  • oi

theres this 99 toyota 3Lv6 theres spark and theres fuel and i got zapped haha

it doesnt start just cranks and it starts then shuts off with starting fluid i am thinking its the crank senor so i am going to replace that tomorrow and see if it works because thats the only thing i can think of because everything works

so i will try this and see what happens its has the coil over plugs 3 coils and 3 wires to the back

thanks and i will come back to this if i get more problems thanks

    the end

    :P

  • Oh and by the way. It only gave me a p0102. Thats the only code it had

  • i have a 2004 corolla toyota s...and so i have the individual coil ignitions and 1 doesnt turn on i think 2 dont turn on i forgot well what shall i do about that problem, be fore i do something else, i already changed the fuel pump and the crankshaft sensor

  • @rubenstarq14 replace the mass air flow sensor, they go bad all the time on those, you have that code anyway

  • Hey scotty. My 02 nissan sentra 1.8 cranks but doesnt start. I know that i have fuel, but how do i check if i have spark. Its coil on plug. Please help me scotty

  • @garciachriz19 get a waekon coil on plug tester like I have, or just remove one coil on plug assembly, get a naked spark plug, put iton the coil, ground the plug against metal on the engine, and see if it sparks when someone cranks the engine.

  • Also another thing i kept cranking it and it seems like my battery is draining it went down from 12 volts to 7 volts but if i leave it it charges up again hopefully my battery isnt toast. But when i was cranking it repeatedly a loud bang or pop noise came from under the hood with little white smoke not much then it went away.....what have i done?

  • @1oneLambo that's the engine backfiring, many things can do that , but often weak ignition system.

  • Hey Scotty so i replaced my crankshaft position sensors in my 00 cadilac SLS . But still no good engine cranks but will not fire up. Did i purchase cheap faulty sensors, the codes for CKP A and B do show up on my scanner. Ive also heard of a relearn procedure....??

  • @1oneLambo they should bolt on and the engine should run. Of course, tons of things can kill a car, and those codes are relatively generic. Can be sensors, worn out cams, wiring problems, or even a bad main computer tripping those codes. often not the sensors themselves, heck, even a worn timing chain can trip those codes.

  • Do u think wiring it to the ignition is still the idea to go with? I am absolutely certain that the relay and pump are turning on

  • Thx scotty unfortunately im a little confused because now both the relay and pump are working, but no gas. Popped of the line to the filter and turned it on no pressure : ( i am stuck thinking about checking pressure regulator? Pump circuitry? I let my car sit now here i am any advice? U r always appreciated sir thx

  • @jbradley920rox no gas means either the pump isn't pumping, or a restriction in the line. Start at the back and pull off a line there, to see if it at least pumps there. Then work forwards.

  • my car had an oil leak by the cap, and oil leaked into the spark plug wires, is my car done?

  • @Yellowzigs depends how much oil. The oil that leaked can be easily cleaned up and new wires put on. BUT, if oil keeps flying out the cap area, the engine may be worn inside, bad piston rings and valves.

  • Zombo. The fuel pump is turned on though the ignition module and uses info from the crank and cam sensors. The crankshaft sensor is what tells the ECM that the motor is rotating. When this sensor goes bad the ECM does not know you are trying to start the motor and will not activate the fuel pump. I am ASE certified and know what I am talking about when it comes to the computer controlled engines. Like Scotty said they are a lot more complicated.

  • Oh and I tried starting fluid, not sure if I put enough in but still not starting. 2002 mazda protege5

  • I'm stumped. I have spark, new fuel pump and filter, but no fuel at the rail. No DTCs. I don't have a psi gauge but I know the pump is turning on.... Any suggestions?

  • @zomboChloride if you have no fuel at the rail, I would assume the pump has no power or the fuel line is clogged. BUT even with that, it would still start with starting fluid. If you can't get it to start that way, and you have no fuel at the rail, you have multiple problems.

see a good subaru mechanic for that one.

