  • the point of home defense isn't to "scare" the burglar. it's to stop the burglar. no matter what it takes, his life is less valuable than the life of my wife and kids. The only sound that should matter, is the sound of that round leaving your barrel. Protecting the lives of the ones you love.

  • I have a Mossberg 500 persuader that I bought many years ago and I have to say I've shot it in tactical drills and at times I've been pretty hard on it getting the barrel hot enough to cook on. It has never failed to function, it has never broken and I would carry it to Armageddon without hesitation. I hope you have had as good an experience with this weapon as I have.

  • @gsrgopedrider274 I just got the same gun for 500 dollars!!! Killin me! Id jump on it for 279 its a great gun

  • Ya this is gonna be my first home defense weapon...can't wait to take her to the range :)

  • this is on sale for $279 brand new in my area, good deal?

  • @GSRGOPEDRIDER247 WONDERFUL deal.

  • all of the comments are funny...... i do think that the sounding of the action will frighten a criminal BUT you would be a fool to rely on just the sound to stop the threat. keep that sucker ready!

  • Not be a smartass, but stop spreading the myth that peole that hear the rack of a shotgun get scared...all it does is give you away and gives them a chance to shoot first. Most random robber would not know the sound.

  • @brandonjpj1 So you're saying that the sound of someone racking a shotgun wouldn't scare you if you just broke into a dark home? The sound of putting one in the chamber, pretty much assuring that your life is about to be over if you don't get the hell out of the house, doesn't scare you? You must have some balls on you, because I'd nearly shit myself if I was a burglar and I heard that sound.

  • @SuperBaseballman12 it would not scare me, i would just rack my shotgun at the home owner

  • @ogle94 and at that moment is when you, sir, have my slug shot, through your chest.

  • @brandonjpj1 I've never held a shotgun in my life and even I would recognize that sound. People, especially criminals, aren't as ignorant as you are making them out to be.

  • @brandonjpj1 i see your point and i agree but most people and robbers are not as smart as you

  • Cool man , I was thinking of getting this shotgun too.

  • Chec out budsguns...com. this same 500 for same price. Just a fyi for anyone looking for one.

  • great shotgun. I have the persuader with a different stock (standard not tactical), heat shield as well, and a ghost ring sight. Shoots true and is comfortable, not too heavy. Great in regards to price as well; my only complaint is the kick. For home protection you can't get a better pump action for the price, but for recreation I don't recommend it. After 20 shots your shoulder is practically numb. I have shot over a dozen other shotguns but none have the kick that this one does.

  • Excellent gun! Cheap, Reliable, Powerful!! There have been a lot of stray pit bulls running around lately and 3 attacks in my local area. One attack resulted in a man losing his hand. This gun will solve that problem!!!

  • I was thinking of getting the Rolling Thunder but this one looks pretty nice, too

  • by the way TACTICAL and the PERSUADER are two different guns

  • Comment removed

  • how much should I pay for a used one in good condition? Also, does this gun take a choke or you have to buy a different barrel? Thank You!

  • i have one an wanna fire it but outside ... indoor range and shotgun .... not so much lol ... but yeah i have that identical shotty

  • Sweet shotgun man! Plan on gettin myself one hey can u sugest ammo

  • Suggestions you ask? Picatinny rail, definitely. Blackhawk spec-ops telescoping stock and pistol grip, defintely. TruGlo illuminated sight, with different reticles and colors, definitely. All of these mods are cheap, strong and durable, and easy to find and swap onto the persuader, (gunsmith 101 style.) Too bad you didn't get the 7+1 magazine tube, I find it kick as to do an eight round street sweeper move......>:)

    grey0417@yahoo.com

  • Lose the persuader fore end, pick up a blackhawk, spec-ops fore end, cheap, reliable, and easy to install with a standard mossberg fore end tool, (about 15-20 bucks.) Most telescoping stocks use 5 position points.

    MOSSBERG RULES !!!

    grey0417@yahoo.com

  • you remind me of Timothy Olyphant.

  • Pro, great at medium distance.

