wind at all cost. The thing is NOT, I repeat, NOT build very well.
The problem is in the screen and the lid. The lid is easily bent, especially while carrying around. Also when you open an close the lid while the screen is on with a dark blue background, then you can see how there is all kinds of stress on the screen because of the watery patterns that appear.

Yea you're right.. i think if u want the perfect notebook, u can wait forever.. my opinion is to buy what u need.. i need bluetooth, wifi, relatively big screen, vga, etc.. then i take a look at the looks, and i buy what i like.. Build quality is indeed important, and the msi may be the worst-built of the netbooks, but i just don't have any problems (for now).. maybe if i had some, my opinion could be different...

This is not a thing that you may or may not have. Fact is that your msi has a weak screen. The lid easily bends. It does that. Yours is not magically different. The stress makes the screen more susceptible to breaking it. It threatens to reduce the life of this netbook.

It's hard to find the ultimate netbook.
I like MSI's bright screen, but I dislike how fragile it is. The MSI's bilingual keyboard used in most non-us distributions is awful.
I like HP's keyboard, but I dislike its price and how it doesn't have vga out.
I dislike how the other netbooks only have 8.9" screens.
I'm seeing some cool new ones in the pipe line, but how long does one have to wait..
a1mint 3 years ago
Yea you're right.. i think if u want the perfect notebook, u can wait forever.. my opinion is to buy what u need.. i need bluetooth, wifi, relatively big screen, vga, etc.. then i take a look at the looks, and i buy what i like.. Build quality is indeed important, and the msi may be the worst-built of the netbooks, but i just don't have any problems (for now).. maybe if i had some, my opinion could be different...
