This video in my opinion is just pure excitement......annoying to me but you can't blame them......Zenyatta is a very special horse. It's not all about her wins ....they or more like "we" love her personality and spunk. Btw where are you from?

Poor Zenyatta. Most people like to think she 'dances' like that for fun. Truthfully she does that because shes overwhelmingly nervous by the flocking people around her all the time. Having that many people be with you every day is extremely stressful for a horse. I understand why the Jacksons rarely paraded her, or showed her off to fans. Its too stressful for a horse to take in that much in a day. I don't think Zenyatta will miss her past career.

I found it sick people liked to pretend she was 'dancing', shes not a a spanish Lipizanner stallion. Horses just don't do these without some sort of stimulation. She was stressed, and people didn't care. That urked me.

Now that is some bullshit. She has been doing her nervous strut throughout her career. You could argue they put cotton in her ears because Hollywood Park has an airport next to it, but wherever she goes she has cotton-ears. Its fact, she was a nervous horse. People just like to pretend silly things like she was dancing. Shes not the only one who does it.

Not all horses are affected by it, some passively ignore it like Ruffian did. But don't you think it says something when she constantly had sound muffling cotton in her ears, and Mike Smith would order the crowd to shush so she wouldn't get all wired up. She only faced Males 2 times in her career, so I doubt she was calling for a mate. You will see in her pre-race coverage she dd it constantly, long before the BCC. Go For Wand never faced males.

People who race horses the epitome of slavers. Zenyatta is not prancing from joy, she is trying to get her tongue out and over the bit and chain in her mouth. She can barely breathe, can't you tell that she is in distress? She is not collected while she walks, this is not fun and she is not dancing as you put it. Horses don't let their tongues loll out of their mouth while they are playing, they are not dogs! This is scientifically showing that Zenyatta is not breathing properly.

@Highroadgypsies As a major natural horsemanship/equine psychology proponent and one who has issues with horse racing, I can assure you she is still acting out of excitement (adrenaline) and exuberance. She is not being held in hyperflexion, nor is her airway being cut off. She is bowing her neck and her leg actions are a displaced behavior of wanting to go forward in anticipation of running. Tongues often go to the side as a displacement due to the tongue ties they use (which I disagree with).

She does the same thing just walking in a halter. Everything about her body language speaks to exuberance rather than distress. It's important for people who want to reform animal industries (including myself) to be able to acknowledge normal behavior in a given situation from actual physical/mental/emotional stress. While that is abundant in racing, it is not the case here. She wants to go over the bit but can't because of the tongue tie, hence the mouthing and the head toss. That's it.

@Highroadgypsies if you knew anything you'd know that her tongue is tied so that she cannot block her airway or get her tongue over the bit, which is VERY painful for her mouth. many trainers use this method not only for racing but also for young horses so they do not make the mistake of getting their tongues over the bit. once they learn, the tongue tie is no longer used. not all racehorses need it, but i'm sure there is a good reason she has one, and i'm sure it is for her safety
