Love his music. Was he playing with Alan Parson's Project before they were popular? If so, I remember him from when I was in the US Coast Guard in Petaluma CA. Always knew he had talent. Good for you man! Marco
To all those pin heads that are "recreating" Cleveland, take heed, Cleveland was built on Rock & Roll!! Keep it simple stupid! If you want to create the future of this magnificent city, you need to incorporate some of its past (history). We had motto's in those days: "Cleveland, You Got To Be Tough" & "Cleveland, The Rock & Roll Capitol of the World". Listen to the PEOPLE of Cleveland, and the world! Show the world that politics & PEOPLE can rebuild a city.
Also the metro parks and the lake are beautiful. I also heard there's a bigfoot in the parks lol. Probably just some dick in a monkey suit but so what. I don't give a fuck what anyone says. This city is the shit. ( < The shit, is a good thing in this context.) PEACE!
Cleveland wins. Even though corporations and corrupt politicians have totally fucked the people in this city, it's still a fine place to live. Sure the winters blow, and we got a bunch of retarded bugs that come every summer (whos only purpose is to fly here from Canada, procreate, and then die by the way) in giant swarms, but they're harmless. This state in general has a lot of interesting history. Plus, we got the rock hall of fame. Anyways, great video, and good luck my fellow Americans.PEACE
I saw him at this performance at the Agora and I have a phone video of him performing it and mentioning me at the beginning when he was playing the hamburger festival in Akron, Ohio!! Thanks for posting this!!!
I ran into Alex last summer...still a total smart-ass!!! And therefore, still representing us Clevelanders. Nice seeing you at Lauries and Steve's at PIB, Alex...Paula
Hey Alex.....I know you've probably heard this before, but from one old lifelong Clevelander to another, I'd like to thank you for writing and performing what clearly is the consummate Cleveland anthem...."Skinny Little Boy From Cleveland, Ohio". All these years later, it's still the timeless classic song of this city that expresses this town's spirit and love of rock and roll.
"Throw your Soapers in the sink, gimme whiskey in my glass. The bourbon tastes mean, but it sure beats Listerine. It gets your breath twice as clean, gets you high twice as fast." Great stuff!
Anyone have the Christmas version from the Christmas Coffee Break concert '79? I used to have it on cassette, but it got stolen years ago.
This is fantastic!- makes this not so skinny girl who moved away terribly homesick! You wouldn't by chance have a copy of Grand River Lullaby? I lost my copy some years back and would love to hear it again.
@burtward78 I was at that same concert. I grew up in Cortland. I remember is was so weird seeing Alex Bevan in a church, especially when he sang "skinny little boy from Cleveland Ohio"
Where didn't we see this guy in the mid 70's...he only defined a generation of us skinny little beer hounds of Clevelend...I ain't exactly skinny anymore but I still drink them women and chase them beers!!
wow, Surf Side Six... used to hang out there in the late 70's early 80's... left Lorain in 82, moved back to the area a few years ago... i think about Surf Side Six everytime i drive west from old Ford plant
Im an ectomorphic old man in Phoenix now, but what an excellent montage, and my favorite Cleveland Song. It brought great memories of N.E. Ohio in my 20's.
alex!! omg! i took that song around the world with me when i was in the army... i was the ectomorphic young man drinking beer and chasing women in every one of the 20 countries i went to... and playing that song!!