Con, you'll still have to aim it

Pro, you can fend off most attackers

    Con, limited ammo capacity

Pro, will stop a person in one shot

Con, you'll be reloading more often

    There you go

  • can you take the pistol grip off to put an after market one on?

  • If somebody comes in your house, they are probably armed as well. The sound of a slide racking wont scare them off it they had the nerve to break in, in the first place. Just saying, you'll have to shoot them too. Not just rack the slide.

  • @crazzykilla100 You are incorrect. A vast majority of criminals DO NOT want trouble. In particular a person breaking into your home as they probably think no one is there. They want your goods, they want to be in and out clean. Gunfire makes noise and they dont want the attention drawn, also they dont want a murder pinned on them. The sound of a shotgun racking tells them they are up against a VERY powerful weapon that can blow holes in walls and doors. Criminals are cowards 95% of the time.

  • @moparmaniac21 i like the way you put that

  • @hopecamel Thank you sir

  • @crazzykilla100 ok killa you break into my house, and you hear me rakk a round.....are you telling me that your gonna still try to rob me??

  • Plan on getting the same one soon. What have you found out about it. I like your hoodie btw!

  • got the same gun...fantastic ;) c

  • that shotgun is badass! they even used it in the walking dead series.head splitter.

  • Do you guys think its bad to keep my shells in the carry tube? I've had them in there for a few weeks, im afraid the springs will go bad after a while??

  • @MattsMisc i wouldn't do it, but im not sure. i keep my shells in the side saddle.

  • This shotgun is available at my local Big 5 Sporting Goods store and plan on buying one in the next few weeks.

  • I love the Mossberg 500 series of shotguns. 1 thing to consider is the position of the safety. With a tactical pistol grip, It is difficult to reach with it being on the top while your thumb is wrapped around the grip. I prefer to keep the traditional stock (has a speed feed option) so that your thumb rides over and has easier access to the safety. The Remington 870 with the safety down by the trigger guard is better suited for the pistol grip style option. All in all, nice blaster!

  • @shaynadaniel

good point. getting to the slide release can be hard with a pistol grip on the 500 as well. i switched mine to a hogue stock and i like the functionality a lot more now

  • I just recently purchased this exact pump shotgun. I purchased this weapon for about $280 with pistol grip included. Its also is a 5+1

  • where do you live! i swear i cant get that price for anything unless i get the most basic shotgun. if i wanted the same shotgun u have i would have to pay 500+, maybe 600 after tax and backround check. just got a quote for a rger sr9 for 575, i know a vid where a guy got it for 300. i hate living in northern va. its bad enough that the guns cost so much but all gun dealers here are dicks and assholes never had one good customer experince here.

  • QUESTION: What is the difference between the 500 Tactical and the Persuader Tactical? any help would be greately appreciated thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • love my persuader...came with 181/2IN barrel..put a heat shield on it and shotshell holder n the stock...just recently put a 28IN barrel on it and use it for squirrel hunting..great shotgun...i also like remingtons 870 magnum which i regret selling but oh well

  • this gun shoots really nice. i got mine less than a week ago and ive already put about 300 rounds through it. i did not get the rubber padding on mine though. mine had a recessed diamond pattern on the stock that kills the shoulder. i payed 500 and got a mil-spec sling 95 rounds (75 bird and 20 00buck) and a kickass i heart guns shirt. all in all it was a great purchase, i love my mossberg.

  • Where can i get one of thease?

  • 350?! i got mine for 475 and thought it was a good deal :(

  • @MrDankness009 JOKES ON YOU!

  • @Fukinmatty yes indeed it is, i am still pleased with my purchase though.

  • Very nice! FYI for those watching, you can pick up the Mossberg 500 at Wally world for $187. You can then add the ATI pistol grip & expandable stock along w/the shell holder for approximately an additional $60-$100. Just a heads up

  • just got one today! your review helped

  • Oh sweet. My birthdays coming up so how about you give me that shotgun of yours as a gift.lol :)

  • Its not the arrow, its the Indian. Do whatever you want to the thing but if you cant shoot it, you might as well sit on it and twirl. You never said how it was at the range or in your backyard. Does it shoot well?

