@TJLan86 thanks! VST (Virtual Studio Technology) refers to the overall software technology of and the "i" refers specifically to "instruments".. although some people just use the term "VST" generically to refer to whatever they're talking about, be it instruments, effects plugins, etc.. in the context of my description I'm just referring to working with virtual instruments. Hope that answers your question.
I love this overall, nicely worked, the only thing I'd change is the middle, where it's seemed to drift on aimlessly. I'm not sure whether you wanted realism, but this is the only other place this falls short it - slightly synthy in places near the start. Still, this doesn't stop this from becoming a really well made composition :)
Your sound is mixed very well. your feel is very good. Very nice piece. I also would like you to check out my channel and tell me what you think of my music.
Cubase AI comes free with certain Yamaha hardware. You can also buy different Cubase versions on steinberg's site. If you have no money to spend on a sequencer, you could try Reaper, which is free. I've heard good things about it. For East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra, you can check the soundsonline or soundsonline-europe website for current prices. The Silver version is the most affordable and you can always upgrade later to Gold if you want or need.
@tearsinraine Excuse me tearsinraine, hey I wanted to ask, how good is the East West Symphonic Orchestra Silver Complete? I ask because I like to write a lot of Symphonic Metal songs, and I use Sibelius 6 to write the symphonic parts, but it doesn't sound as authentic as I would like, and I can only afford the Silver Complete, but can you tell me if it is worth getting in your opinion?
@ReneIsSoCool101Yes That's a tough one. I've never used Silver. so I don't really know. I did look at the articulation list, but it's tough to say what's "good enough" because it would be different for everyone. If possible, I would suggest waiting and saving up for the Gold edition. soundsonline also runs semi-regular sales.. most of them are buy1get1 or 3for2 which doesn't help your money situation, but just recently they ran a 50% off special on EWQLSO so maybe wait for a special? Good luck!
@tearsinraine Ok thank you for your opinion! But aside from the more complex articulations, does the VSTi differ from any of the versions? Like, does Gold/Platinum sound more authentic compared to Silver or does it sound the same? Right now I'm more concerned with authentic VSTi for the moment, and I have no problem upgrading to Gold if that's the case.
@ReneIsSoCool101Yes Gold has more articulations than Silver. Platinum has additional mic positions as well as higher bit-rate samples. All this helps to produce a better performance/sound. So is Gold capable of producing a better performance than Silver? Yes, because it has additional articulations. Do you absolutely need these additional articulations? Only you can say. Take a look at the articulation list. Also, you might want to check out the soundsonline forums for additional help.
Thanks for the nice comments! I've had some issues with running out of system resources when putting together some newer pieces so I've been (slowly) looking into upgrading my hardware. I'm hoping to get it sorted out soon. Thanks again for listening!
Oh wow! This is a great. You're excellent. I too have made original compositions that I may post. Their more darker than this... I'm more of a dark composer... But this... I see this like an overture to like a totally badass RPG like Oblivion, Morrowind, and The Legend of Zelda, or a great fantasy movie like Lord of the Rings! You're a great composer!
Hey, thanks for all the kind words! I appreciate it, really! I checked out your channel.. keep it up with the guitar! Looking forward to hearing your original compositions when you post them. Thanks again!
Thanks so much. I enjoy your music as well. Your piano playing is incredible. Looks like you play all sorts of instruments. Looking forward to checking out more your music!
how much does cubase of any kind normally cost? im planning on getting it because i absolutely love orchestral music and am wanting to produce a few certain bits from different movies that werent on the soundtracks
cubase is just the sequencer, so what you'll probably want are a sequencer as well as an orchestral sample library for the sounds... and you'll have various choices for either (with prices being all over the board, so the cost really comes down to your needs and budget). For Cubase, you can check retail prices at Steinberg's official site to give you an idea. If you're a student, definitely be sure to check for educational pricing, for whatever product(s) you decide to purchase.
Thanks! I think you'll be very happy with ewqlso gold. I found it pretty easy to get started with it and that's coming from a relative newcomer to computer-based music. For this piece I used about a dozen MIDI tracks with 16 or so VST instruments loaded. I never seem to have enough memory tho, but I guess that's inevitable. Hope that helps.
I only got to :10 seconds and i felt i had to rewind it over and over again. It is so amazing. I can't even get through it without being amazed to the point where i can't breath anymore. Magnificent job man.
Danke! Nochmal vielen dank!
Wow this is nice! A Very big sounding arrangement the final 20secs or so are very epic. Overall it's nicely orchestrated and powerful with some nice contrasting sections. 5/5