  • @scottykilmer Maybe not enough starting fluid? I only sprayed for a few seconds. I've tested all my fuses and they are good.

  • @zomboChloride na, a few seconds is waay enough. Realize if the engine is flooding out, spraying more fuel only makes it worse. It's either that, or the engine is just flat worn out inside, try a compression reading of all cylinders to check that.

  • @scottykilmer I thought I posted but somehow got deleted. Anyway, I was wondering if I should try more starting fluid. I only sprayed for a few seconds.

  • @zomboChloride FUEL RELAY!!!!!!!!1

  • Hey scotty thanks for your videos they are a great asset. I have a 97 subaru legacy gt, and found that i am stuck because i changed my fuel pump and it still does not start. I followed the guidelines from this video but i think i could use a help video on testing the circuitry of the fuel pump? Idk im not sure

  • @jbradley920rox go to the fuel pump fuse, and run power directly through there, if that doesn't run the pump, just rewire the whole stupid thing by running a wire from the ignitio switch directly to the pump.

  • Just curious, how did you set this video up so your car wouldn't start (as the example)? Did you just take the fuel pump fuse out or something?

Might be a fun (but cruel) prank to play on someone...

  • @uzaiyaro these are videos of me fixing customers' actual cars.

  • My 1998 infiniti i30 cranks all day but won't start good alternator and battery any suggestions?

  • @kansasqt11 yes, try everything in this video. See what stopped working, fuel or spark first.

  • what if its a diesel engine?

  • @cooldc129 much more complex to diagnose, they don't have ignition systems, but you can still check fuel pressure

  • hi scotty, me again, my 2001 toyota echo idles really poorly with the air conditioner o, it goes down to 1.1 on the revs count, & as soon as i turn the aircon off it goes up to normal, it also squeeks when its started, ( can do i video for you if you like) just wondering if you have suggestions, i recently had it serviced too (2 weeks)

  • @AllWheelsFilming either the idle up valve for the AC system is going bad, OR the ac compressor is wearing out and causing power drain.

  • @scottykilmer is it expensive to fix?

  • @AllWheelsFilming depends, iac valves are close to 200 bucks on those, compressor jobs cost 6 times that.

  • Is having the injecters or computer a costly fix And i did tell you that i am getting fuel right becouse when i have key in on position i tap a screw driver in that bike looking hole and it does flow out in short bursts?

  • @gods2armys it can be costly, depending on the car model. But testing fuel like that isn't accurate enough, you need a fuel pressure gauge to measure it exactly

  • But I have I have spark and fuel but it doesn't work what's going on I mean I hope it's not some serious when I take the air flow of I'm able to get to start with starter fluid as soon as it's done spraying my car just shuts off with all your years of experience do you have any idea why its doing this?

  • @gods2armys you have spark, but you don't have fuel going into the engine. Get a noid light and check the injectors by unplugging em and cranking th engine to see if they flash on and off. If they don't, you have no injector pulse, see a good mechanic, can be wiring or bad main computer

  • I have a 1998 ford explorer sport addition I replace the fuel pump the fuel filter the crankshaft position sensor I have a brand new battery spark plugs in a coil pack I even checked the inertia switch my car died 6 days ago and I only got to start once for 30 minutes I turn the key off 3 times and then it wouldnt go on again no matter what I do the car just doesn't seem a like it wants to turn on the night it worked I messed with the inertia switch and by some miracle it turn back on again but

  • So i've got a 91 4runner that starts fine in the cold but cranks and cranks in the heat. It's getting spark and fuel and a smell of fuel as well. . . this weekend i'm going to be checking the ECT sensor, cold start injector and cable between battery and starter. if anyone has any suggestions, they would be appreciated!!!

  • @DontGetBoard Hey, I answered this in a personal e mail. PLEASE don't ask twice.

  • @scottykilmer I never got an email or private message. . .

  • @scottykilmer then you must have your mail blocked somehow. Cause I sent it out this morning. I'd check into it if I were you. Generally either bad ect sensors do that, or more often leaking fuel injectors do that. Try my video "how to clean fuel injecotrs on your car " first.