  • if it is home defense, i wouldnt put an aim point on it, spend the money on a good flash light mount, that way you illuminate what your shooting... i have the remington 870 home defender with the blackhawk (has the springs in the pistol grip) to help with recoil. and keep milspec double ought buck loaded, the spread covers my hallway very well.

  • I just bought mine today and for whatever reason, I can only fit 2 in my mag tube...IDK what the problem is.

  • @AllAmericanGuy01 im not familiar with the mossberg but if its like my h and r theres a plastic stick in the tubing past the spring. i turned my 2+1 shotgun into a 5+1

  • @lpfan540 Yeah that's what it was. I had to take of the tube and slide the stick out. 5+1 strong now

  • i pumped my shotgun in my living room once and my corgi flipped out.

  • @woahcoolwaffles121 you know that makes me beleive in re incarnation sometimes, maybe it used to be a person before. i aimed my gun at my dog unloaded of course and it got scared, how does it know what the gun can do???

  • @oscarlovespatty i find that wierd as well...creepy...

  • @oscarlovespatty pointing a gun at your dog? are you fucking stupid? even if it's unloaded, treat it like it's loaded. that's basic gun safety. plus, that's just fucking creepy. it scares me that people like you own guns.

  • my got one of those and he loves it i got a mossberg too but its got a reg stock and 7+1 mag wouldnt trade it for any thing but i am going to get a new stock soon

  • @thedoubledeus meant to say my uncle

  • looks looks looks??? who gives a shit about looks when its dark as shit and your gun is black??? aimpoint on a shotgun for home defense??? ahahahahahhaha maybe but a tri pod, laser, light, silencer on too then ;-) oh oh and a bayonet

  • As far as I was aware, the Persuader was the military-style 590. Just got a Persuader yesterday with the 20" barrel and 8 round magazine and it is without a doubt labeled as a 590. Not much difference between the two but the 590 is specifically the military clone. Mine came with the regular stock and no heat shield because it won't fit the heavier barrel. The only mod I intend to make is different front and rear sights because mine only has the bead. IMO the pistol grip ruins the ergonomics.

  • that hoodie is almost as badass as the gun.

  • @changopango I thought I was the only one who noticed

  • agreed

  • Man she is beautiful........... i was looking at the same one in the store the other day

  • just got mine ordered today! been looking forever and it comes with everything i was going to put on it any way.. shoot center mass, shoot to stop, if they die in the process thats their fault

  • yea i love shot gun i have to get a 500 mossberg

  • im gettin a mossberg 500 tactical improved 2 turkey hunt realtree painted $475 to much??

  • Love this weapon. But do they make it in a 20GA? I want one for HD that the old lady can shoot as well. She's only 5' tall.

  • just got mine a week ago and love it just shot it to day.

  • @ hammer555551 dude really??? lemme say for jordan "Fuck off!" its vids like this that steered me towards the MB500. Hating prick....

  • just got mine today.... I got the most basic I could for 320 bucks but spent an extra 100+ bucks on a really nice dress up kit from ultimate arms..... I'll have the "Before and After" vid up this next week.

  • My next purchase. Love the rifle look with the shotgun power!

  • You resemble Billybob Thortan

  • tactical persuador..yea...persuade people not to fuck with yea

  • if the mossberg pump sucks so bad why did i carry one in the military?

  • @ravencroweric Because Mossberg was one of the few that submitted for testing, because they needed the sales. The military criteria was that it had to be able to fire 3000 rounds, and several other conditions, composition stock, water resistant finish, magaizine capacity, etc. I saw officers jamming pump guns under stress training, that's why I say they are no good. A Beretta model 1201 FP, semi-auto. Now there's a M/P, defense shotgun!!

  • Who are you? How old are you? What degrees do you have? What certified, recognized training/experience do you have to post a video on shotgun use? Were you a Gunnery Sergeant for the U.S. Marine Corps? Are you an Armorer for the New Jersey State Police? Are you an N.R.A. Certified Shotgun Instructor? If not, then all you guys posting these videos should STFU!! Pumps suck for police/defense work. They jam under stress, and they are cheap pieces of shit.

  • @hammer555551 maybe cause you just suck.

