  • -offers - your appearance and attidude is important - negativity and appearance will close doors even when you do not have a record - job seekers out there: keep trying, keep learning, find support groups, tell yourself you are worthy (because you are!) and most of all: keep smiling and being pleasant - - talk to those who have found jobs

  • how about sending Eric Holder a thank you note - he's put together some kidn of group that is researching how to make employment easier for exos - i work in a job program that helps folks with barriers and 40% of my clients have background issues

  • this list needs to be updated,MAYBE about half of it will consider hire.i know for a fact.im an ex-con.and the extent of my crime 12yrs ago still hold me to a very limited few types of jobs.all depends on the crime

  • Either these companies have changed recently or the people that I've talked to made boldface lies to me.

  • The distinction needs to be made between ex offenders and ex felons. some ex offenders can get jobs a felon can't. But if a person stays out of trouble, depending on the crime, say for 5 years, they need to be able to move on. England has a program like that that allows young offenders to move on and get a job, so that they are not punished forever and even older people get a chance to move on. But in the US, Jail is a business. they start to build jails based on how many kids fail kindergarten

  • help the economy by letting americans who made mistakes whn they wre young and grew up get jobs. stop givin the jobs to illegal imigrants who prolly committed worse crimes to get in the us. keep repeat offenders in. and cut the old numbers loose.

  • the prison system is designed to keep everyone in. if someone is not gonna fly right then they will be bak in jail in no time(we all know that).. but what about the person trouble free for 5 or 10 years and still cnt get a job? lower unemployment by making it possible for people to eat without commitin a crime to do so

  • i dont believe most of those companies hire felons at all...american express hiring a felon? yeah right..of courese theyll tell someone else the dont EXCLUDE felons meaning they cant tell a felon not to fill out an application but thats as far as it goes.theyll just toss the app in the trash when they see the word FELON.

  • Its crazy how people without a felony can come up with ideas.........you will never understand until its you with the felony.....they say start your own business like its that easy.......it takes money to make money. I was convicted in 1997 and discharged in 1999...i have not been arrested nor convicted of any crimes since then and its 2010 and i cant find a job for nothing. The problem is these days employers have so many more options they dont have to hire people with backgrounds!

  • @74karonligon i dont believe most of those companies hire felons at all...american express hiring a felon? yeah right..of courese theyll tell someone else the dont EXCLUDE felons meaning they cant tell a felon not to fill out an application but thats as far as it goes.theyll just toss the app in the trash when they see the word FELON.its really sad and unfair.i wish u the best.

  • @74karonligon I do not have a felony on my record but for over a year I had a pending felony that was later dismissed due to lack of evidence. I fully understand & felt what many felons go through when it came time to going out & looking for a job. It showed me how cold this world is & that it really is every man for themselves. I would tell all felons to research how to start their own biz online because its cheap to start & you can make five, six even seven figures with a little work.

  • @tierren how do you know, did you start your own business? I was thinking about doing that because these people don't care about you messed up in the past, they hold it over your head.

  • @tierren thanks for the words of encouragement.I'm trying to start a cleaning biz and i have a lot of barriers.Thats ok though because i wont stop until i'm successful

  • @dnminus1 No problem, I know your going to make it happen because your putting your mind to it. Much success !

  • The law states and I'm paraphrasing here no employer can choose not to hire you based upon your convictions unless that conviction directly effects adversely your ability to do the position your applying for. But c'mon most felons on here have been convicted of serious stuff, drugs, assault, battery, theft, fraud, etc...any one of these jobs can be twisted in such a way so that the employer can use it to show you would not make a good addition to their company.

  • I cant even find a job with a couple mistamenors because every temp agencie does a background check and wont even give me a second chance in society to prove I'm a hard worker! Now im sitting on my ass looking for solutions to make sum money while all these Temp agencies are hiering illegal immagrants!!! HAVE NO PROOF OF LEGALIZATION IN THIS COUNTRY? SURE! YOU CAN WORK FOR US!

  • i am an ex offender i havrecived all my rights back but the right to bare arm.... ok ...

but and am not able to work for the goverment and the president of th united states ...

But dig this i can vote for what ever office i want and whoever i want BUT I CAN NOT SERVE MY COUNTRY WHAT TYPE OF s&&T IS THAT ..........................................

  • Ok I have tried most of these jobs that I know I can do and no help at all.....

American airlines: you have to pass a background clearance which they tell you (you can not have any felony’s even if its sealed are expunged (trust me I know I am in Miami Florida)

AT&T: I passed the test and qualified for 5 job titles but my record did no help for me to seal the deal.

AAMCO: they will hire you, they are a franchise and will take whoever is certified to do tyhe job .

  • Should just start a movement about employers who claim to be an Equal Opportunities Employer but refuse to hire anyone with any kind of background. Take away that status. They aren't equal at all...

  • @agent9205 im with ya bro!

  • I run a website that offers assistance and advice on how to find jobs after being convicted of a felony. I just want to say how much I appreciate that you've shared this information and I agree with most of the comments - we need a legislative change.

  • I agree just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to earn a living. It's wrong what they've done. They have made it impossible for ex-offenders to survive. Crappy old Target stores don't hire ex-offenders and that is a crappy job! I use to work in Human Resources for Target and they would turn anyone away that had a conviction.

  • ive been out 2 months and as soon as they find out ive got one forgery case they say we'll call later although im very experinced in the feild.even my past employers say sorry we cant insurance.or its societys way of punishment.i say GOD HELP US ALL. the only job i can get is phone rooms and they suck

  • There is a program called BONDING I think and the Government will pay up to 5,000 dollars for that insurance.

  • I don't think you understand, they may say they to, but really they don't, for 2 reasons. Many have insurance laws saying they can't hire felons, which is stupid. Second issue is the mindset of the people that does the hiring. The rules may say one thing, but unless they mandate it, many managers don't want to give us opportunities ..

  • Hello, I'm sorry, but most of these companies do not hire people with a criminal records. I've tried many of them already in the past. What we need is legal changes in employment laws to help us.

  • Each and one of these companies have been contacted directly and they do not exclude ex-offenders.

  • @adogzheart In most states, you cannot be a convicted felon and work for an airline company.