  • I see you are sick of fixing other cars and only showing how to fix Japanese. They hardly break and once it's fixed, good for several years.

  • @syalcin123 I work on all cars, but japanese is what many people drive these days, so that's what they bring in, and that's what I fix a lot of.

  • Hey Scotty I have a 1999 Eddie Bauer Ford Expedition. This morning the truck was low on fuel and I drove it to the gas station on my way to work and shut the engine off and gased up and when I tried to start it it didn't want to. It took me about 20 mins for it to start and now I was going to lunch at work and the truck will not start. I had the fuel pump changed about 6 months ago. My check engine light has been on for months and help.

  • @1222cab when it doesn't start up, do the tests in this video to see what crapped out. But on those, often the stupid anti theft system screws up and causes that. Have a dealer level scan computer hooked up to check that system.

  • @scottykilmer thanks

  • hey have you ever used a product called sea foam?

  • @Gtbomb1 yea it's OK, but I use just plain lacquer thinner now, it works better and costs tons less. i buy it in 5 gallon drums.

  • @Gtbomb1 yes I have why?

  • @1222cab is it good i herd it fucks up the hoses? did you feel any improvement?

  • @scottykilmer hello scotty I have a 2004 jeep grand Cherokee it doesn't wanna start I hear the fuel pump going I have spark still nothing. the car shut down couple of days ago while driving n it started right back ,same thing happened today n now it won't start up I replaced the crankshaft position sensor last yr ,could it be the cam position sensor by the engine block next to oil filter?

  • Swollen = will lol

  • Hey scotty I would love some advice I have a 1994 4.3 vortec vin w s10 blazer the car swollen start after sitting 8 hours but after you run it a bit and cut it off if it sits more than ten minutes it will crank and try to start but it won't start but after that if you let it sit 8 hours it will start right up and its got great fuel pressure plzz help

  • @ChampionBowling sounds like it's flooding out, when it won't start, pull out some spark plugs, if they are all wet, it's flooding out. Then fix that, often leaking fuel injectors or fuel pressure regulator.

  • scotty i have a 95 saturn sl2 and it will crank and sometimes start and sometimes wont. I changed the spark plugs and it would fire right up for a couple days but now 3 days later it wont start again. Someone told me that the valve cover gasket is leaking oil on them but i dont see how the valve cover gasket could leak oil into the cylinder and get on to the plugs? is that possible? from the valve cover gasket anyway?

  • Hey Scotty,

I have a 1990 f150 and it cranks, but won't start. I charged the battery but it still won't work? Should I get my battery checked first then from there start checking addition places like the spark plugs, alternator, and fuel pump? Any help is extremely appreciated.

    Matt

  • @garthalgar77 often dirty fuel injectors on that old thing. Try my video "how to clean fuel injectors on your car'

  • i have a 98 toyota corolla. when i start the car it starts up quickly with very brief cranking. however a couple days ago i turned it on and it cranked for a full 3 seconds before turning on.later that day and the next day, it would start up quickly like normal. today i started it up and it took a good 3 seconds or so again. but later on it would start up like there was no problem. can you tell me whats wrong? should i be worried? is there any preventative maintenance i can do? thanks

  • hey Scooty....I have a 2002 toyota highlander with 3.0 v6 engine...and wont start ..battery is ok...but i can keep the engine runing when I press the gas pedal....what do you think can be?..thanks

  • Hey scooty I have a question, my car turned of on me on route 21 while driving and I heard this wierd noise like a boom underneath my car driver side, I parked my car on the emergecy lane and push my signal lights on and called my triple a to come and tow it. they charged my battery for 5 minutes I went to start my car but it wont start it cranks but doesnt start, triple a said its the timing belt I took of the cover saw the timing belt and all seems to be in places, what do you think causing it

  • Hey

  • hey scotty j got a cuestion i own a 95 f-350 with v8 7.3 diesel engine !!the glow plugs don´t work i replace them with the gpr too change the engine oil. and purge the hpop and also replace the camshaft position sensor check the mechanical lift pump and works send diesel what can i do???? wht´s wrong ???