  • @htmlrulezd00d11 You do suck, asshole!! No maybe about it!

  • @hammer555551 i'm saying you suck because you manage to take a proven system that has worked for hundreds of years and make it fail. you manage to make it jam, and you claim it's an ineffective device. you realize how many times a pump has saved the day? now i grew up on shotguns, and i know them pretty damn well. if you decided to come into my house all cracked out, your day would be fucked.

  • @htmlrulezd00d11 Hey Hornoz, I've seen them jam under stress-training several times. Once they jam a round, you're dead, it takes a long time to get the jammed shell out. Are you military or police? If not, I suggest you shut your clap-trap. Oh, by the way, why would I come to your trailer, cracked out? To see your redwood deck, and polyester curtains????? HA!HA!HAHA!

  • @hammer555551 once again, that's a training issue. that's the operator, not the gun. it's called taking time and getting behind the trigger to know your system. someone who invests the proper time with such a gun gets their just rewards. they are highly effective in their roll, and the guns are extremely reliable. not to mention the most versatile in my opinion. start using facts to support your arguments, not insults. it makes you look like a tool.

  • @hammer555551 finally someone who knows what he is talking about! thank you for saying that.

  • Where can you get it that cheap I can see one for under 450

  • hey what kinda stock is that do you like it better then the factory one?

Im using a 590 for home defense with slugs

  • Hahahaha 'persuader'.

  • Where can I get one?!=p that's definitely a decent price.

  • whats the dif between persuader and cruiser

  • nice video i just bought this same gun for around that price. 9 days left till i can pick it up! Lots of people are saying heat shields are a waste... i admit they are sexy but my question is how tight is it fastened? I hear lot of people complaining about heat shield sliding. You need to go shoot this gun and post some vids

  • Can slugs be used in this gun?

  • i pick mine up on wednesday....im really excited to get some range time...ive shot the standard 500 but i had to get the tactical...its got all the great bells and whistles

  • whats the length of the barrol?

  • ill stick with my semiauto, pumps suck

  • Just bought mine today at the local sports store! Out the door it set me back $460. These next ten days are gonna be the longest ever. Anyone trying to break into my shit is gonna have a real fucking bad day.

  • I Love this Gun I have the same one without the stock shoots wonderfully soft kick for a shotgun easy to shoot one handed even holding the pistol grip for home defense. I would suggest using a mix of wide spreading shot and something a little more solid you want your fist shot to either warn or wound and slow and then your second shot to take them down if needed.

  • @JohnE2x NOPE...Shoot to kill. I've read to many stories of bad guys surviving and suing the shit out of the defender. Even my C&C instructor says the same. If you are gonna use a gun, use it for one reason and one reason only. No brandishing, no warning, Lights out!

  • @keithallenlaw cant argue with that sounds like a good policy

  • @keithallenlaw

yeah I agree with you 100% I was talking strictly tactical first to slow then second to kill, unless your a perfect shot under pressure then go slugs all the way

  • @keithallenlaw I a NRA supporter, gun owner and activist I actually have to disagree with you here. While I see your point, I think these suing incidents are very "rare" incidents much like the Mcdonalds hot coffee lady whom made 1 million off that B.S.. If an intruder is obviously immobilized and you go up and shot him again that is revenge and should be treated as low degree murder. In the sane state of MT where I live if they survive I say let them sue me; good luck.

  • @longhairsRcool "I a NRA supporter, gun owner and activist I actually have to disagree with you here. While I see your point, I think these suing incidents are very "rare""

For me, the reason to shoot to kill, if you ever have to make the choice to use lethal force, is because the situation was such that your adversary has proven him/herself as a threat to your life and those whom you are responsible for.

If you shoot to wound, my concern would be if your adversary tries to shoot back at you.

  • @Watcher3223 There would also be times where they couldn't shoot back but aren't dead. It depends a lot on the situation legally. People have the right to protect themselves but, I think a lot of people are too worried about robbers/murderers. Everyone thinks guns are for target practicing, hunting, or defending themselves from evil boogeymen. This comes from the media's incessant scare tactics. Our founding fathers wanted armed citizens but robbers was only a very small reason why,

  • @longhairsRcool "There would also be times where they couldn't shoot back but aren't dead. It depends a lot on the situation legally."

