"He's very brave and very wise... Oh, an did I mention that he's your father?" Lol! Sorry, I shouldn't have made fun of that part, but it was so tempting... I love this movie do much. I'm going to watch it on Saturday, just because of this video.
@jasmined799 it's because they knew how to convey the emotions of the animals through the music. i still get goose bumps and get all tense when i watch this scene. notice how very little is actually said and all of the actions and emotions are spoken through the music. it's something that all of the new disney movies lack. there's too much talking. senseless talking.
The music, drawings, and editing of "Gallop of the Stags" is only one of many things in "Bambi" that suggest it should have been nominated for the Best film Oscar of 1942 -- and it maybe should have won.
3:20 > end This is without a doubt one of Disney's scariest sequences, made even more haircurling by the great musical score and the sound placement of the birds and that rifle shot. Years ago, I saw "Bambi" in a large theater with a very large screen. At the end of this sequence, about four seconds after the rifle shot, a ten year old boy ran up the aisle into the lobby barfing all the way. I'd say that's high praise for the scariness of a piece of art -- or stomach flu.
The toddler Bambi is so pretty I almost want to cry anytime I see him on the screen. I will admit that the first time I saw this movie in a theater back in 1975, I found the teenage voices of the teenage Bambi and his boy friends so disconcerted that I fully expected to hear one of them say, "Hey guys, let's go the malt shoppe and see if we can find girls."
This movie made me respect deer so much. Like, why, when you see a deer with antler's the size of Bambi's fathers, would you want to shoot him down? It's senseless. That deer is majestic and clearly has good genes that he should pass on to as many offspring as he can..
@SlakyCampa Yes I think when he leads Bambi away after his mother is shot he says something like 'Come with me, my son.' I can't remember very well but I'm sure it's much clearer in the book.
@HairBrigade You're right! Sorry it's been a long time since I watched, but I rewatched it last night and it is clear that the Great Prince is his dad. :)
i'm utterly speechless by the beauty of everything in that scene(even though the scene near the end is still creeping me out, and i'm 19), the animation, the realistic animals, the background, the music, every detail in each animal and environment. Come back to that Disney, you used to have glory and beauty back then.
Bambi Is without questen the most honest movie Disney ever made. I would wish more animations today would contain just a bit of that same honesty.
When I was kid, everytime The Great Prince of The Forrest makes his entrance, I was sitting in awe in front if the screen, just like all the rest of the deers. (or actually I still do that).
I recommend every person liking this movie to read the book it was based on. It´s not that romanticed as the movie was, the movie left few characters out and mainly just softened the story´s image majorly. I can say that again, I prefer the book over the movie. I just hope I´ll soon be able to buy it´s sequel :)
I played this track first when I bought the soundtrack. I got a ride from my father to work, and I put it on. He asked me what symphony this was, it's not a symphony I said. "It's Gallop of the Stags in the meadow in Bambi." "Oh yeah."
It had been more than 15 years since he heard it, but remembered it none the less.
@scoobydoo308 What you don't see scares you more than what you do see. "If you can't put a face on the man, or men, hunting them, it will make you more scared for them." So said Disney, in some words or other.
I always marveled at how realistic the deer actually look, and also how gentle and wise bambi's moms voice was, nothin like my mom I'll tell you that XD
Bambi trying to act like stag, the look of other bucks, in awe.
I've still yet to see a "forest prince", they must be hiding with all the unicorns or something. Thank you so much for this upload, I've wanted the gallop of the stag music for about 3 years.
I agree, The Lion King was my favorite all my life until this year when I rewatched Bambi, and it's my new favorite, I love it with all my heart. My second favorite is Pinocchio.
Ah it also brought tears to my eyes when they speak about the great prince of the forest, the accompaning score is so sensitive to the animation. Everything about this scene here is so moving.. EVERYTHING
What made me mad about this song on the soundtrack is that the cymbals only clash every other time. D: So it's Shttt.....shttt......shttt.....shttt! instead of Shttt Shttt Shttt Shttt Shttt Shttt Shttt!!!
Why did the change it? ;o;
And I love when his daddy comes to save him. xD Even though no respectful hunter would shoot a baby deer.
@SecksTheSniper That was his dad that saved him? Omg i never realised i always thought it was a different stag cos of the colouring when he was in shadow.
snowwhite says awesome movie :)
