Yes, you can use them for basketball. We also have another routine specifically for basketball. YouTube won't allow me to put the link to it here, but if you go to our channel page by clicking on the "StretchingInstitute" link above and scrolling through our videos you'll find it there. It's called...
Basketball Stretches, Basketball Stretching Routine, Flexibility Program for Basketball Players
This is very helpful because it quickly goes through the stretches so you can remember them. Also I agree I like that they don't talk. These are not hard to figure out.
Sometimes my legs have muscular pain after I run a lot, but now I know how to stretch before running or jogging, so I'll be fine. Thank you so much, it was really helpful and easy to follow.
Thank you for uploading this helpful video!! I'm learning PE class in my school and what you are showing is just like what I'm learning in my class, so it was very easy to understand and follow. I think I will be more flexable if I do this stretching routine often!
The theory is that you shouldn't do static stretching immediately before power based activities like sprinting and jumping. Static stretching is where you get into the stretching position and then hold that position, without moving, for 20, 30 or more seconds. On the other hand, dynamic stretching is more appropriate for warming up and preparing for sprinting, etc. There's more information on warming up and stretching at The Stretching Institute website; just do a search for warm up.
I just started running and tried out a few stretches on youtube, since I had no clue which to do. This is by the far the best video out there! I have NO soar muscles after I do these stretches (unlike with some of the others I have tried)! I use it every time now, before and after running!
You should do both. The first time to warm up her muscles and get good circulation. The second is to prevent painful acid build up in the muscles after.
This has really helped out my exercise routine. Thanks!

Sorry, but I'm not sure where the music came from. It was royalty free music that the producer chose for the DVD.

Can anyone tell what the music to this video is?

I say after...you shouldn't stretch cold muscles ..you should at least warm up with some running at an easy pace for 10 min

@kamalov79 You're absolutely right! Stretching should be performed when the body is warmed up. :)
