  • the horns sound so nice on this

  • reminds me of when i was a kid in brooklyn.

  • my jam!!!! I always felt this song was an "sos"..so poignant. (whats up with the sped up edit..lol)

  • Don,'t run away from reality. Great song, thanks

  • After all Sly will be this music.

  • 当時度肝抜いた"暴動"を構成する、コケティッシュ曲"ラニング・アウェイ"~スライの魔術~きわめて軽そうで、ファンクの重み~カワイイ声自体ファンキー

  • loved this when i use to hear it playing on radio 1, back in the 70's, still as good today to listen to, thanks for this

  • @mingmong55 A masterpiece.Sly was always my man.So far ahead of his time.Later others became pale imitations. This song really speaks of the present times.Makes me feel good to know i was around during thies era.

  • Never heard this before. What a gift....soooo BEAUTIFUL! So poppy and refreshing. Where would music be in the 20 21st century w/o this groups influence

  • Never heard this before. What a gift....soooo BEAUTIFUL!

  • damn nice

  • FUNK ME !!!!

  • @4evaclapham Funk you

  • やっぱり、スライは真っ先にこれを聞いちゃう! RUNNING AWAY、チャーミング・ストーン

  • Hey, Tribe used elements from this rare break for "description of a fool" Good find on this one.

  • WOW JUST FUCKING WOW!!!!!!!

They had some goooooooooooood ass dope back then

  • Who is singing lead on this? Cynthia?

  • @shmuli9 - Rose is singing lead with just a faint bit of sly to double her vocal.

  • One of my all-time favorite groups and songs

  • this song reminds of hanging out in my big brother's room while he listened to his records - great memories!

  • Also, this song reminds me of "Kim Craig" The Best Newsreporter Channel 7 of Detroit, Michigan has ever had. No disrespect to the others @ all.

  • I'm diging this song-thank you so much for the post!

I hear Donald Byrd and the Blackbyrds style- is he on this cut?

  • @MinisterLynne - I'm not sure "MinisterLynne" - i hope someone is able to tell you :-)

  • @MinisterLynne No.... This is all Sly and The Family Stone

  • Once again, eye still love you "Labrenda Walker" R.I.P. to your brother too.

  • Woke up with this song on my mind. Back in 1971 this was my fave...it's still a masterpiece that influenced so many bands like Funkadelic etc. Sly was in a bad way around this time.

His pot of gold at the rainbows end was a ghetto illusion.

He was being hounded by Black Panthers etc,but the smooth, depressive beauty of this song has a message that many can relate to...more so today. Thank you for posting this diamond.

  • @taildragger53 - You're very welcome "taildragger53" - and thanx to Sly for his wonderful music :-)

  • @BabyBollox Thank you!!!!

  • another day your farther away, a longer trip back home

  • always a good message from sly.

    thank you sly

  • It's not happy, listen to the lyrics.