That, too. And, you're correct; it depends on the situation.

The point of shooting to kill is to make sure you stop the threat.

  • @longhairsRcool

But, if your shot wounds your attacker and he/she is still alive but in no condition to fight back, then that means the threat no longer exists so further shooting would be totally unnecessary. There would be other ways to keep the adversary under control until help arrives in that circumstance.

Definitely, the use of force must be judicious.

  • @Watcher3223 Yes exactly friend :). That's all I was saying lol. Couldn't have said it better myself. Use of force must be judicious; this is not to say people don't have the right to use deadly force to protect themselves etc. but as you said you must act judiciously.

    Peace

  • @longhairsRcool

it was to protect from corrupt government

  • @lostd00d hey do you think that our government is getting to that point because i think that time might be comming soon, and we, (as american citizens) may need to excercise our rite to fight a corrupt, greedy, misslead or possably even oppressive government. but this is just what i think, so if you hav an opinion on the subject please reply, and tell me what your thinking.

  • @HENDRIX19941 O hell yea dude our Gov. is becoming very tyranical. I can point out so many documentaries for u to watch n hey don't do what most do n just watch n decide wheather to believe it or not. I took notes as i watched n did my own research. Zeitgeist:addendum (learn our menetary system very important. once u watch u will understand this debt cieling crap), Obama deception, police state 4, the end of america (shows how our gov. r taking the same steps germany did b4 they became Nazi's

  • @lostd00d wow, ok i will watch them all, thanks!

but i don't think i will take notes.

  • @lostd00d Ding ding ding ding. Bingo! We have a winner lol. Yes, that was their primary reason for wanting armed citizens.

  • @longhairsRcool

Basically, I'm of the opinion that, if the situation dictates you can stop your opponent by warning or wounding, then the situation doesn't call for the use of lethal force (as in firing a shot; you can "warn" with your weapon insofar as showing that you have it and will use it if necessary to control an active threat, but no shots unless you must kill).

If you choose to shoot, it's because your failure to do so *will* result in crippling injury or death to yourself or others.

  • @longhairsRcool

In the case of stopping an active threat, if your adversary isn't proving him/herself as a threat any longer, and it doesn't matter if your adversary is alive or not, then you don't shoot anymore. That I agree with.

  • @keithallenlaw PART 2. I seriously doubt any judge here would take the intruder seriously. Suing is only a civil matter anyway which means they can only try to pump money out of you. Murder however is criminal and you can go to prison to see Bubba, and if I were a prosecuting attorney for the state of MT and I knew you shot someone after they were no longer a threat I'd bring you down to China town and prosecute you which unlike suing could land you in jail ;).

  • @longhairsRcool That's why you make sure the first shot is the kill shot.

  • Comment removed

  • @keithallenlaw Then is to kill them, I think your intent should be to use as much force as necessary to subdue the attacker. If they are coming at you with a knife you should shoot them but I still don't think your attention should be "I hope I killed that mother fucker", if you shoot them and they die that's their and you can't obviously guarantee it won't, but you shouldn't hope for sure or plan some way that they for sure die. Just my opinion on it. Proving intent is huge in the law.

  • @longhairsRcool My conceal carry coarse instructor who by the way is a police office, was teaching us to shoot the vital kill zones to stop them. Head and chest. So, is this officer wrong for teaching this?

  • @keithallenlaw Depends. Some of the dumbest people I've ever met especially when it comes to legal advice are cops and former cops. Under some situations shooting to kill is fine so he isn't wrong per say in teaching you that. I'd definitely seek or look up legal information/advice based on gun use for protection in your state.

  • @keithallenlaw PART 2: People have the right to protect themselves but, I think a lot of people spend way to much time thinking about this. Everyone thinks guns are for target practicing, hunting, or defending themselves from evil boogymen that might get them. This comes from the media's incessant scare tactics. The 2nd amendment and our founding fathers wanted armed citizens but robbers was only a very small reason for this. I'm going to let you think about why we really have guns ;).