  • @dieselinside69 modern diesel engines are not do it yourself repairs. You need a dealer level scan computer and years of experience to work on those computer controlled monsters. At least pay a guy to analyze it who really knows his stuff, or you'll be spinning wheels forever guessing.

  • @scottykilmer thanks man ... we found the problem this morning ! bad batteries and cables they crack everywhere you are the best

  • hey scotty man ur da best mechanic I've ever seen, i wish my Auto Tech Teacher is wise and smart like u are. Already subscribed, you should make a facebook account and post ur videos.

  • @1chehade hey, my videos are here, the whole world can watch em here. Millions already have.

  • Scotty

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I just gotta know.

Why would you check the spark plug by pulling it out like you show, and not use a timing light instead?

  • @floydefisher you can, but many guys no longer have timing lights as timing is not adjustable in most modern cars.

  • i dont know where the camshaft sensor is located

it has a new fuel pump and filter also a new fuel pressure regulator what could the problem be

  • scotty i got a 98 gmc yukon it does crank but wont start

  • hey scotty my 03 mustang makes this weir noise when i press on the clutch, could you help me find out what it is?

  • @shadow1up I saw your video, you need a new clutch, the bearing and or pressure plate is wearing out.

  • @scottykilmer futch, i knew the price was too good when i first bought it, well might as well teach my sister how to drive on that car before i change it right? lol

  • We got a 1991 pontiac 6000 that starts and dies. Been having lots of trouble trying to diagnose it.

  • @kingkong8974 often intake manifold leaks on that baby, check out my video "finding vacuum leaks with a cigar>

  • hi scotty your a genious

  • Hi Scotty I have a 1987 nissan pickup with a v6 engine it starts for 3 seconds and then dies hat could the problem be?

  • @ryan18901 have a spark tester hooked up when it is started, and if you lose spark right away, those things eat up distributors, I change out tons of em with new chinese made units.

  • Hi Scotty I have a 1987 Nissan pickup v6 it turns starts for about 3 seconds and then shuts off what could the problem be?

  • hi scotty i have a toyota pickup truck 6 cylinder and in the cold weather is hard to start the engine but after the engine start. i start the pickup with no problems.i was trying the starting fluid, but dont help, after i try cranking for a while the pickup start. can you help me

  • @bighorsenic if starting fluid doesn't help, you have an ignition problem. work on that system.

  • You forgot to mention the fuel pump relay which, alas, also goes bad...:(

  • Mr. Scotty That's Exactly The problem i've in my camry 1999

That's why i've bought the Full System Cleaner of STP + Carb Spray Cleaner of STP

But Could you please explain the Words you've said about Toyota Cars in the Video at 2:16 - 2:25

    1) I've changed the 4 Injectors and Replaced all of them with 4 Orginal New ones.

    2) I've change the Petrol Pump (The same one that you've hold it on in the video) with Orginal one

But still didn't try spray carbrature or even put the STP inside gasoline

  • @midosoft2008 do everything in the video, you can only lose correct spark or correct fuel and it won't run (unless of course if the engine is broken inside, in which case do a compression test of each cylinder to see if the engine is toast.)

  • @scottykilmer @scottykilmer unfortunately when i just going to start to fix it i found an Air Cleaner Pipe is Broken (I've saw many Two Big Cuts i've never saw them before and i've seen an pipe isn't plugin to its place with the Air Intake filter) i did buy an orginal Air cleaner pipe that usually bigger pipe and clean the throttle body and its fine now

    Many thanks Mr. Scotty

  • Mr. Kilmer. Thank you for your response. "Supposedly" my mechanic checked the fuel injectors. I guess that meant that it was firing ok, rather than checking how clean they were?

