  • tjis stun race fx for super nes is the best game what mega drive ;)

  • creo que es el unico juego de la epoca en incluir poligonos

  • I remember this costing £74.99 in Sega Power lol

  • @kingrich742 That price brings a tear to the eye. Where the games really that expensive back then? I remember seeing sonic and knuckles for like £65 or something when i was younger and I thought that was ridiculous!

  • @kingrich742 Well, Sega Power always seemed to tag a bit pit extra onto their prices and I think VR was the priciest of the bunch, but yeah some of the prices were pretty mad back in the day! Imagine the profits they had back then, they were selling carts so there were no copies floating about!!

  • Thanks for uploading this, this game was so expensive when it was first released.

  • The frame rate looks pretty good. Maybe even better than the SuperFX chip games on the SNES. I'm impressed.

  • I loved it, but 3 tracks was really not enough :D

  • it bugs me how it looks better than daytona usa on the saturn...

  • For some reason, polygons with barely any texture have an appeal to them and a charm that games nowadays lack.

  • check out zelda wind waker.

  • amazing game this. i still regret selling my megadrive. lots of megadrive games returns on console, like on ps3 and xbox360, but this game never was in the collection. the SVP chip really made the megadrive more powerfull. in the old day's, i never thought this game would even be possible on it, but it is, and it's really good to play ! thanks for sharing.

  • Wow, thats pretty good for it being on the Genesis/Mega Drive.

  • ive got this game but on the pal megadrive and its fucking amazing with the svp chip WHY DIDNT THEY MAKE ANYMORE GAMES WITH THE SVP CHIP LIKE DOOM, THAT WOULD OF BEEN AWSEOME

  • 'Cause 32X replaced SVP.

SVP uses custom version of Samsung SSP1601. It's 16bit 23MHz CPU(M68000 is 7.67MHz, huh.), but it can draw only 500 Polygon(s) per frame max @ 15fps, means ~6500pps.

And how can you convert 32bit CPU+16bit colour Model 1's one to 16bit Megadrive?

  • gran torismo is shit in comparison to this

  • Im sure I remember playing this years ago in the arcades - looks a lot more difficult than I remember... lol

  • Woooo! Can't wait until I can find this one finally.

  • i actually use to play this as a kid ad a lot of fun playing agaist friends and my brothers and we'd just play around and try and crash into each other at top speed going in opposite directions lol.

  • Looks like cool game. If I find this one I am def picking it up. Didnt really get to play much Sega Genesis as kid, so getting my fix now while I have money.Great vid as always.

  • SVP FTMFW! Amazing what they pulled off in that cart. The poly count is way higher than Star Fox and it runs way faster too!

  • I love this game... played the 32X version to death at Christmas 94.

It's not quite as good as the 32X or PS2 versions, but still beats the Saturn version for playability.

It's also vastly superior to the Atari Jaguar game of the same style, Checkered Flag.

  • This reminds me of Cruisin' USA for the 64, of course the graphics aren't quite as good, but they're quite good for a MegaDrive game.

  • 2:15 TIME BONER!!!

couldn't resist yelling that out back in the day!!!

Ahh, who am I kidding, I still do it today!

    lol

  • Oh, God, I absolutely HATE Bay Bridge.

I went crazy trying to find this cart last year(not surprising considering classic Sega is very unpopular here... bastards!), but since I got the cart, it's been played to death nearly every day. Sega is the king of arcade driving games. Sega A.M.2 FTW!

  • Nice game, except for the lack of in-game music.

  • 16 Bit Era , The Graphics are Great

  • I remember my friend buying this when we were like 12-13, he paid like $75 for it...crazy!!!

  • Blue blue skies I seeeee, whoops wrong game, but darn it if it doesn't remind me of that other AM2 racing classic.

  • The best version of this is on PS2. Unlike the 32X and even the Saturn version, it is a perfect arcade port.

  • @Nintega might be, but the megadrive version is easily the most impressive from a technical view.

  • @Nintega BS it is , Ps2 ver sucks handles like shit

  • i have this game,its pretty fun

  • Not bad. The graphics move along pretty fast.

  • nice music and good grapics

  • Wow that has an amazing sense of speed for such old school graphics. Always love the Sega on screen racing graphics. Bring me back to the days of spending hours on Daytona USA on the Saturn.

  • i played a fair bit of VR in the arcades when i was growing up, was pretty intense. Ive never played the mega drive version thanks for posting this vid =)

  • Music's good, graphics remind me of Starwing, looks good overall. Pretty solid game too. I'll keep an eye out for this.

  • good graphics for a 16 bit racing game

  • Bought this recently, it's pretty hard to get used to, as with many camera angles, the draw distance is really bad. But definately a good game, and worth playing. :P

  • As far as playability goes, the Mega Drive port beats the Saturn version (which isn't that good, and was programmed by another company rather than SEGA themselves).

  • Sega-AM2 did an excellent job on both the Mega Drive and 32X versions of Virtua Racing.

  • *power trusts hardcore arrogating like a super shotgun from hell and acid sprinkles

  • Oh I love virtua racing, seems like the eu version is another victim of the 50hz slow syndrome! Great vid man!!

  • *orgasms*

  • I never really noticed the 50hz slowdown on this.

  • Watch this video then listen to the music on the main menu, I'm sure it's slower, either that or I'm going senial, or both!
