  • I had the privilege of seeing Evelyn Glennie perform this work 10 years ago with the Orchestra at Temple Square, and it's a concert I will never forget.

  • It's spelt "Ottawa".

  • WATERGONGGGGGGGGG <3

We're performing this piece with Dame Evelyn Glennie Monday March 7th at SIUC :-) <3 Woohoo!

  • I saw the Nashville Symphony perform this piece live tonight. It was awesome!!! So powerful.

  • For a VERY amateur band musician, a really GOOD percussionist playing serious percussion instruments is a joy to watch. As much as we give percussionists a hard time, they get to have much more fun kinetically and more opportunities to show off than the rest of us.

  • Mr. Schwantner hopes to see orchestra percussion sections enlarged to 6 members in his lifetime. Well -No serious conductor is going to be convinced to enlarge a percussion section when he hears this guy's music - on the contrary he's going to want to reduce it!

  • i just saw this live at the lexington philharmonic it was amazing

  • How do you get a copy of the "2 piano reduction"?

  • @percussionhunk

I believe it has to be rented on the publisher's website.

  • I was at this concert and I am still speechless years later. I was literrally floating on air for days after seeing Evelyn perform this. I saw her perform Corigliano's concerto tonight with TSO, and even though it was amazing, this performance beats it all..........

  • You weren't "literally floating on air". You may have been happy, but gravity still applied.

  • this piece was written for Chris Lamb of the NY Philharmonic for the 150th Anniversary of the NY Phil

  • I was there at the performance. To be honest, I got alot more out of Ravel's La Valse, but Schwantner has amazing soundscapes nonetheless.

  • I think Schwantner is, in every sense but nationality, this century's Ravel.

  • A nice look behind the scenes.

While I envy greatly the variety of sounds available to the percussionist, as someone who doesn't really -enjoy- lugging gear, this video made me kind of glad I play guitar!

    : < )

  • Pssh, she doesn't lug that stuff around! She hires other people to do it for her.

  • My point was that the average working percussionist has some awkward to gear to lug.

  • Oh, very much so.

  • Awesome concerto! Definitely better in the orchestral version.

  • Phenomenal composer, performer and music!

  • I hope there will be more concerto for percussion!!

  • There are around 140 pieces that have been written specifically for Evelyn and no shortage of other pieces as well. Do a google search or write to the EG office for more info.
