  • Beautiful. And the ultimate irony, of course, is that that they haven't done much better in more than 50 years as the Minnesota Twins.

  • Too bad the Senators' only AL pennants came during the early part of the 20th Century, 1924, 1925 and 1933. They only had one World Championship team, when they won the World Series in 1924. Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson retired from baseball in 1927. He was born in Brea (Orange County), California and went to Fullerton High School, near where I lived in Anaheim. His record of most strikeouts ever held for 60 years or so till Nolan Ryan broke the record.

  • oNE OF YOU TUBE'S BEST VIDEOS FOR A LONG TIME NOW!

  • the cards are cool

  • This is wonderful.I hadn't known that Tom Brown had a card issued for him.His interception saved the Packers in the 1966 Championship Game.

  • They should add Lastings Milledge to this montage. Oh, but Washington dumped him...

  • "Nice montage!"

  • what a totally awesome baseball song, mixed in with life

  • Great job. Thanks.

  • why cant we see the whole song from the movie?

  • I remember the Mets singing this on the Ed Sullivan show after they won the World Series in 1969.

  • Sorry. Didn't realize the message took the first time. Kudos for Ray Walston, Gwen Verdon, Bob Fosse, Jean Stapleton and Tab Hunter.

  • Nicely done. I've got a few of the same old baseball cards. When I was a kid in Los Angeles, Channel 9 had the Million Dollar Movie and ran the same film every day for a week. Baseball crazy that I was at the time, I know these songs. Thank you.

  • im singing this song in my scool concert

  • I guess you would have to have heart to be a Senators Fan back then kind of like the Nationals Today.

  • Love the movie..... Ray Walston as the Devil was fantastic

  • Beat those damn Yankees today Twins!

  • Remember what they used to say about Washington:

    First in War

    First in Peace

and Last in the American League

  • great inspirational tune---wonderful example of american musical theater at its best

  • this is the stuff i grew up with!!! Thanks!!!!

  • I live and die by the Tigers, but I always felt sorry for Senators fans, especially after the team moved to Minnesota and four years later won the pennant...

  • I live and die by all the Detroit teams. With the Lions I mostly die.

  • Thank you! This was very well done.

  • Only musical i have ever liked. It was a great movie

  • This song lift your soul in these hard times in our country

    America I Love you

  • glad you put in Frank Howard. Have a pennant like that one, No 67 -69 Topps huh?

  • My friend Emma sung this for the new years talent show and she one first place!!!

  • I love the song; gets me right here.

  • This the original or 94 revival?

  • The motion picture.

  • At 2:52, 3:13, and 3:46 I bought at a card show on Saturday. Also, I have autographs of Chuck Stobbs (RIP), Hal Naragon, and Tex Clevenger.

  • Me, too. I still remember the horror and disappointment of the Senators decamping for Minnesota in 1960. And then, after a 34-year interval, the then-'mayor' of Washington wouldn't allow the new team to be called the Senators because WashDC isn't a state and doesn't have a senator. I say, the hell with baseball.

  • "after a 34-year interval, the then-'mayor' of Washington wouldn't allow the new team to be called the Senators because WashDC isn't a state and doesn't have a senator. I say, the hell with baseball"

The hell with baseball because their name is the Nationals? Thats what they were officially known as until 1957.

  • I was surprised to find that out when I put this together. You'll see that on a few of the baseball cards.

  • no, you are wrong. the reason the team didn't have the senators name is because the texas rangers (formerly the second edition of the washington senators) still have the name owned and trademarked.

  • I never knew that. Makes you wonder why they would own the name and trademark and not use either.

  • @senator9870 love the Senators but remember the sportswriters using the term Nats often in the paper...I still have that red pennant...

  • Yeah, DC may have the "current" major leaguers, who call themselves the Nats, but, to me, anyway, the true Nats were, and still are, the Senators - both versions.

Let's go for the pennant, Senators!

  • I'm an Astros fan, but this is a great posting. Love those old baseball cards from the '50s and '60s too.

  • Thanks for the posting! Love those 1959 baseball cards. Must have bought a thousand cards that summer hoping to get Harmon Killebrew and never did! Ramos, Pascual, Killebrew, Allison, Lemon and the rest. Loved those guys!

  • What a great Christmas present! I grew up watching the expansion Senators and Tom Brown was a graduate of my high school. I even have a Senators tattoo on my chest. I have pictures taken with two of these guys,Russ Kemmerer and Julio Becquer. Thanks for the memories!

  • Love it, but wish Joe Judge was one here.

  • Yeah...this brings back memories for me. Thanks

  • A tip of the cap from a Brewers fan--nice work! (But where's Don Lock and his eyebrows? <;-) )

As a Green Bay Packers fan, it was fun to see Tom Brown, who had tough sledding for the '63 Senators but who went on to play in the NFL and make the game-ending interception that sent the Pack to the 1st Super Bowl.

  • Washington in the National League! All the years of futility in the junior circuit, and now a member of the senior one! Will wonders never cease?????

  • Thanks for posting this video. As a Nationals fan, I can really appreciate it.

  • You're quite welcome.