  • Mr. Kilmer my 88 olds ciera drives fine. However occasionally after driving a while, lets say 25 minutes, and then I shut the car off for 20 minutes or so, and upon restarting it it's a difficult start where you have to press a lot on the gas pedal. Could this be as a result of a quarter of a tank of gas? Unless fuel gauge is not 100% accurate? Other than that car drives nicely. It's fuel injected car. It's had many things replaced and serviced including full tune up, crank sensor, ignition coil

  • @msw600 often weak fuel injectors causing flooding out when hot soaked like that. try my video "how to clean fuel injectors on your car" often fixes it without replacing expensive injectors.

  • Wouldn't the ecu on late car models not provide spark also since it controls the igniter? So if the ecu is bad there wouldn't be any spark.

  • @4x4runr yes, modern cars are extremely complex to work on because the computers control everything and often will shut down many different systems when they find a problem in one. Makes fixing em a Royal Pain.

  • my car doesn't start because it's a GM with a passlock II system installed ..I already got ripped off for $800 to change out the fuel pump which isn't the problem.. GM won't recall the cars for the defective design

  • @xadam2dudex there is a way to bypass it look on youtube its also easy

  • Who drives the red truck? I see it in a lot of your videos?

  • @mds2465 It's a loaner truck I get for weeks here and there.

  • all of your videos are very informational and helpful thank you.

  • I have a 2001 2500hd with no spark at coil packs. Have replaced the brain, cam and crank sensors and still nothing.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • @wcpchief realize those computers must be flashed to work on a car when replaced. But if it has been, then the wiring must have shorts, start tracing all the ignition wiring from the computer to the coils themselves. But realize coil packs and ignitiuon control modules do go bad a lot on those

  • good stuff i learnd alot. but u forgot to mention that the spark from the spark plug is extreamly high voltage. could lead to major injuries.

    laterzz..

  • @princejaa Only if you're a wimp,. i've been shocked tons of times and it just woke me up a bit. Only sick people would get harmed, such as heart problems.

  • @scottykilmer oh i see. i was always told that the spark voltage is very high. i guess it not that high huh. oh well. never mind. thanks for the input.

  • @princejaa Yes, it is VERY high voltage, but VERY low amperage, so it's not deadly , just shocking.

  • @scottykilmer got it! thanks :)

  • hello,

I have a "91" 4 cycle 2.4RE Toyota pick-up truck, it will not start up. I check the fuel pump it is getting gas, but the primary coil is not receiveing fire. Do you have any suggest on what I am not doing.

  • @FATBOYROY4370 if the ignition switch is working, then replace the ignitor assembly

  • Oh and no I checked spark,no spark!

  • Hello I have an 1989 thunderbird sc, has no distributor I've been trying to start this car for months it's cranking but won't turn over, fuel pump is good, replaced crank sensor, control module have no Idea in lost. Before it turned off ran good check engine light just came on then turned off when I was driving. And I checked fuses of course please help.

  • @EddieEpic well, do all these tests first to see what isn't working. Either you have no spark, or no fuel running into the fuel injectors into the head. OR, the engine is just wornout. so do a compression test of all cylinders first, and if any are low, the engine is toast and needs rebuilding.

  • what a character. subscribed.

Please help me with my 88 park avenue. I have hard time to get it start in the

morning, especially when it's cold. It takes a couple of cycles to get it running,

once it runs, it's great. I need to turn the car on (not ignation/crank) for a few

seconds, then turn off for a few seconds, repeat once, car starts right up. It's like

what it exhibits in this video youtube. c om/ w at ch?v=n CAZh WO 8j20(remove

    spaces)

thank you for your help. sir

  • @tonycl568 Often old age, worn fuel pump or worn injectors. Try my video "how to clean fuel injectors on your car first" and pray that does it.

  • very helpful videos.thanks have a vs commodore with a shot crank angle sensor.

  • two days ago after getting gas my car refused to start! my dad sprayed some starting fluid and it started up but stalled after a few seconds like in the video. could it be bad gas or something because my car was working perfectly fine until I got gas! i still can't get my car to start. what should i do? can a fuel pump just randomly stop working? (sorry if i sound dumb) anyone can answer please!! i have no transportation, i'm desperate.

