i get that the cars full electric. but does it seriously have to look like garbage too? i dont get the thing with making "new and life changing" cars look like shit.
@MrEnergyCzar Yeah...that's one big reason I dont think I'd buy this, not without a highly increased range and/or a redundant backup gas motor - gas stations are ubiquitous, charging stations are not at all- and even gas stations can be hard to come by in some remote areas. The Leaf won't do well in this country, I'll bet. Needs a 300 mile range and more stations, first. This is a 3,000 mile country, after all, and not all of us spend our days in a 5 mile range.
@businesseast There is charging station going to be installed all over the country over the next few years, so you can stop and recharge the car as little as 30 minutes and while your car is being charge you can enjoy a cheesburger or starbucks coffee or just looking at some shops.
haha if you listen closely there talking about telsa motors in the back round they even say tesla at the end... Tesla is the apple of electric cars if they ever come out with an inexpensive electric car its all over Tesla will be a house hold name like jordan and lebron
YouTube "2011 Nissan LEAF, Customer Benefits" or look at the related videos to your right and find this video. This will answer all your questions. 45:00-55:00 answers how the battery can be charged. The cost? Roughtly $1.15 a gallon (meaning out of your electric bill).
@meazi01 That depends. Charging at home will add a cost to your electricity bill, but I believe most public charging stations are payed for with taxpayer money and are therefore free to use.
There is a need for charging stations to be there in the millioins. At motorway service stations, hotels, motels, shopping malls, cinema complexs and supermarkets and every new home built !
@suicidehotline1 The Leaf probably wont work as well in extreme cold areas. Most of the cars seem to be targeted at mild climate regions like California. The Pacific Northwest, Southwest and the south east.
@suicidehotline1 There is a winter package you can order the car with. A bettery heat management system is included for driving in really cold weather. Actually, batteries don't do well in heat at all. Colder climate make batteries last longer than in hot climates...
Coal generated power plants run 24/7 regardless if there are electric cars being charged or not. The current power output of the nations existing power plants is adequate to charge a million EV's. Of course there wont be a million EV's anytime soon so the argument is moot. The grid is becoming greener and smarter and will grow to meet the needs of future EV's.
This is rather pointless until you get rid of things like cola generation stations. All you are doing is drawing more current from a far from green grid. Sorry.
Also how will it fare in extremely low temperatures like in Canada? Canada can see up to -40C in the winter for a few days.
I just find this type of thing horribly impractical.
@suicidehotline1 Totally practical for where I live and my driving needs. We have mild winters and 95% of our electricity is from hydro electric dams. Nation wide the grid is getting greener all the time. This car isnt for everyone but it will work for a large number of people. I ordered mine in blue with fast charge plug in.
@suicidehotline1 So reducing our use of foreign oil from nations that fund terrorism is useless? Saudi Arabia , Iraq , Libya and socialist Venezuela will be happy to hear that. Why do you want to fund and enable terrorists with your gas dollars?
You fail to consider that Coal Power Plants currently run nonstop through the night (because it'd take more power to restart them every single day). Using this energy that would otherwise go to waste makes sense and it is environmentally sound.
What doesn't make sense is to continue to run coal plants and burn gasoline on our reciprocal engines (ICEs) on top of that.
I wanna KNOW! DO YOU HAVE TO PAY? I mean not that is a problem, how would the fees work?

@kpappletech how long does it take to charge!?
TheK20a 8 months ago
@TheK20a Nissan says 7 hours from 0 percent, but the reality is that I use about 30 percent and top the battery off every night.
The longest charge was 4 hours, from 60 percent to full.
The 480 volt quick charge takes a 20 percent battery to 100 percent in under 30 minutes though.