  • @keithallenlaw "NOPE...Shoot to kill. I've read to many stories of bad guys surviving and suing the shit out of the defender"

That is if the adversary doesn't decide to shoot back at the defender first.

  • @keithallenlaw u are ruthless

  • @polokopolopo Thanks you. It was a lot of hard work reaching that state of being.

  • @keithallenlaw HELL YA.....BLAST THET FUKIN INTRUDER...THAT PERSON MADE THERE CHOICE TO ENTER THE HOME..SO FUCKEM....

  • @keithallenlaw Straight Up.

  • @keithallenlaw That or they in turn could then fire back... SHOOT TO KILL OR DONT

  • im new at hunting wondering what gun i should get everyone says shotgun is all purpose i hear mossberg is good and everyone loves it. what do you think? is there to much recoil? can a kid shoot it?

  • Did your tang safety break yet?? If not, it will. Winchester Defender Series is by far alot better and durable.

  • Very nice gun, I have one without heat shield or stock.

For $350 not a bad pick up, however make sure you clean after everytime you use it, It has tooling mark on alotta the actions, and mine has had many shell eject fails, but I still love it.

Basically for 350 you get what you pay for, but I trust it as a home defense gun for sure, just keep oiled.

    and

0:40 "kinda puts the fear in alot of people, too" - You know u feel like a badass with it.

  • @Olkowsr that really surprises me, I have a couple of mossbergs and never had an issue.

  • Just bought one...Very happy about it!

  • if i had that, i'd make my ex and offer she cant refuse

  • This guy sure does seem to care a hell of a lot what his gun looks like... poser. I bet you'll look really cool when the zombies come.

  • They don't call it a persuader for nothing!

  • I don't know why people get these expensive shotguns for HD. If you ever had to use it on an intruder, it's pretty much guaranteed that your weapon will be confiscated indefinitely as evidence during a very long and expensive court proceeding (especially if the dirtbag lives)

Better to get a less pricey gun that you really wouldn't miss .

  • @voodazz because morons think if they spend extra money it will make them more compitent with the weapon.

  • cocaine is a hellavuh drug

  • @Trox118 I see you caught the drip too.

  • @darkvader480 once or twice in my life perhaps.

  • you can order it online if your state lets you, i got mine for $440 at a local gun shop.

  • nice vid man. gonna picj one of those up pretty soon

  • where did you pay 350 for it cause at cabela's its like 500 if you dont mind me asking

  • That stock must be rough . Agree with cooltuber

  • I have the regular pistol grip, no heat shield either. its been a great firearm. Mossberg knows how to make shotguns. i plan on getting the ar stock and heat shield soon. no need for red dot sight tho, that thing never misses. i just stocked up on 3 inch 00..and three inch #4 shot...

  • Where did you get yours? The one at my local Gander Mtn has one for $350 but no AR stock...

  • does that stock absorb recoil?

  • I'm going to buy my very first shotgun soon, and I REALLY want this one! were can I buy it?

  • @silvershet Go to your local gun shop they should carry one if not they can usually order one for you (they may charge you extra as a "special order") and thats about it really unless you know someone with an FFL license who could go to any of the online auction sites and purchase it for you.

  • wheres that hoodie from?

  • That's sweet!!

  • I'd like to purchase one myself for home defense...any negative feedback on it???

  • @gjack916 i own a mossy 500 persuader... not exactily tactical, but it is standard issue for the police in my area... holds 7+1 shots, which i can empty within a matter of seconds... mine has just a smooth bore barrel but it still cause hurt at a distance with birdshot. just ordered a heatshield/ghostring sight for mine, which i expect to really help with target accquisition over the bead sight. as for reliability, i would take this gun over a remmy 870 any day. cant go wrong with a mossberg!

  • Great gun, I'm a huge Mossberg fan.

  • the maverick 88 is a much better buy in my opinion. It's the same gun down to the point that the parts are interchangeable, and you can pick up the maverick 88 at walmart for $177.00

  • was it 3 something WITH all the upgrades? or were those added later? and by chance where did you get it?

  • ya i have one simmiler to it i have the tactical turkey looks alot like that one mine cost 690$ so all around good gun