  • if u dont have a spark before crank sensor i will check ignition coil

  • theres a 95 ford probe gt id like to buy. its geting spark. a shop said its geting fuel. when i try to start it cranks but wont start it also sounds like its lossing comprestion, would that cause the proble please respond quickly

  • @choking0smurf take my advice, NEVER buy a car that doesn't run unless it's fifty bucks. too many things can cause non starting. Of course do a compression test of the engine, and it that's low, certainly don't buy it.

  • Hi, Scotty. I have a 1996 Plymouth Neon SOHC. I had the code come up for the camshaft sensor and the crankshaft sensor. I replaced the crank sensor last summer, but still had problems (the car would not hardly move when it was cold outside, and would randomly lose power and only go about 10mph when I had the gas pedal to the floor.) I replaced the cam sensor and the next day the car ran like new for about 50 miles and then stalled at a red light and hasn't started again since. I didn't hear ...

  • @heatherreed11 ... any loud noise (like with a timing belt). It's getting fuel, but no spark. Someone said I should change the coil pack, is that what you would also try? Also, since it's not starting, would diagnostic be able to show what was causing the problem?

  • @heatherreed11 yes a good dealer level diagnostic computer can show a lot of problems on a non starting car.

  • @heatherreed11 if the code still pops up, the timing belt has stretched and needs replacing, see that all the timne.

  • @scottykilmer I had someone check the timing belt and they said it looked fine (meaning no worn teeth and not frayed). Would the belt show any signs of being stretched, or do I pretty much have to take it off and replace it to find out if that's what's causing the car to not start?

  • my 93 325i wont start when i turn to key to try to start it i hear something flickering under the hood when i do help!

  • my diesel engine wont start no matter what temperture it is but if i turn the glow plugs on it will start right up! what could this be?

  • @kyfordfan fix the glow plug system, it shoud do it by itself.

  • i have an 03 galant with the coil on plugs how do i check to see fi they are bad? also how do i check to see if the csp sensor is bad?

  • @BigDJuggalo420 pull them out one at a time and crank the engine over to see if they will create spark or now by grounding a spark plug put into the assembly on any metal engine part. No spark, and it's not working.the sensors really require a dealer level scan computer to analyze though

  • scotty i have a 1997 grand prix new battery, spark plugs, gaskets and starter and it still wint start

  • @ballinboy271 do all these tests, has to be one of em.

  • Scotty I have a 08 stratus that starts but dnt run.I checked for fuel & fire.getting fuel but no fire.I put it on a scanner, but only showed code po123 TPS. Before it would die randomly at stop lights. Could it be the cam or crank sensor?also it has a distribator, and since I cant seem to find the cam sensor would it be the distribator?if so,how do you replace it without removing the distrib?

  • @brandonb175 If it has a distributor, you would replace the entire unit in such a case. But most 08s do not have them.

  • @scottykilmer I have a 1990 Toyota Celica Coupe and the car cranks but does not start,I sent it to the mechanics and since the battery went dead(my fault) they cant check the computer because theres no code??! anywho They told me it was a sensor? what censor could it be and how much would it be to fix it,Thanks and please respond as i am worried it might cost heaps.

  • scotty, i have a 2004 grand prix gt that will turn on and run most times just fine but other times it cranks but dosent start unless i press on the gas pedal and give it gas if i do that it turns on and stays on and runs fine what do you think my problem is?

  • @TheCarlos4398 often weak fuel injectors, try my video "how to clean fuel injectors on your car'

  • @TheCarlos4398 does it lug or lose power while driving at times?.

I had a Grand AM and that was the Throttle position Sensor.

Just throwin an idea your way.

  • @halflife103 no it hasnt done yet

  • Scotty I have a 2002 Ford Windstar that does not have any spark. I changed the coil pack and the crank shaft position sensor. Still no spark.

  • @FRANKJANISCH Could be the ignition control module gone bad, have it tested.

