When a hamster is mating, the male hamster will try the put his body on top of the female body. Thn the female's reaction if she does not wanna mate, she will try to use her snout to overturn the male from the male's belly.

If the female wanna mate, she will allow the male to climb all over her (lol) and her ears will be pointed(erect)

I have two young dwarf hamsters I'm keeping together. One is a part winter white, part campbells (the female) and a male winter white and they mated five day ago. Whenever the male encounters the female he chases her and she runs away as fast as she can. Is this normal behaviour, can I keep them together through when she gives birth? I know they'll mate again right away but I don't really mind.

Breeding pet store animals is horrible. If you actually have done research on the hamsters you would know that... You should have gotten them from reputable breeders that are responsible and are expert breeders. You also should have waited to breed until you have done more research.

@dinosaursnowcones98 Well, her friend isn't a great breeder either because in one of the videos of those baby pearl hamsters, they were too young to be sold. Therefore, BOTH of them are irresponsible breeders. Just because someone is a breeder doesn't make them a good reputable one.

@TwoMuskateers I do not know the situation with your hamster but a 2 year old hamster is an old hamster. it might be him just getting old. OR it might have some sort of parasites or mites. You can treat that by getting medicine at the pet store. Take ur hamster to the vet.

@L0S3RN0T sometimes 2 hamsters are NOT compatible. So maybe you should try a different hamster pair? :T I've never had that problem but Ive heard about it :T separate them and try again in 2 days.

@MrHamsterify yes you can. that is what is happening in this video. Most likely, there will be no sapphire off springs. its a 1/4 chance. but the chances are really low. Sapphire had 3 litters and all were Boo's color (agouti) maybe boo's genetics are too strong? do tell me your results

I've got robos lol but i really want to get winter whites =D if you get like one girl one from one petshop, then go home and put her in her cage for a few days, then a few days later when that girl has settleed in then go get another one from like a different petshop - will the 2 get on or will it result in a fight? cus i know they're really like tame but their still dwarfs, or do u have to get them both on the same day?? @mangoandpearl well, from my experience, I got one and the next day got another and there was no fighting. these two in this video was actually a week apart and they are just fine. but I did separate them for over a month and when i put them together, they fight. So i think your limit is really one week. :(

@dogman2205 the female needs to be in heat. She will be in heat every 4 days for 18 hours. usually happens in the morning or night. hope that helps :D male doesnt need to be in heat. He is fertile until he dies.
