Agreed; the Foos really don't compare to Nirvana in influence. Nirvana was a genre defining grunge rock band. Nirvana was so influential that no other then Page&Plant sought out the same producer (Steve Albini) that Nirvana used on In Utero used to record their 1998 CD. Page/Plant chose him because they wanted a rougher sound and liked the roughness he captured in Nirvana's sound.

There are so many inaccuracies in this post. Zep formed in 68 and WS in about 75, but really did not develop the sound that made them big until about 82. It is Coverdale and Plant that had similar looks. Zeps roots are in the blues..WS roots are pretty much Zep. Dave Grohl is a legendary musician from a band almost as influential as Zep itself.

Listen to Nevermind, Nirvana was very melodic. Even En Utero during all the screaming like Very Ape it was still darn melodic.

Don't get me wrong I liked WhiteSnake even when it was just Deep Purple with a different guitarist. Coverdale, especially at this point is probably a better singer technically then Plant, but really Coverdale is just walking in Plant's footstep.

I read an interview w/ Grohl the morning of the Friday gig, and he DID say that, THAT show was basically a warmup.
