I think the new show may have been better if it had focused on a new, young mayor trying to deal with Mayberry and its citizens. Of course, they would have to get rid of Howard or move him to another job but still, it would open up a lot of story possibilities.

Opte's baby sitter If you're very observant they're several episodes that Andy can't even kiss Ellie in the lips instead he kissed her in the foehead..Andy and Helen act very natural

They called it Mayberry RFD because Sam lives in the Rural Free Delivery of Mayberry. With Andy leaving they couldn't keep it as Andy Griffith Show. Both are awesome shows...I look forward to watching more. Thanks.

Opie sure has grown by the time this show started and do to being older and do to his age he was begining to sound like Ritchie Cunninham on Happy Days this show ended in 1971 and he was about half as tall as he would be when Happy Days started in 1974.

I haven't seen RFD enough to be able to quote dialogue, but I remember getting a good feeling from watching it in afternoon reruns. Much better written -- I think -- than the color episodes of TAGS ... One thing...they never stated what became of Andy. I mean, it was obvious that he wasn't living in Mayberry anymore. I never saw this episode but I heard about it. I assumed that Andy was going to announce that he and Helen would move away or something.

Thelma Lou was written out in the original Andy Griffith show. She returns in one episode for a reunion. Barney thinks he may want to rekindle their relationship but Thelma Lou got married 6 weeks before.

Andy had the whole town of Mayberry and multiple chances to do better: Ellie, Peggy, Mary, I Dream of Jeanie, Charlene Darling. And I think he could have gotten Thelma Lou. So sad that he ended up with Helen P. Crump. Sad day for the good sheriff. Sad day.
