A submission isn't going to work? Don't look for a victory with it? Ummm, does anyone know why? Aren't matches usually won by pinfall or submission? Was there something different about this particular match?
@baronvg I believe he was alluding to how tough the wrestlers were; that none of them would give up, no matter what submission hold you put on them. That obviously went out the window, 6 years later, when Lex Luger defeated Bret Hart, with the Torture Rack, to capture the WCW US Heavyweight Championship.
Great classic wrestling Match. This is the meaning of what great wrestling is all about. Guys with the talent and the ability to back up their craft in the ring and these four guys showed what they were all about as far as their ability was concerned. Indeed one of the best tag team matches of the 90's, or possibly the best tag match of the 90's. I would've liked to see these 2 teams wrestle in a 2 out of 3 falls match which would have definitely went to the the 60 Minute mark or so.
@brnleague99 Both Steiners always got into fights backstage lol, Rick Steiner apparently had a bit of a punch up with Tank Abbott when he was in WCW too.
At 1:14 that suplex/pile driver was unbelievable. Owen had to have jarred his next with that move. This is real pro wrestling. These guys are great performers. Is there a match with the stainers vs the hart foundation? would love to see the Anvil in there with Rick.
I never watched WCW growing up so I remember one day seeing Scott Steiner as Big Poppa Pump (this was obviously a few years after his time in WWF) and I didn't know which Steiner he was! For the longest time I thought he was Rick, they look so alike especially with the facial hair!!! Haha!
Why wasn't this match on a PPV? The WWFs PPVS around this time were atrocious, especially Survivor Series 1993 which is one of the worst PPVs of all time yet had great talent booked in terrible matches with terrible opponents.
The Steiners had some good matches in the WWF with Heavenly Bodies, Quebeckers and Bret & Owen but there wasn't enough good tag-teams for the Steiners to wrestle, they were better off in WCW wrestling L.O.D, Doom, Faces of Fear, Sting & Luger, Skyscrapers and others.
@CaptainHowdy187 Because Vince's focus was on the Steroids Trial.. this is when WWF at the time lost it's luster... crowd outfits alone you can tell it was Post- Hulk Hogan era... I can only hope that once Vince passes on the wwe name that the new owner does not ruin this company
Scott's a has-been. Anyway GREAT MATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 MOTHER FUCKING STARS IF I COULD GO HIGHER IT WOULD BE TNE MOTHER FUCKING STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@wasimgrendizer i was always wondering did the harts against the steiners. when they came to wwf. sho nuff it went down. yeah i thought the anvil with been in the match
this was the mecca of wrestling, i luv dis old school wrestling shit, u dont need all the wrestlemania hype or marketing, this is gr8 if 1 person is watching this or 20,000 or whatever the crowd number, bret hart is the best there is the best there ever will be, and the not so jacked up steiner, had one of the best maneuvers rip owen hart one of the best technical wrestlers, and ricky, a great technical wrestler.
So, I watched this match on the new Hart Family Anthology DVD last night, and there are two problems: 1) The video quality is shaky at times (annoying glitch that should have been fixed before these DVDs were released to market) and 2) Gorilla Monsoon's hilarious jab at Pat Patterson's weight--believe it or not--was edited out! I'm not kidding. I couldn't believe my ears. Surely Patterson isn't so vain and sensitive that he would have them remove Gorilla's comments!
This was like a Dream Match, Harts vs Steiners, Owen & Bret could've made one Hell of a tag team championship duo if they would've been gave that role, I liked their fued though, so i'm glad they went the opposite direction, but what an encounter right here.

The Steiners of 1989-1993 were the best tag team ever. Before Scott turned himself into a steroid freak.

@brnleague99 Heh, Steiners were awesome until 1997. Plus Scott was/is entertaining as hell as "Big Poppa Pump" - especially on the stick.

@BlackLabelEric Yeah but Big Poppa Pump was a troublemaker who was always fighting backstage and getting arrested.

@2rotties2 I don't believe there is. The Hart Foundation broke up in 1991, The Steiners started in the company in 1992 and left in 1994.