  • I don't know a lot about engines, so tell me if I'm wrong or not. Is it possible that if moisture is built up in the fuel line, then that would also prevent an engine from turning over? Receptive to any answers.

  • @jpr422 yes, water does not burn like gasoline

  • Hi Scott,

I have a 2001 neon and it cranks but will not start. it die on me well I was driving down te freeway. my husband charage teh battery but it still will not start. when we try to restart there was a pop in the engine. help please

  • @slgoularte1 check the timing belt first, it may have broken. If not, check the fuel pressure, the pump may be bad.

  • I just want to know one thing....What kind of beer do you like?

  • @MrA1Goku The best beer I ever had was draft Mirror Pond Ale in Seattle. But I've had the bottled stuff and it wasn't great.

  • hi scotty i have a 95 saturn that cranks but wont start. It will eventually start after trying for a few minutes and when it does it idles really rough for a few seconds and shoots a bunch of blue smoke out of the tailpipe. it just all of the sudden started doing this. it started fine before then one day i went to start it and its been like this ever since. any suggestions?

  • @kyle91chevy1 blue smoke is burning oil, meaning the engine is starting to wear out, no surprise on that engine. But too much fuel will make it worse, so it may be flooding out. Try changing the spark plugs and doing my "how to clean fuel injectors on your car" video advice, and pray thathelps.

  • scotty- I have a 1999 Nissan maxima that cranks but won't start. If i press on the gas it back fires in the exhaust. I replaced the cam position sensor but did not work. Any suggestions?

  • hey scotty, this one from Ireland-engine turns over but wont start.cleaned spark plugs but neither have the skill nor the money to investigate the fuel pump..which im not sure is the problem as it will start with a push and run fine..when turned off though, wont restart.

many thanks if you get to this one,

    cheers.

  • @hotstixx ye gads, you're guessing all the time, really should analyze the stuff with gauges and tools. About a billion things can make a car not start, but since it push starts, either the starter motor is weak , the battery is weak, or the wiring has gone bad. The fuel pump works cause pushing would not start a bad fuel pump car.

  • @scottykilmer sincerest thanks..at least that narrows it down for the truest amateur here.

have it rigged to a battery charger and it turns over stronger but doesnt catch and start..so prolly not the battery.its a 1994 audi 20e so your wiring sounds right and givin the fact that the roof sometimes opens without me touching anything..and closes of its own accord..well i dont really know.maybe its a sensor..fuel filter ? thanks again.

  • 3:00 lol

  • hey scotty i wish i had your knowledge. ive got a 4 cylinder eclipse with the third and fourth cylinder compression really low and it doesnt start i think its the valves are bent should i engine swap or replace valves head gasket ring etc. and is there any minor things i should check before taking action and how much would you think a fi would cost

  • @jessetorres16 swap the engine, fixing those crappy mits engines is just band aid, they only last so long. Call a bunch of junk yards for pricing on used engines.

  • HEY SCOTTY WHAT IF YOUR CAR CHOOSES NOT START ONLY WHEN IT RAINS??

  • @ahill007ny then you have electrical problems that water is shorting out, like bad wiring connectors or bad sensors or even bad computer circuits.

  • hey scotty, your vids are great! i had a prob in my 98 durango i was hopin you could give me some advice on. it wont start but cranks and never turns over. it has been an intermitent problem with no engine codes this time. i used the starting fluid like your vid says and didnt cut on so i checked the spark and its firing out of the wires on every cylinder, also spark plugs look fine and have under 5000 miles on them. what else should I be checking thanks..

  • @akatheinfamous check the engine compression first, a worn out engine will never start when cold. If the comp is good, check the fuel injections system to see if it's flooding the engine ouit from leaking injectors or other problems.

  • Your vids are awesome, Scotty.

  • it's always a good idea to verify that power is getting to the pump as well, sure you can check fuses and relays, but without checking at the pump you are rolling the dice could have an issue in the harness between the fuse block and the pump... i know from experience
