Crimes have to be punished based on damage caused. You want to make the most heinous damaging crimes, such as murder, just a little higher up than some sexual crimes and you would get more murder since sexual crimes always have witnesses.

They may not like it, but they have to do it. Everyone has a right to legal counsel, just like everyone has a right to a fair, transparent and public trial. If we take away the right of counsel, then we take away fair trial, which is the basis of modern protection from the state.
The Justice system doesnt really stand for REAL justice they just have to put someone behind bars at the end of the trial. Lawyers get into the practice probably with the intention of helping good people but at the end of the day there is always a guilty person as well and they just wanna make their pay cheque so they handle the case anyways.. its sad and its the reason I would never be one. How do they live with themselves after knowing that they have helped a criminal escape their crime?

The laws in Canada are rediculous for these people too, they are isolated in prision so that the other inmates dont fucken kill them. We have 900+ sex offenders (some of them repeat sex offenders) in Toronto, and then when they get out we dont have the right to know who they are or where they live. about the "law making it possible that once a person admits to guilt, they can't be defended" mainly because some cases are faulse, if someone supposedly raped someone, they need proof, if the persons defense capabilities are taken away from them because they were pressured to say so, then it's a missed judged trial, your statement would only really be effective if everyone or atleast most were sincere, truthfull people that had GOOD moral, ethical standards, and proof.

My step daughters molester has 3 priors, was up on 2 chargers from her and 2 from another girl and he spent a total of 4 1/2 months in jail and he was out.. He has probation for 2 yrs and has to give DNA and go on the sex offenders registry but now this little girl of 8 yrs old can not sleep, shower or function properly anymore all the while hes walking the streets with his girlfriend and her 2 kids and one they have together.

Crimes have to be punished based on damage caused. You want to make the most heinous damaging crimes, such as murder, just a little higher up than some sexual crimes and you would get more murder since sexual crimes always have witnesses.
How can you almost equate these things with murder when nobody would ever refuse to do anything with a gun to their head, unless they thought they'd die anyway?
Also, I think that if you treat victims like their life is over, you are worse than the rapist.

From another stand point, lawyers are first and foremost officers of the court, and they're first priority is to ensure that justice is done. They do this by ensuring that PROSECUTION lawyers are doing there job properly. If a guilty man goes free, then it's not the fault of defense council, it's the fault of the prosecution for giving a sub-standard performance. That's how lawyers sleep at night.

I agree with you entirely Boetje, but we have to be careful when hating on the lawyers. These guys are doing there job, and obeying the rules of their profession. They may not like it, but they have to do it. Everyone has a right to legal counsel, just like everyone has a right to a fair, transparent and public trial. If we take away the right of counsel, then we take away fair trial, which is the basis of modern protection from the state.

The Justice system doesnt really stand for REAL justice they just have to put someone behind bars at the end of the trial. Lawyers get into the practice probably with the intention of helping good people but at the end of the day there is always a guilty person as well and they just wanna make their pay cheque so they handle the case anyways.. its sad and its the reason I would never be one. It's tragic that lawyers can get away with defending the guilty, but unfortunately in at least the US judicial system they still have the right to an attourney and a trial. i'm sure there are still lawyers who represent them that are sickened that they have to do so, but ethically they're bound to defend their client...no matter how despicable or guilty they are.
Also, I'd put Child Molestation above murder. I'd have more respect for a murderer than a child rapist any day of the week.

I currently live in the USA and my daughter was kidnapped by a family friend and his friend, taken to an empty bar and molested for hours. The dectectives recorded our friend admitting to this. The prosecutor, here now almost 3 years later, STILL have done nothing to these men. My daughters life is ruined. She has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and can't finish her education due to the trauma. You are right on with what you are saying, as usual.

The laws in Canada are rediculous for these people too, they are isolated in prision so that the other inmates dont fucken kill them. We have 900+ sex offenders (some of them repeat sex offenders) in Toronto, and then when they get out we dont have the right to know who they are or where they live. There is no law that says a lawyer cannot stop defending a guilty client. They can, but choose not to because of money. And how many women have claimed rape to get back at a hated lover or ex? There are few [American] studies on the matter, and a broad one would be hard to standardize anyway, but I've seen two on areas where a case can only be closed as false if the accuser [read woman] admits to false accusation. In each scenario about 50% ADMIT to making false accusations, even though they face charges in return.
